Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Ran and Sonoko left, and Lin Yi accompanied them to the street before finally departing peacefully.

Ran was a kind girl; upon understanding what had happened and realizing that Lin Yi hadn't done it intentionally, and that it wasn't his fault, she found it hard to blame him. She could only scold herself for her carelessness and felt downcast.

Sonoko was a lively and optimistic person. What had happened was in the past; there was no use lamenting it. Besides, Lin Yi was attractive and had shown a willingness to take responsibility, so without anyone in her heart, she had no complaints and soon adjusted her mood.

On the street, they blended in with the crowd.

Sonoko quickly noticed that Ran's mood was off. Without hesitation, she took her to the nearest café, where they ordered some food and drinks.

Sonoko sat next to Ran and said, "Ran, aren't you happy?"

Ran rested her chin on her hand and replied dejectedly, "With what happened... How could I be happy?"

"Then I'll call that guy and give him a beating," Sonoko said with a huff, pulling out her phone and dialing the number written on the paper.

"That's unnecessary," Ran said, holding Sonoko back. "He didn't do anything wrong..."

She paused, her mood sinking further. "I only blame myself for being careless..."

"You blame yourself for being careless?" Sonoko scoffed. "I think what really bothers you is that you didn't give your first time to that idiot Kudo... What are you looking at? Did I say something wrong?"

Since kindergarten, Sonoko and Ran had been together for over ten years. They weren't sisters, but their relationship surpassed that of many sisters.

After spending so much time together, she knew Ran very well. Sonoko understood what Ran was thinking, and as an outside observer, she had a clearer view of the situation.

She said bluntly, "Why do you care so much about what that idiot Kudo feels? He has never cared about your feelings!"

Ran hurriedly replied, "How can you say that?"

"What's wrong? Am I not right?" Sonoko said, dissatisfied. "If Kudo were really interested in you, he would have confessed a long time ago! Putting aside kindergarten, from elementary school to middle school and now in second year of middle school... and now ten years have passed."

When she said this, Sonoko became more animated, hitting the table and saying disdainfully, "Ten years! Two Olympic Games have passed! Even kids can go to elementary school at ten! If he really liked you, where has he been?"

Sonoko used facts to attack Ran, leaving her speechless. She only felt a knot in her heart and unconsciously accepted what Sonoko was saying: it's true, ten years is a long time; there should have been some movement, right?

Ran looked disappointed. Sonoko realized she had gone too far and softened her tone, speaking seriously: "Ran, in love, luck plays an important role... After all this time, you should wake up."

"Then we'll do it this way," Sonoko decided for Ran. "When you go to school tomorrow, you'll confront Shinichi directly..."

"Ah? Tomorrow... um..." Ran showed hesitation.

"This matter can't be delayed any longer. So it's settled… If you can't speak up, I'll do it for you!"

Between Sonoko and Ran, Sonoko took on the role of "protector." Whenever Ran faced problems, she was always there to help.

She would step in to intervene.

Originally, Sonoko had no intention of getting involved in their matter, but she didn't expect something like this to happen.

Sonoko knew that with Ran's personality, she would surely be tormented by this problem and could even fall into depression. That's why Sonoko thought she had to do something to distract Ran and get her mind off that problem as soon as possible.

According to Sonoko's plan, the matter of the "confession to Kudo" was meant to completely divert Ran's attention.

However, plans never go as intended.

Because the next day, a new transfer student arrived in class 2-B of Teitan Institute.

When the teacher announced the news, Ran and Sonoko were stunned.

"It can't be..."

The two exchanged a tacit glance, understanding what the other was thinking.

"Bang!"

The classroom door opened, and a handsome boy entered.

The teacher looked at the new student with a smile and said, "Very well, please introduce yourself."

The transfer student simply introduced himself with two words: "Lin Yi."

The effect of the woman killer was astonishing. The girls in class 2-B made it evident; both the pretty girls and the less popular ones let out a series of admiring gasps.

"Ah! So handsome!"

"Finally, we have a good-looking guy in our class!"

"He's too handsome, even more than Takuya Kimura, I can't take it anymore!"

"He even introduced himself so charmingly. I'm captivated by him."

"…"

Of course, the effect on the boys was also notable.

"Tch, what's up with this guy? Can't he even introduce himself?"
