Chapter 10 - Call a few more male models
Tang Yuan grinned, revealing her two small tiger teeth. “Long time no see, Chu Yu.”
Chu Yu’s face darkened completely, his tone filled with disgust. “What are you doing here?”
Tang Yuan tilted her head, leaning on Jiang Zi’s shoulder. “Don’t get the wrong idea. It was sister who invited me.”
Chu Yu shifted his gaze to Jiang Zi; his brows furrowed deeply. “Why are you dressed like this?”
Jiang Zi lowered her head, her voice soft and seemingly afraid. “Ah Yuan said it looked good.”
Chu Yu’s expression showed clear displeasure. He would definitely take Jiang Zi to change into a proper evening gown. With so many brothers around, he would lose face if she dressed like this.
But Tang Yuan was indeed a nuisance. “Why did you bring her?”
“Ah Yuan is my friend. Since it’s a wrap party, it’s okay to bring her along.”
Chu Yu looked disapproving, but after glancing at Tang Yuan’s smug face, he forced himself to suppress his irritation, letting out a cold snort before sitting in the backseat of the car.
It’s just one more woman. Complaining about it would make him seem petty.
Tang Yuan hadn’t been in touch with him for two months, and he thought she had finally given up. But here she was, still infatuated and coming to approach him.
Tang Yuan pushed Jiang Zi towards the front passenger seat, indicating for her to sit there while she herself took the backseat with Chu Yu.
Her actions drew the attention of all three people.
Jiang Zi’s gaze followed Tang Yuan. After she sat down, she even turned to smile at Chu Yu, not once looking back at her.
“Miss Jiang.” The bodyguard opened the car door for her, signaling her to get in.
Jiang Zi lowered her eyes to conceal her emotions and sat in the front passenger position.
She glanced at the rearview mirror and saw Tang Yuan moving towards the car door, distancing herself and Chu Yu.
Chu Yu, seeing her sit down so matter-of-factly, was irritated and clenched his teeth. However, when he looked at her, she was calmly closing her eyes and resting.
“Head to ZhiXiao first”, Chu Yu instructed the driver.
“Understood.”
Tang Yuan yawned. “Actually, let’s skip it. It’s already dark, and it took me at least two hours to get ready. Do you want to starve me and sister to death?”
“Tang Yuan!” Chu Yu’s forehead was lined with veins, but seeing her so relaxed with her eyes closed, he felt he had nowhere to vent his frustration.
“Head directly to Spring Night.” He had recently had a falling out with Tang Guo, and if he argued with Tang Yuan now, the Chu and Tang families might not even maintain their surface relationship. It wasn’t the right time for that.
He remembered that Jiang Zi and Tang Yuan were supposed to be at odds like fire and water. For his sake, Tang Yuan had made things difficult for Jiang Zi multiple times. Yet now, they seemed to have reconciled? Just moments ago, Jiang Zi said that Tang Yuan was her friend.
His previous warning to Tang Yuan seemed to have worked, making her hesitant to do anything against Jiang Zi.
Tang Yuan was unaware that Chu Yu still imagined she had feelings for him. She was contemplating how to fall out with Chu Yu completely.
Moreover, this mess would likely affect the relationship between the Chu and Tang families. Although according to the original plot, Chu Yu was still planning and did not yet have the power to strike against the Tang family but, since it involved business interests…
Tang Yuan took out her phone and opened the chat window with Tang Guo.
Tang Yuan: Bro, if I fall out with Chu Yu, will it affect you?
Tang Guo:?
Tang Yuan: I don’t like him anymore. I want to fall out with him.
Tang Guo: Do as you wish.
Tang Yuan tapped the screen with her fingertips, her expression awkward.
Seeing the “Typing…” indicator at the top of the screen, she waited patiently.
Tang Guo: I have no ties with him. If something happens, I’ll take responsibility.
The Chu and Tang families had been close for decades, and yet Tang Guo claimed to have no ties with Chu Yu.
