Arrival(1)
'Thoughts'
"Speech"
It's been a little over 2 months since the exams and Jack finds himself plane several hundred feet above the ground. Jack couldn't help himself from gawking at the massive island that he and several dozen other students are flying over. 'I read about how DUEL Acadamy is on an island, but I was expecting a small island not far from the mainland. Not a giant island that you need a plane to access, isn't this a little bit over the top?' Jack was brought out of his musings by someone tapping on his shoulder. "Aren't you excited Jack!" He nodded.
"Yea Annie, I read a lot about Duel Acadamy and have high hopes for it." Annie rolled her eyes.
"That's not what I mean my close rival. I mean that with us getting into DUEL Acadamy we are one step closer to being pro duellists!" Jack opened up his Duel Watch and looked over his school profile as Annie talked to the other nearby students.

Expanding the info to reveal a basic profile of his duelling style and other notable information like his experience as a trader. 'It seems like duel history only includes duels at the academy.' Closing his profile, he tried to open up other students' profiles. He nodded when a notification said that access to others' profiles is temporarily disabled. 'Looks like I'll have to wait if I want to gather information on my fellow students.'
When Annie noticed that Jack has been silent for a while, she leaned over to see what he was looking at. Her curiosity only grew when she noticed that he was reading his school profile. "Ooh, hey Jack show me your profile and I'll show you mine." Jack jumped a bit at the sudden voice, before looking at Annie and nodding as he showed her his profile. After reading his profile, Annie smiled, opened up hers and showed it to Jack.

"Your duel with the examiner must have been quite a show, ranking 47th out of all first years is very impressive." Annie beamed at the praise.
"Yup! My dad was very proud of me when the results came in. How about your parents?" He nodded.
"Yea, my parents said that being in the top half is quite a feat. My dad said that during the start of his first year he was ranked 38 out of 172, while my mom was ranked 40." Annie's smile grew.
"My dad said that he was ranked 39 and that the reason he first befriend your parents was that their rankings were close." Jack nodded.
"Yea my parents told me the same thing. They also lectured me on how the ranking you get at the start of the year matter very little compared to your ranking at the end of the year."
"YEA I CAN'T WAIT TO RAISE UP IN THE RANKS WITH MY HEROES!" Jack laughed at her declaration.
"Well, at least you are motivated." Annie frowned.
"What's wrong? You don't sound that excited about this?"
"Am I that obvious?" He sighed. "I'm just not confident that I'll be able to raise up in the rankings."
"Don't be like that Jack, your my rival! I bet that by the end of the year you'll be in the top 10! Plus you have your collection, I'll be shocked if you don't have something to help you against any deck!" Jack smiled.
"Thanks, Annie, that means a lot to me." Annie's grinned as she smugly laughed. Once the plane landed, all the students were escorted by a tall man in a suit to a large room with several dozen rows of tables inside the academy. Many of the tables were already full of students eating as they chatted. Box-like robots with arms flew across the room, when they land they would open up to reveal plates of food which they would place on the table in front of a student.
"While you're in this room, you'll be able to order food on your Duel Watch." He looked over the group of first years. "Did you all read up on the point system all academies use?" Several students nodded, however, the man sighed at the sight of some of them shaking their heads. "Duel Points or DP are points that students use as currency when they are at a Duel Monster Academy. There are many ways to gain them, but I won't be going over what they are. It's your job to read up on this information, I'm I being clear?" All the students nodded. "Good, also all students are given 1000 DP at the start of every school year, this includes first years. However, I would advise against wasting this as DP is used to purchase everything you'll need. So make sure to save enough for your essentials." The man smiled when all the students nodded.
"The headmaster will start his speech soon, so find a seat and order food if you want. Students can order a free set twice a day, however you can also order something else if the free set doesn't suit your taste." Once he finished, he left the students to find empty seats at the tables. Jack and Annie sat beside each other as they browsed their Duel Watch.
"There really is a menu app." Jack couldn't hide his surprise at the new app on his watch.
"YEA! Let's find something to eat while we wait." Jack raised an eyebrow as the duo read through the menu.

"That's a lot of options, what should we get?" Jack decided that he would just order what Annie chooses.
"How about we share a basic cheese pizza?"
"That's fine with me, let's split the cost." After sending Annie his share, she ordered a basic large pizza. They chatted about anything that came to mind as they waited for their food. Eventually, a bot delivered their order, and the duo couldn't help themselves but marvel at the sight. As the duo ate their pizza, a silver-haired teen sat alone contemplating her order.

'Why is this called the basic set?! There is nothing basic about it, they should have called it a custom set instead!' Alexandria couldn't help but mentally exclaimed. At first, she wanted to buy all of her favourites but then she remembered her mom telling her not to waste all her DP on food. So, in the end, she decided just to order a basic set. However, she scowled when presented with all these options. 'Maybe I should order something else, it will take me forever to go through all these options.' She glanced at the back of the room where she figured the headmaster will give his speech. 'I hope these bots still deliver food when the headmaster is giving his speech, I rather not wait what could possibly be an extra hour to eat.' In the end, Alexandria ordered a BLT sandwich using the basic set.
After an hour a voice rang out throughout the room. "Good evening students, can I have all your attention please?" When the students looked at where the sound came from, they were greeted with the sight of a tall elderly man wearing a white suit. With neatly maintained grey hair and beard. In his hands is a wireless microphone, his blue eyes looking around the room. "Thank you for your attention, older students should know me already. But for our new arrivals, allow me to introduce myself." His voice was clear, and despite how soft it was, something about it demanded others to focus on what he is saying. "My name is Solum Daniel and I'm the headmaster of this academy."
