Chapter 24: After The Storm
Ezra's POV:
After the fight, everything was destroyed. The trees were splashed with blood from all of the fighting. Not to mention, because of Stella's incredible power, some trees were burnt from the trunk up, meaning they were either just stumps or the branches were leafless and singed.
The pack house was destroyed and the only area that was left standing was the basement where the pack hospital was and the weapon inventory. The house was in scrambles, pieces of the house scattered where it once stood as an entire building that many people called home.
There were a lot of pack members that were injured and some that didn't make it at all, sadly.
"Is she okay?" I come running outside, noticing my mate on the ground.
"I'm sure she'll be fine. I was able to blast all of the werewolves off of her, but I think she got injured from getting trampled and squashed," her father states.
"So... do you think she's doing fine, Kevin?" I ask him, watching as Apollo uses his alpha speed to quickly get to our mate before he gingerly lifts her into his arms and looks at her with a sad look on his face.
"Is she breathing?" I ask Apollo as I approach them.
"I don't think so. We need to get her to the hospital," Apollo says. The next thing I know, he is no longer in front of me. I'm assuming he just took our mate to the hospital in our pack basement using his Alpha speed.
As I go to the basement, I hear a different familiar voice in a spare room.
"I can't lose her. She was my everything," I hear her father whispering to himself in the room. "Why did this happen?" He says. I debated whether to comfort Kevin or check on Stella to make sure she was still there.
"Hey..." I walk into the spare room to find a typical hospital room with just him and me in there. "I'm sure everything will be fine. Just take some deep breaths." I tell him, confronting him while trying to help him calm down by grabbing his arms gently and standing in front of him.
"How could this happen to someone so caring?" He asks, tears escaping his eyes.
"Hey... Breathe," I remind him, keeping his arms in my hands while standing in front of him.
"But-" Before he could finish, I cut him off. I wrapped my arms around him in a hug to comfort him, making him hug me back.
"You need to breathe. You can't go visit her in the hospital room freaking out." I tell him, still hugging him. I know some people do need hugs as a way to cope. It's just the way some survive.
"You're right," He says after wiping his eyes and taking a few deep breaths to calm down. He nods before he looks at me, a normal expression on his face before he speaks again. "Okay... I think I'm ready to see her now," He says, calmer than before.
"Good... Then let's go see her," I tell him with a supportive smile on my face. Although my expression is supportive, I can slowly feel my entire life falling apart right in front of my eyes. My life felt empty and I felt scared for my own mate's life.
