Three-body: The Most Competent Wallfacer in History

Chapter 33: Chapter 31: Code (Vote for Recommendation)_1

Jiang Yu always felt that if an Adventist died, it was like removing a scourge for the people.

However, when a live human life was laid before him, he realized he wasn't as cavalier as he had imagined and couldn't bring himself to do the deed.

Yet these people kneeling on the ground, regardless of whether they had blood on their hands or not, deserved to die for what they did as Adventists!

Now they were crying and weeping in fear due to Chu Xu's "Call of Death" tactic, but these people were essentially madmen; their crying was merely a physiological reaction.

Given that they had refused to disclose the location of their base from start to finish, they were madmen who weren't afraid of death; such people were not worth mourning over.

Therefore, Jiang Yu decided that finding the Adventist base for Ye Wenjie would deal a bigger blow to them than killing a few of their number.

He also decided that he wouldn't kill unless absolutely necessary, after all, he hadn't planned on becoming an assassin.

Upon hearing Jiang Yu's words, Ye Wenjie nodded and said, "Let's stop here for today!"

Then she proclaimed loudly, "These people kneeling on the ground were once our comrades, but they have betrayed their own oath and abandoned ETO's principles! Their deaths are insignificant!

"Their research has brought great harm to humanity..."

After giving the militants a brainwashing session, Ye Wenjie led Jiang Yu and others out of the sheepfold.

Chu Xu patted Jiang Yu on the shoulder with a chuckle, "Don't blame me for not giving you a heads-up. You always had to fire a shot, so next time you encounter such a scene, you won't be startled."

Captain Wu, trailing behind, was curious about Jiang Yu's background, to have the angel-faced King Yan speak so softly to him.

Jiang Yu sighed, "Compared to wielding guns and sticks, I prefer to use my brain to solve problems."

Captain Wu was startled and thought to himself, "Has this kid gone mad to dare make a sarcastic remark about the Commander's personal guard captain!"

But to his surprise, Chu Xu didn't get angry. Instead, she covered her mouth and giggled, "Then I really want to see how you solve problems using your brain."

Captain Wu's mouth twitched, and he looked at Jiang Yu with even greater respect.

Under the guidance of the militants, Ye Wenjie and Jiang Yu, among others, entered a large tent.

After Jiang Yu had sent all the irrelevant people out, he whispered, "We can let them all go at night; naturally, they will lead us to the base."

But Captain Wu said, "I've tried that before. These folks are incredibly cunning; after we let them go, they just ran around aimlessly, not heading for the research base at all."

"That's because you didn't make it look natural enough," Jiang Yu smiled and said, "If I rescue them, the effect will be different."

As long as their escape process feels natural and they find themselves penniless and starving with no pursuers in sight, there's a high chance they'll head to the nearest research base.

While speaking, Jiang Yu winked at Ye Wenjie.

Ye Wenjie immediately understood that Jiang Yu planned to use Kong Xiang to gain the trust of a few Adventists.

She pondered for a moment before saying, "That's a bit far-fetched."

In Ye Wenjie's eyes, it was doubtful whether Jiang Yu, who had just gained Kong Xiang's trust, could deceive these people.

And why would one of Kong Xiang's people be at her, Ye Wenjie's, side? That itself was a huge loophole.

Jiang Yu said, "I'll just say that Kong Xiang sent me to be an undercover agent by your side."

He thought to himself, "I'm the honest and reliable young man telling you all the truth; I wonder if you'll believe it."

Ye Wenjie nodded at first but then shook her head, "Once they make contact, it'll give us away."

In his heart, Jiang Yu countered, "Teacher Ye, this really can't be given away!"

But he said aloud, "Without communication devices, they won't be able to make contact.

"If things get out of control, I'll escape immediately. Even if the plan doesn't succeed, at least we'll have narrowed down the search area."

Ye Wenjie thought for a long time before saying, "This action is very dangerous."

Jiang Yu adopted a righteous tone, "How can one capture tiger cubs without entering the tiger's lair?"

After much contemplation, Ye Wenjie finally nodded, agreeing to Jiang Yu's plan.

Captain Wu asked Jiang Yu, "We have wiretaps and signal transmitters at our disposal. Do you want a set?"

"Forget the wiretap; it's too easily detectable," Jiang Yu said. "A signal transmitter wouldn't be a bad idea, but don't put it on me."

Captain Wu was taken aback, "Then place it where... Oh, I see. I'll take some people and 'interrogate' them again right away."

Jiang Yu reminded him, "Make sure it's done covertly!"

Watching Captain Wu leave, Jiang Yu then said to Chu Xu, "In a while, use your sharpshooting to help me stage a play. Oh, and teach me how to conceal a gun again."

...

In the dead of night, Jiang Yu swatted away the swarms of mosquitoes and crouched low as he approached the enclosure holding the six Adventist members.

To make the act believable, Jiang Yu didn't use the enclosure's main gate. Instead, he nimbly leaped inside, always alert to his surroundings.

Since the members of the Adventists in the enclosure hadn't found sleep due to the bites of mosquitoes, they recoiled to the corners upon recognizing Jiang Yu's face by the moonlight.

Jiang Yu made a silencing gesture and drew out a dagger.

The Adventist members were terrified. Jiang Yu squatted in front of a man about fifty years old, who immediately felt a sense of doom.

But, to everyone's surprise, Jiang Yu cut the ropes binding the old man.

Jiang Yu pushed the dagger into the old man's hand, "Cut the others free."

As he spoke, he took out another dagger to cut the ropes of the others.

However, as he did so, the old man suddenly held the dagger to Jiang Yu's throat from behind, "Who are you? What do you want?"

The night hid the brief smirk that had crossed Jiang Yu's face before he quickly hid it, and he spoke in a lowered voice, "A lord from the stars."

The other party hesitated for a few seconds before slowly responding with a hoarse voice, "Will eventually descend upon the earth."

The dagger was put away, and Jiang Yu felt his neck, relieved it hadn't been cut.

He snorted coldly, "I risk my life to save you, and you try to kill me!"

"I'm sorry," the old man hurriedly apologized. "We all thought we were going to die here. We never expected someone to come save us."

At that moment, a young man who had been untied spoke quietly to the old man, "Teacher Baluo, be careful of traps."

But Baluo, the old man, said, "No, I trust him."

The young man was taken aback, "Have you met before?"

"You'll find out later." Baluo didn't explain, because the code they had just used was known only to the direct lineage of the Adventists.

Under Jiang Yu's lead, the group quickly fled the enclosure.

A few hundred meters from the tent, two off-road vehicles were parked.

Only after Baluo and the others got into the vehicles did Jiang Yu say, "This is as far as I go."

Baluo was startled, "Aren't you coming with us?"

Deception Points from Baluo +1.

Jiang Yu smiled, "I still have my mission to complete."

Baluo quickly said, "Who is your superior? We might know them."

"Kong Xiang!" Jiang Yu urged. "Get going, quickly!"

Just then, someone suddenly shouted, "Who's there!"

Baluo and the others quickly started the cars and, as a searchlight switched on, Jiang Yu at the side of the vehicle was immediately exposed in the light.

Amidst gunfire, Jiang Yu's arm was grazed by a bullet, and he quickly opened the door and got in the car, "Drive, I've been blown!"