However, recalling Tang Su’s attitude toward Chu Yu, it seemed that her family disapproved of her liking Chu Yu. Since she was now willing to distance herself from him, they clearly supported her decision.
Chu Yu had manipulated people within the Tang Group and secretly acquired shares. Three years later, the Tang family fell apart, and the Tang Group went bankrupt and collapsed.
Subsequently, Tang Guo went missing, Tang Su dropped out of school, and Tang Yuan became a bankrupt young lady who then caused harm to the heroine, eventually ending up with her limbs severed by Chu Yu and thrown into his private wild animal enclosure to be fed to the big cats.
Tang Guo’s disappearance was actually due to being captured by Chu Yu and taken to a lab to test their newly developed addictive drug. Within six months, he was tortured to death.
In the novel, Tang Guo’s death is only briefly mentioned: the Tang family collapsed, Tang Guo went missing, and six months later, his decayed body was found in Tang Su’s rental apartment.
Tang Su, still young, couldn’t bear the string of tragic news and eventually committed suicide by jumping from a building.
Thinking of this, Tang Yuan shivered as she hugged her arms. She will never allow such things to happen again.
Chu Yu privately kept wild beasts, which, in reality, were used to them to punish disobedient subordinates. Countless lives had perished at his hands.
“Feed it to the wolves.”
With those four short words, the so-called ‘NPC’ met their end.
The portrayal of Chu Yu as an underworld overlord, a drug lord, and a man who dominates both the criminal and legal worlds—these were all part of the author’s attempt to enhance his protagonist aura, adding to his dominant male charm.
It’s one thing to read about it, but now that she is in this world, she is determined to shatter this protagonist halo.
Jiang Zi glanced at Chu Yu through the rearview mirror and quickly averted her gaze when he looked up, staring out the car window instead.
Tang Yuan’s inner voice was faint, and she couldn’t hear it clearly. It seemed to be important information, likely blocked from her.
Perhaps it was related to the so-called “mission.” She speculated that if she completed this mission successfully, the block on her inner voice would weaken, allowing her to hear the important information.
Last time, it was to receive a gift from her.
So what would it be this time? She hadn’t heard any inner voice regarding the mission.
Jiang Zi unconsciously rubbed her nails, lost in thought.
The vehicle stopped at the Spring Night Club.
After Tang Yuan got out of the car, she looked up at the glittering golden characters and exclaimed, “You sure put a lot of thought into hosting the wrap party. Ain’t you quite considerate for us.”
Chu Yu, not even glancing her way, completely ignored her. He walked directly to Jiang Zi, bending his arm and waiting for her to grab him.
Seeing this, Tang Yuan squeezed between them and naturally linked her arm with Jiang Zi’s, then beamed at Chu Yu. “What’s wrong? Do you want me to link arms with you, too?”
She pretended to consider it, “The entrance is so spacious, it’s possible for the three of us to walk together.”
Chu Yu shrugged her off and walked ahead.
He was afraid that if he stayed with Tang Yuan any longer, he might explode from frustration.
Tang Yuan called out loudly, “Remember to call a few more male models!”
Chu Yu’s lips twitched. Male models?! He didn’t expect Tang Yuan to be so indiscreet!
Looking at Chu Yu’s retreating figure, Tang Yuan snorted, “Only I get to hold sister’s hand.”
A cold voice from beside her asked, “Is that so? What about the male models?”
Tang Yuan tightened her grip on Jiang Zi’s arm and quickly explained, “I was just joking.”
Jiang Zi’s eyes could not hide her joy. The soft sensation on her arm was comforting.
She whispered, “Okay.”
Tang Yuan must not like Chu Yu anymore. Since she had actively provoked him, regardless of the outcome, she would not let go.
The senior sister who lost her junior sister, experiencing once is enough.
They followed the guide up the elevator, which stopped on the sixth floor.
Room 601, the largest entertainment area, had been reserved by Chu Yu.
