Chapter 422: Chapter 254: The Prison of the Players (Part 2)_1

“I’m such a fool, seriously. What was I thinking, being so impulsive?”

Sitting in a moving carriage, Kevin looked at the scenery outside the window, feeling like a true idiot.

All he had to do was hand over Drey, but instead, he ended up losing most of his fortune, and he was sent to jail himself.

However, since he had already done it, he accepted it and simply decided to take it all the way and confess to all the crimes.

After all, he was a fifth-level noble, had greased a lot of palms, knew a lot of people, and at worst, he’d only get life imprisonment instead of an execution. He might even live longer than on the outside.

So, when questioned, he took it all on himself, shouldering every issue.

His memory wasn’t bad, either; he could roughly remember who he had spoken to after looking at records, and then just make up a story in order.

Plus, he claimed to have a cross-dressing fetish, often running around in a butler’s outfit, so what could you say to that?

Due to the peculiar nature of his crimes, he underwent a secret trial, from trial to imprisonment, the whole process took only fifteen minutes, so fast that Kevin exclaimed, “You guys are too harsh!”

Is this even allowed!

You bunch of scoundrels never work this efficiently any other time!

But whether to humiliate him or not, he wasn’t placed in a special prison for nobles, he was thrown into a heavy prison.

The cramped cell already had seven inmates, each one looking fierce and villainous, the kind that could snuff out a life just by digging between their fingers.

Looking at Kevin’s delicate skin, one of the inmates licked his lips and asked, “What did you do to get in here?”

“By expressing hostility towards others with words…”

“What a coincidence, me too!” the hulking man excitedly leaned in, “Did you also threaten to have the Law Enforcers’ entire family die? And then actually did it?”

“No, I wanted the entire noble class to die.”

The smile on the hulking man’s face disappeared instantly.

It wasn’t just him; the others looked at him as if he were a big bad wolf that had wandered into a den of rabbits, each curling up in a corner, not daring to utter a word.

Seeing this, Kevin felt like his crime was pretty effective.

With this charge, he should do well enough here, at least no one would dare to mess with him easily.

But just as Kevin was planning his future prison life, he saw several individuals appear in the jail.

They were dressed in leather armor for easy movement, with matchlock guns hanging at their waists and short swords on the left side, with rusted swords hidden under their arms.

They were gunmen.

Each one was extraordinarily skilled, with astonishing marksmanship, proficient in assassination and hand-to-hand combat, they were weapons highly esteemed by the first-level nobility.

These guys didn’t usually take action lightly. Once they appeared, it meant that some high-profile person was about to be taken out.

So the bad news now was: I’m about to die.

The good news, at least I can go out in peace.

With a long sigh, Kevin erased the prison plans that existed only in his mind, lamenting how truly tragic his life had been.

But on second thought, it wasn’t that tragic, probably about a 7.5 to 8 on the scale.

The flippant gunmen approached Kevin and said, “Mr. Kevin?”

“That’s me.”

“Seeing us, you should know what’s going on, right?”

“I get it. So you brought me here just to make it easier to kill me?”

“Exactly.”

“Why all the trouble?”

“It’s your rhetoric that’s troublesome,” said one of the gunmen with a smile, “We’ll use your death as material, to divide the public with the story of you being beaten to death by a violent offender. Rest assured, you’ll die on the seventh punch. I promise to make it quick.”

“Well, thanks for that,” Kevin said, unable to hide his irritation, “I really didn’t expect to become one of your tools, too.”

“Everything has its use, and ours is to be tools for the first-level nobility. We’ll deal with the other guys before we start on you.”

Raising their weapons, one inmate’s chest was pierced through, and the rest were swiftly run through with swords, falling into pools of blood.

Although these guys weren’t worth pitying, the scene was still quite gruesome to witness.

Stepping over the blood on the ground, the gunmen entered the cell and hoisted Kevin up.

The gunman blew on his fist and asked, “Any last words? Although we’re going to replace them with something else anyway.”

“Go to hell, bastard!”

“Very good, goodbye.”

Kevin closed his eyes, but the punch he was bracing for didn’t come. Instead, there was a muffled grunt.

The wall beside them crumbled, and a dark shadow leaped from behind, followed by a powerful bump that sent Kevin’s captor flying into the wall, where they remained hanging for a moment before slowly falling.

Afterward, Kevin found himself caught in someone’s embrace, the scent of lavender wafted towards him, and sturdy arms full of a sense of security made his heart flutter.

Opening his eyes, he saw a muscle-bound nun holding him.

She was powerfully built, strong and majestic with a commanding presence.

At first glance, she seemed like the Demon God incarnate, a fierce star descending to earth, making the other inmates look like helpless Little Bear cubs, the unweaned kind.

“Mighty, mighty warrior?”

“Call me nun!” The nun’s voice was gruff.

“Can a nun be a man?”

“Gender is such a trivial concern!”

“But you can’t be this free with it!”

“Shut up!”

The nun swiftly dodged to the side as a blade whizzed by Kevin’s eyebrow, leaving a cut between his brows.

Flicking the blood off their longsword, the attacking gunman was about to spit out some tough words when the nun tossed Kevin aside and stood before the gunman.
