Chapter 25: Chapter 25
The kingdom of was in chaos. The undead dragon, under the control of the hooded corpse, rained destruction upon the city. Buildings crumbled under the weight of its fiery blasts, and terrified citizens ran for their lives.
Gondikas emerged onto the battlefield, carrying two massive cannons mounted on his shoulders. He fired a powerful double blast directly at the dragon. The energy surged through the air but was effortlessly deflected by the hooded corpse, who remained mounted on the dragon.
The corpse extended its trident toward the fleeing civilians, a sinister glow emanating from its tip. The life force of several people was sucked from their bodies, leaving them lifeless husks. The corpse's face began to transform, shifting into a pale, blue-tinged visage.
The marines continued their assault on the undead dragon, but their attacks seemed futile. The scales of the monstrous creature absorbed every blow. Finally, reinforcements arrived: a Grade 3 marine dragon equipped with dual shoulder cannons. With a deafening roar, it unleashed a powerful blast that struck the undead dragon. The impact sent the hooded corpse hurtling from the dragon's back.
As the two dragons engaged in a ferocious battle overhead, the corpse landed on the ground. It stood upright, unfazed, its glowing blue eyes scanning the battlefield.
"Freeze!" shouted a group of marines as they aimed their rifles at the figure.
Without hesitation, the corpse unleashed a wave of energy, blasting the marines away like leaves in a storm.
Gondikas, watching from a distance, froze in shock.
"That face… It can't be…"
Cristianos stepped forward, his expression grim.
"Zorga."
Zorga, the once-dead figure, raised his trident high, summoning a surge of dark energy that ripped through the battlefield. The blast killed dozens of marines and knocked Gondikas unconscious. The battlefield grew eerily quiet for a moment as Cristianos assessed the dire situation.
"Surround him!" Cristianos ordered, his voice commanding. The marines quickly moved to encircle Zorga, their rifles trained on him.
The marines opened fire, unleashing a barrage of bullets and energy blasts. Zorga, unfazed, raised his trident and deflected the attacks with an invisible barrier. The trident pulsed with energy as he slammed it into the ground. A ripple of dark magic spread outward, and moments later, an army of undead sea creatures emerged from the ground. They were humanoid, grotesque, and reeking of decay.
The arrival of the undead army threw the battlefield into further disarray. The marines split their focus, fighting the sea creatures while attempting to halt Zorga's advance. The clash turned into a brutal melee as swords clashed, spells erupted, and bullets tore through the air.
Amid the chaos, Algos demonstrated his immense strength. He cut through the undead with precision, his blades slicing through their decayed bodies like paper. His movements were a blur, and within minutes, a pile of defeated sea creatures surrounded him.
Spotting Zorga, Algos fired a concentrated blast at him. Zorga deflected the attack effortlessly with his trident, surprising Algos. The hooded figure turned toward him, the glowing blue of his eyes locking onto the marine general.
Algos found himself surrounded by more undead creatures, but his blade moved with deadly efficiency. One by one, the creatures fell, but their numbers seemed endless. The battle raged on, with Zorga continuing his slow, deliberate march toward the heart of the kingdom, his trident glowing ominously.
Back to Sequana, Youth's glowing red eye illuminated the dim room as he let out a guttural scream, his body trembling from the intensity of the energy surging through him. Vriede knelt beside Sequana, her wolf-like tail flicking anxiously as she checked for any signs of life.
"Stay with us, Sequana," Vriede muttered, glancing nervously at Youth.
"Damn it, Youth, get a hold of yourself!"
Youth fell to his knees, clutching his glowing eye. The energy radiating from him filled the room, pulsating in waves. His breathing was ragged, his instincts driving him forward.
Without thinking, he crawled toward Sequana and placed his trembling hands on her shoulders. As soon as he touched her, the room erupted in crimson light. The energy enveloped them both, their bodies glowing with an intense red aura that sent shockwaves through the air. Vriede shielded her eyes from the flashing light, her heart pounding with fear and awe.
Inside her unconscious mind, Sequana was lost in a dream. She saw her mother's warm smile and heard the steady rhythm of her father's axe chopping wood. Memories of her childhood played out like a vivid tapestry, reminding her of the love and warmth she had lost. The vision shifted to the moment her mother taught her magic, the glow of runes swirling around her hands.
