Chapter 35: Into the Tower – Path of Infinite Trials
[Date: March 11, 2025 | Time: 2:10 PM | Location: Ashvattha Guild City, Tower Dungeon Entrance]
With a lingering look at the majestic guild hall standing firmly behind him, Ankush turned towards the imposing obsidian Tower Dungeon that dominated the plaza. Sunlight filtered through its intricately etched golden runes, casting hypnotic patterns onto the polished stone path beneath his feet. A gentle breeze whispered past, rustling the emerald leaves of surrounding trees, carrying a faint sense of mystique and danger that seemed to radiate endlessly from the towering structure.
Heart pounding with anticipation, Ankush approached the massive doorway that stood open invitingly, beckoning him with silent promises of treasures, challenges, and secrets. Standing mere meters from the entrance, he hesitated briefly, inhaling deeply. The Tower Dungeon loomed above him like a silent sentinel, vast and majestic, stretching skyward as if daring the heavens themselves.
Then, with resolve overtaking hesitation, he took the final step, crossing the threshold decisively.
---
Immediately upon entering, Ankush found himself standing inside an expansive, brilliantly lit lobby. Its scale was stunning, easily rivaling the grandeur of royal palaces depicted in history. Enormous marble pillars stretched toward a ceiling that glittered with countless embedded mana crystals, illuminating the lobby in a soft, comforting glow.
His footsteps echoed distinctly as he stepped forward, gaze sweeping curiously across his surroundings. The lobby was circular, and arranged precisely around its circumference stood exactly one hundred doorways—massive gates crafted from polished obsidian, each engraved meticulously with intricate symbols glowing gently in unique colors. Reds, blues, greens, silvers—each gate radiated distinctly, corresponding to a precise tier ranging from the lowest F- rank to unfathomable higher tiers he could only speculate about.
In the center of the lobby stood a towering crystal pedestal, emanating a faint blue glow. As Ankush approached, the glow intensified slightly, drawing his attention. The moment he reached it, a powerful yet soothing voice resonated softly in his mind:
"Welcome, Guild Master. This is the Tower Lobby—the Gateway to Infinite Growth."
Ankush paused, heart quickening in excitement. The voice continued clearly, instructions appearing on a virtual panel floating in front of him:
"Welcome to the Infinite Tower Dungeon. Here, you shall face limitless trials, each floor a test of strength, strategy, and resilience. Choose your path wisely, for each gate represents a separate tower with its own distinct difficulty, monsters, and rewards."
Ankush's eyes flicked toward the immense doors surrounding the lobby. Exactly one hundred gates lined the circular wall, evenly spaced, each glowing gently in different colors, ranging from modest earthy tones at the lower-ranked doors to brilliant golden, crimson, and platinum hues dominating the highest-ranked gates.
Curiosity overtook him, and Ankush moved toward the nearest gate marked with bright silver runes labeled "F- Rank." He could sense the gentle mana aura radiating faintly from it, inviting novices and weaker awakened to safely begin their climb. However, as his gaze traveled further along the wall, he saw gates rapidly increasing in power, their colors shifting through brighter shades, their mana auras intensifying dramatically.
Each gate had a small screen displaying information about the corresponding tower. Ankush glanced at one randomly—marked clearly as the "B Rank Tower." A warning flashed briefly across the small screen:
"Warning: High Danger! Monster level matches the floor number, difficulty increases exponentially."
Ankush took a deep breath, walking further, carefully examining the highest visible gates. Soon he stood before the gate labeled boldly:
"S- Rank Tower Dungeon – Extreme Danger!"
The aura emanating from this gate alone made his heart tighten involuntarily. Yet Ankush continued forward, curiosity insatiable. Moving slowly past gates of greater intensity—S, S+, SS—each radiating overwhelming mana, his muscles involuntarily tensed, skin prickling instinctively from the raw power radiating outward.
Then finally, Ankush paused before a gate glowing ominously in a deep, rich violet hue. Even without looking at the information panel, he knew this gate was beyond extraordinary. Carefully approaching, he read the single line of text pulsing softly:
"Universe+ Rank Tower Dungeon – Existential Threat!"
His breath caught, an instinctive fear twisting sharply in his gut. He could barely imagine what monsters lurked behind such doors, yet the temptation and thrill of eventually challenging even these impossible trials tugged powerfully at his heart.
Ankush turned back, shaking away those thoughts for now. Today wasn't the time for such daring challenges—he had another purpose.
Pausing briefly, Ankush finally recalled something crucial, opening his interface for clarity about the tower's core rules. Immediately, the wall screen activated, a clear, holographic message hovering in large letters across the enormous lobby wall:
Tower Dungeon Rules:
- Within each tower, there is an infinite number of floors.
- Each floor's difficulty matches its numerical level. (Floor 1: Level 1 monster, Floor 2: Level 2 monster, etc.)
- Monsters scale according to the tower's rank (F-, F, F+, E-… Universe+).
- If defeated, entrants are barred from the tower for 24 hours.
- Each monster grants appropriate EXP, Mana stones, and potential special rewards.
- Damage calculation: (Player Attributes + Weapon Damage + Skill Damage) vs. Monster Defense & Health.
- Upon death or failure, participants are expelled safely from the tower. Entry cooldown: 24 hours.
A moment of clarity and caution swept through him as he read the rules, reminding himself to be careful. But even as caution surfaced, so too did his curiosity and excitement. This was no ordinary dungeon—it was a limitless challenge, the perfect place for rapid growth and endless self-improvement.
His internal thoughts began swirling strategically, eyes drawn naturally back toward the high-ranked gates, particularly the S-ranked doors. He reasoned quickly; with his current strength, even the highest towers would initially present little threat. But he knew, floors above level 20 or 30, even he would struggle, let alone towers ranked at Universe+.
Yet there was a perfect opportunity here: he could quickly and efficiently accumulate extremely valuable mana stones from early floors of high-ranking towers, a resource critical to rapidly expand his guild.
His eyes settled again on the glowing violet-hued gate labeled "S Rank," just challenging enough to promise substantial rewards but low enough in the initial floors to allow easy victories. Mana stones from even low-level monsters in the S-rank tower would provide immense guild EXP.
This was exactly the advantage Ashvattha needed—he had chosen his tower.
Steeling himself with a steady breath, Ankush turned decisively toward the S+ rank gate. He stepped confidently forward, feeling the air around him pulse with powerful mana, as if testing his resolve. Without hesitation, he placed his palm firmly against the gate's glowing rune-etched surface.
A resonant voice echoed softly throughout the lobby, as the doors swung open smoothly, revealing a brightly illuminated corridor that stretched into a distant, shimmering portal.
"Welcome, challenger. You have selected: S+ Rank Tower Dungeon. Good luck."
Ankush felt adrenaline surge, heart racing with fierce anticipation. Without hesitation, he stepped forward, crossing the threshold into a world filled with infinite trials.
The moment he passed through, the doors silently sealed shut behind him.
His trial had begun.
