Three-body: The Most Competent Wallfacer in History

Chapter 629: Extra Four: Humanity, the Controller of the Universe_4

Guan Yifan was taken aback, "Humanity already has the ability to find and destroy small universes?"

After asking, he felt that it wasn't surprising for modern humans to have such technology.

"Yes," You answered.

Cheng Xin expressed concern, "Can the process be a bit gentler? To minimize casualties?"

She continued, "The 'Return Movement' was supposed to be a noble cause, but if it leads to violence, it seems to betray its original intention."

You looked at Cheng Xin seriously, "You are indeed as described in the records: kindness without boundaries.

"History has more than once proven that such actions of yours are likely to harm yourself and others.

"You must understand that even now, humanity cannot afford to exhibit such pure kindness, as it may provoke many civilizations and might even lead to cosmic-scale wars.

"Human nature has both good and evil, just like a planet always has one side facing the star, while the other side is shrouded in darkness.

"If evil exists, it implies that it serves a purpose.

"You can deny it, but you cannot forbid it or disregard its function.

"According to records left from the Galaxy Era, your thinking has been influenced by some ulterior motives. There is universal love in the world, but you exhibit even more than those who advocate for it.

"Your thoughts are indeed naive. If you were an ordinary person, they wouldn't cause much harm, but if you have influence, then you are the root of chaos.

"No wonder the Transdimensional Wallfacers exiled you permanently. Even now, I must say, the human world does not welcome you."

Cheng Xin's face flushed and turned pale in turns, she suddenly felt bewildered. Was she really so terribly wrong?

It seemed as though You could see through what Cheng Xin was thinking, "You think you're kind, but that's not true kindness because your kindness always brings greater disasters to humanity.

"You think you're responsible, but in reality, you're just moving yourself. True responsibility is like Jiang Yu, who has served humanity for so many years, not hiding in small universes while leaving your compatriots outside.

"Jiang Yu has always prohibited humans from entering small universes because it represents an escape, and it's shameful!"

Cheng Xin was even more at a loss. What should she do in the future?

Guan Yifan hurriedly changed the subject with another topic, "What are your plans for us?"

You said, "You can return to Starship Earth to live, Sophon can stay in the Solar System State or return to the Trisolaran World."

He looked at Cheng Xin, "As for Cheng Xin, she must continue her exile.

"However, you can go live in the Trade Constellation, which is a human-designated trade area and also inhabited by many humans."

Cheng Xin asked, "Before you continue to exile me, could you let me visit the Solar System?"

You: "Sorry, you don't have that right."

Cheng Xin, ashen-faced: "Why? Why can't I be accommodated when human territories are half the universe in size?"

"Because humanity doesn't need you," said You bluntly. "Your behavior is more akin to that of a high-level spy sent by other civilizations, so we don't welcome you."

Suddenly, Cheng Xin felt her legs go weak, "Why? Why has it come to this?"

Guan Yifan, somewhat worried, asked You, "Can I go with Cheng Xin to the trade area?"

You: "That is your choice."

Guan Yifan patted Cheng Xin on the shoulder, "Don't worry, I'll stay by your side."

"I will go too," Sophon said. "Even if I return to the Trisolaran interstellar colonies, I probably won't be able to adapt to the life in the Trisolaran World now; we can keep each other company."

You again said, "That is your choice."

Sophon asked, "What about our spaceship? Can you find it and 'bring' it back?"

You: "I will take you to the Trade Constellation."

Guan Yifan asked, "Are there any particular things we need to pay attention to in this trade area you mentioned?"

"There, humans are the only gods!" You replied.

Guan Yifan became more interested, "I know humans are supposed to be very powerful. Can you elaborate on how powerful, exactly? And what is this trade area about? Aren't they afraid of Dark Forest Strikes during trade?"

You: "The Dark Forest Law is a thing of the past. Humanity no longer needs to hide itself; in fact, we make known the human sphere of influence to all civilizations."

"As long as you're strong enough, you can ignore any rule!"

Hearing such a domineering proclamation, Guan Yifan was still very excited.

"As for the trade zone," You continued to explain, "this is the new cosmic rule that humanity re-established.

"During The Third Epoch, humanity already had enough confidence that they needed not undertake a Dark Forest Strike against any civilization."

Guan Yifan was somewhat concerned, "Isn't, isn't that a bit arrogant?"

You: "In your era, this was indeed arrogance, and even before The Third Epoch, humanity would have devoted immense efforts to carry out Dark Forest Strikes across the entire universe.

"But after The Third Epoch, humanity wouldn't stomp on an ant unless they accidentally stepped on one while walking."

"Because of the changes humanity made to the cosmic laws, ants will always be ants."

For a moment, Guan Yifan didn't know what to say; this was clearly beyond the scope of the Dark Forest Law.

You said further, "When the majority of the civilizations in the universe come to seek humanity's protection, the universe becomes not so dark and cruel anymore, this is the new rule laid down by humanity.

Speaking to this point, he looked at Cheng Xin, "This is what true goodness is, precisely because humanity has an absolute military superiority that can deter all civilizations, that all civilizations will abandon dark, primitive laws.

"Before this, every moment saw civilizations in the universe being completely exterminated, while now only humanity's lapdog civilizations have the power to destroy others.

"And before they destroy a civilization, humanity will make the necessary records.

"It may seem oppressive, it may seem cruel, but this new order allows more civilizations to survive.

"Since these civilizations are all deterred by humanity, the deterrence between them turns into competition, no longer a life-or-death situation."

"So trade emerged between civilizations, and to regulate trade among them, as well as to control each civilization on a deeper level, humanity designated a star cluster as the trading zone."

Guan Yifan and the others all felt the might of modern humanity.

Only the sufficiently strong can disdain all existing rules and establish a new order.

You went on to say, "I'll now take you to the trade zone, you'll understand the specifics once you get there."

Then, Guan Yifan and the others saw the starry sky around them receding rapidly, just like the trees by the roadside used to do.

There was no redshift or blueshift, but such a retreat of reference objects must be faster than light!

After all, when engaging in curvature-driven flight, it took a long time for a star to 'fly' from the front to the back.

But now, it was receding patch by patch.

Guan Yifan asked again, "What do you think of humanity's future?"

You obviously paused, "Humanity's technologies have basically reached their peak, and there's little room for progress now.

"After three or four epochs of adjustment, humanity has essentially adapted to this environment of halted progress.

"We are now searching for traces of another universe, not another parallel universe, but in terms of space and time, another universe.

"At present, we're researching how to go from the unstable and somewhat abstract edge of the universe to the space outside of the universe.

"Theoretically, there should be a real·vacuum between universes, where most of humanity's current technology would become ineffective.

"The basic parameters of another universe must be different from ours, then humanity will face new challenges!

"Or perhaps, one day humanity will perish, but the achievements of humanity will be forever celebrated in this universe; in the distant future, there will be civilizations that take humanity as their role model."

Guan Yifan frowned, "If humanity were to lose its dominance, wouldn't you find it regrettable?"

You: "Wallfacers often quote a saying from The Galactic Era: A thousand years is too long, seize the day!

"We understand 'a thousand years' as an adjective, because for us, a thousand years is not long."

Guan Yifan smiled, "You really know how to let go."

You: "Perhaps it's because we've possessed it before, that we can 'pick it up and put it down'."

Guan Yifan sighed, "The future for humanity is indeed beautiful!"

Looking at the starry sky in front of him, he couldn't help but smile. In this universe, humanity was the absolute ruler, and he felt very proud.