"You're strong, Sequana," her mother's voice echoed. "Never forget that strength comes from within. Use it to protect what matters."
At the main center of the kingdom, the battlefield was a scene of carnage. Dozens of marines lay scattered, lifeless, their weapons broken beside them. Smoke and the acrid scent of magic filled the air as Zorga stood amidst the chaos, his glowing blue eyes surveying the destruction. The undead dragon circled overhead, raining terror upon the kingdom.
Algos gritted his teeth, his guns blazing as he cut through waves of undead sea creatures. He cursed under his breath. "
Shit, everyone is getting killed easily. We're running out of time."
A familiar voice called out behind him.
"General!"
Algos spun around, spotting Schneizel running toward him.
"Schneizal ? Where were you?!" he barked.
Schneizal skidded to a halt, panting.
"That thing… It came from the shipwreck. It was somehow calling to Sequana. It drained her mana and used it to resurrect itself."
Algos's face darkened.
"What?! You went to the ship?! I told you that was off-limits!"
"It was really bothering Sequana," Schneizal defended.
"She couldn't sleep because of it. We didn't think it would… escalate like this."
Algos clenched his jaw, his frustration evident.
"Well, since this is your mess, you're going to help me clean it up. We're mounting a counterattack against that creep. Got it?"
Schneizal nodded, raising his sword. "Alright."
Algos raised his guns, the barrels glowing with charged energy.
"Alright. Let's take him down."
The two charged toward Zorga, their movements precise and coordinated. Schneizal swung his sword in a wide arc, aiming for Zorga's midsection. Zorga sidestepped effortlessly, his trident spinning to deflect Algos's energy blast. The two attackers regrouped, their eyes locked on the powerful foe.
"He's fast," Schneizal muttered.
"And strong," Algos added.
"We'll need to be smarter than him if we're going to win."
Zorga's glowing eyes flickered with amusement as he raised his trident, preparing for the next attack. The battle was far from over.
Schneizal attempted another attack, his sword clashing against Zorga's trident with a metallic ring that echoed across the battlefield. Sparks flew as the two weapons locked, the strength of each combatant evident.
Algos took advantage of the moment and maneuvered behind Zorga, firing a charged blast from his guns. Just as the energy shot toward him, Zorga tossed Schneizal aside with a single motion and spun his trident to block the blast. The impact sent shockwaves through the air, forcing Algos to shield his face from the debris.
Zorga turned his focus on Algos and charged toward him, his trident aimed with deadly precision. Algos leaped to the side just in time to avoid the strike.
"Tsk," Algos muttered as he landed.
The force of Zorga's attack created a powerful shockwave, cracking the ground and sending nearby debris flying. The display of raw power caused Algos to instinctively jump backward, putting more distance between himself and Zorga.
The battlefield fell silent for a moment, the tension palpable as the three combatants prepared for the next exchange.
Schneizal groaned as he pushed himself off the ground, his grip tightening on his sword.
"Not done yet," he muttered before charging at Zorga again.
His swings came fast and furious, forcing Zorga to block each strike with his trident. The sound of metal clashing echoed through the battlefield as Schneizal pressed his assault.
From behind, Algos capitalized on the distraction and managed to land a shot squarely on Zorga's back. The impact scorched his cloak, but Zorga remained unbothered, turning his attention to Algos. With a burst of speed, Zorga charged at him, their faces inches apart as they locked eyes.
Algos's breath hitched, startled by the intense, almost predatory gaze of Zorga. The brief moment of shock left him vulnerable, but Schneizal seized the opportunity.
"Take that, zombie!" Schneizal shouted as he delivered a powerful slash to Zorga's back.
The force of the strike sent Zorga hurtling into a nearby wall, cracking the stone on impact.
Zorga slumped slightly before rising to his feet, his glowing blue eyes locking onto Schneizal and Algos. With a menacing growl, he prepared to fight the two of them once more, his trident spinning ominously in his grasp.
Both Schneizal and Algos raised their weapons, their eyes fixed on Zorga as they prepared for the next bout. The battle was far from over.
