Traumatized and Betrayed By Everyone!

Chapter 8: First Homeroom (2) – Bespectacled Homeroom Teacher Miss Riley – POV

It was my first year being a homeroom teacher of my own besides teaching other classes and helping other teachers by being their assistant teacher. Also, I have a top class which is filled with high academic students.

“Phew! I hope this goes well. Let’s see my class roster to see what my student’s names are.” I mumbled psyching myself up for the day.

I picked up the clipboard next to the box I’m going to use for first introduction and impressions, to help my students get to know each other better. As I was scrolling through the many names, I had come across a last name which gives me slight sense of nostalgia.

“Hah! I really miss you, Rachael!” I mumbled out saying a person’s name with a slight tear in my eye before taking a deep breath before wiping my sadness away and focusing on the job. The bell rings causing most of the teachers in the teacher’s lounge had gotten up from their desks to head towards their respective homerooms and I should do the same.

“Now! Let’s go!” I say pumping myself up before grabbing the box, introduction sheets for the students and the class roster before heading towards the class I will be teaching. Which would be the top class, 1-A.

“Here we go!”

I arrived at the class a few minutes later and talked to myself just outside the door whilst hearing the bustling conversation of happy students inside before opening the door and stepping inside. I see most students talking with each other but only a few not talking with anyone, which is normal for people who only joined this school this year because most students in this school already went to the middle school attached to it.

“Good morning class. My name is, Miss Riley and I will be your homeroom teacher this year. But I do also teach Math's, History and Physical Education.” I arrived at the podium next to my desk and introduce myself as I recognised some students as I also assisted some teachers in the middle school during my training when I first arrived here.

“Right. I’m now going to pass out a small piece of paper to each of you with a few questions. Once you answer the questions, they will be placed into a box, and we will take one at random. Ok?

Question 1: Your Name?

Question 2: Your Hobbies?

Question 3: What Are You Looking Forward to This Year?

And finally, Question 4: Tell Something Unique About Yourself? Then I will place these on the board here so that everyone will remember what their goals are and get to know each other better.”

I said gesturing to a nearby board before I handed out all the sheets to every student with ease and then after I handed them out, I went back over to the podium with the box on top and grabbed it before walking around the class the same way as the students placed them in the box, but there was one student who was dismissive and was looking out of the window. I couldn’t see his face or expressions due to his long hair covering most of it and noticed he wasn’t wearing his school issued blazer but a denim jacket instead. I decided I would let him off for the first day and picked up the folded piece of paper, dropping it in the box with the other students.

‘Hmm? He might have some trouble connecting with students. Hope this helps him.’ I inwardly thought as I continued walking around the class collecting the slips before arriving back at the podium.

Ok! That’s everyone’s slips and now let’s pick one at a time.” I announced before reaching inside the box to pick out the first slip.
