After that conversation, it was time to start getting ready to go to work I had to hurry as apparently the drive was 30 minutes away but I made it 

I stood in front of the building, it was pretty tall for a research building but that didn't really concern me since they were paying more than any other research job before had it was almost 4 times for 1 gig, in fact It made sense they were paying so much they obviously had the money if the building was this big

I walked in and was amazed not because of some spectacular invention or anything like that but because the lobby was nothing but grey everything and almost devoid of any people everything in the lobby seemed slightly techy but all of it felt... generic like someone told an AI to make a lobby then proceeded to remove even the slight bit of life AI brought to the environment.

I walked up to the only other person in the lobby a woman with her hair in a bun who was staring directly at me while also typing on the computer in front of her

"Hi im-"

"Hamato Yoshi correct?" she interrupted her voice was cold almost emotionless but it was almost as if I could hear a bit of disdain in it

I still nodded my head in response so as to not be disrespectful

"You are late sir" she continued " 3 minutes late to be exact, I understand you had an appointment but tardiness is unacceptable in this institution I'll have to ask you to leave"

"Please No! I need this job" I could almost feel my heart stop for a second, if I didn't get this job then me and Shen would go deep into the red, I had already missed my first job today if I missed this one too which was paying way more then I wouldn't be able to pay for Shen's treatment let alone our apartment

"If you need this job as much as you say you do then you wouldn't have come late now please vacate the premises or I will be forced to call security"

"Please you don't understand I need this, my wife has cancer if I don't get money for her treatment then she'll only get worse"

"Security, ple-" She began

"Wait" another voice, came from the intercom above us 

"We had an issue with one of our test subjects yesterday we can't afford to turn another away today and risk a setback," the voice said in a robotic yet oddly charismatic way

I felt a sense of relief fill my body, losing this job could've been very bad for me and Shen 

"I'll get someone to bring him up to the laboratory we'll do our test and he'll be on his way" the voice continued

In all honesty, I didn't even want to do the job anymore it felt like every part of this day had been warning me to not be here at this exact moment but I hadn't been listening 

Although every bone in my body is telling me to turn away I need this job it's paying too much to pass up on and more importantly Shen needs this and I'd walk through hell for her 

"Sir" a voice broke me out of my thoughts "Please follow me" The voice came from a woman it was also eerily robotic yet also felt like it contained life and joy like it almost didn't want to be robotic yet had no choice 

The woman put a smile on her face and began walking while I followed her

"What exactly is your name Ms?" I asked trying to break the ice

"Dr. Marielle Walker, I'm the head scientist of the research division" she responded slightly annoyed before returning to the silence

"So..." I began trying to end the silence that had formed "what exactly are the tests I am taking"

"You will essentially be taking a few glorified blood tests" she began "Here at TGRI we are trying to push humanity to greater heights, our primary focus is biology and that is why you are here today you'll give us some of your DNA from various sources and we'll send you on your merry little way while we do our science on it" she said with a slight chuckle at the end betraying the robotic tone she said everything in.

"What exactly will I have to give you?" I asked hoping to god it wasn't anything explicit in nature

"Just some blood, hair, spit, and tears," she says briefly

"Tears?"

"We're just covering all our bases"

"Righhtt" I draw out

As I do so we arrive at the lab

Well... I was supposed to post last week... my bad

Believe it or not, my power was out from Friday till Tuesday which never happened before but I guess it's just an author's luck 

I didn't post this chapter because I already missed my post time and writing time so I just told myself I'd post it today 

Anyway tell me what u thought of the chapter 

We've been in Yoshi's pov for a while now but I think I'll keep it for another 2 chapters max so then switch back to our mc and end the arc then the bi-weekly update will start
