CHAPTER : 3
Chapter 3 Choices
Chapter 3 The Choice
‘Lord Soros.’ Lucien bowed slightly and spoke respectfully towards a tree-top nest.
‘Gah gah gah …… ‘With the sound of flapping wings and a slightly hoarse caw, a huge one-eyed crow flew out from the nest, then landed on a relatively low tree branch, its scarlet one-eye swept a glance at Lucian, but it let out a hoarse sharp human voice.
‘Gah… boy, is it you who calls out to the great Lord Soros?’
‘Yes.’ Lucien respectfully bowed his head, while respectfully handing over a roasted salamander.
This one-eyed crow, but the official sorcerer’s magic pet, to a certain extent, represented that sorcerer.
‘Gah gah – if you still want to exorcise the fae power in your body, the great Lord Soros won’t be able to help you.’ Raven Soros nonchalantly took away the roasted salamander that Lucien offered while speaking casually.
‘Lord Soros, I want to take two students from this year’s batch of new blood.’ Lucian’s expression was calm as he directly presented his needs.
‘Accept students? Grrrr ……’ Soros seemed to feel that this matter was very interesting, fluttering his wings and grinning with a grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
‘Lord Soros, I want to recruit students with good qualifications and am willing to pay a certain amount of magic stones.’ Lucien bowed slightly.
‘Magic stones? Wait a moment.’ Soros stopped his piercing laughter, his expression slightly serious, and landed back on the tree branch, his scarlet one-eye first looking at Lucian, then closed.
A moment later, Soros reopened his eyes. ‘Boy, the great master of Lord Soros said that he can help you harvest new blood with third-class qualifications as students, but …… one person, twenty magic stones.’
‘Third class qualification? Twenty magic stones?’ Lucien took a deep breath, even though he knew that the price of getting help from these formal wizards was not normally high, twenty magic stones? This price was a bit outrageous.
One must know that at this price, one could purchase two Knight-class slave escorts at the Sorcerer Trading Point. Although this kind of knight-class slave escort’s combat power was slightly inferior to that of a second-grade sorcerer apprentice, they were loyal and were considered to be very practical helpers for a third-grade sorcerer apprentice.
And using twenty magic stones to become a mentor for a third-grade qualified new blood? This was a very lossy thing for most sorcerers.
After all, the students are not necessarily their own, and investing twenty magic stones before even teaching them is not a good ‘deal’.
What’s more, third-class qualification? Among the five qualifications of a sorcerer’s apprentice stage, it could only be considered not bad, but not excellent.
Soros flapped its wings. After thinking about it, it slowly said, ‘At most …… Well, for the sake of my favorite roasted salamander, the great Soros is willing to help you add a small “concession”.’
‘Attach a first-class qualified newblood? How about this offer? If you were to go and purchase Sorcerer Apprentice slaves as experimental fodder, the price would be quite a bit higher than on my side.’
Lucien fell silent, he also understood at this point that the formal sorcerer behind Soros, the odds were that he was the one who offered a high price because the purchaser was him.
Perhaps in his mind, he was looking for a student to conduct certain experiments that might exorcise the fae sorcery power within his own body, or even to conduct flesh-swapping experiments. That’s why he set the price so high when he made the offer – he was selling the experimental body at a ‘friendly price’.
Although he was more or less unwilling to do so, now, he had no other choice. After all, the official sorcerer responsible for this year’s new blood recruitment is only this one, and the next batch of new blood recruitment will be at least a year.
‘I …… I’ll purchase one, and in addition, add the ‘additions’ that you said, Lord Soros.’ After a long silence, Lucian opened his mouth with some difficulty.
At the same time, he fished out a small pouch, then fished out twenty magic stones that emitted a faint ethereal light from within, respectfully handing them to Raven Soros.
Soros grinned, his voice hoarse, but his expression seemed to be smiling. ‘Equivalent exchange.’
The corner of Lucien’s mouth pulled.
Using a Third Grade Qualification New Blood, attaching a worst First Grade Qualification New Blood Teaching Qualification, and then exchanging away twenty precious magic stones, and then ultimately saying equal exchange?
‘A fair trade.’ Despite the emotions churning in his heart, Lucien nevertheless squeezed out a smile.
After all, being willing to exchange in front of absolute strength was fair enough in the eyes of those formal wizards.
……
‘You guys have two choices. One is for me to randomly appoint mentors for you. This method is free of charge. The other is for you to choose your own mentor. In my place, there is a brief introduction and conditions of the mentor. You can choose by yourselves, but choose this method, you need to pay an extra magic stone.’
Three days later, after the airship carrying the new blood landed at the Greybone Academy, this group of new blood was still somewhat ignorant of the wizarding world and also began the most important choice of their lives.
Soon starting with the new bloods with the best fifth-class qualifications, these apprentices made their choices one by one.
‘I choose Mentor Vivian.’
‘Corvette ……’
‘Lucy ……’
Soon, it was the turn of a witty-looking teenager to make his choice.
‘My lord, I wish to choose myself.’ After respectfully handing over a magic stone, the teenager Yellen took the pamphlet with the information of numerous mentors and quickly flipped through it.
After all, he could only look at it for a maximum of fifteen minutes, and if he wanted to continue reading, he would need to add more magic stones!
[Rafferty Owen]
[Third Level Sorcerer Apprentice]
[Specialised Subjects: Necromancy, Human Anatomy, Negative Energy Particle Neutralisation]
Three free paid knowledge items.
Requirements: Apprentices must cooperate with experiments once a month, with no excuses!
‘No excuses for any reason?’ Yellen’s heart sank slightly, but he had heard that most of the sorcerer’s experiments were bloody and cruel.
He quickly flipped through and looked up the information of his next mentor.
[Steven Luther]
[Official Sorcerer]
【Specialised disciplines: Neurology, Anatomy, Mutant Transformation】.
[Provides one piece of paid knowledge for free]
【Requirements: Apprentices must submit two magic stones every month, and are responsible for acting as lab assistants】.
‘Two magic stones …… I only brought eight magic stones …… from the side of my family,’ Yelen had some heart in his heart, but after seeing the mandatory condition that he must submit two magic stones per month, he somewhat hesitated.
[Carl Hossein]
[Third-level Sorcerer Apprentice]
[Specialised disciplines: spiritual transformation, curses, negative energy particle neutralization]
[Provide five items of paid knowledge free of charge, the type is chosen by the apprentices themselves, and they can consult and request instruction at any time!
Requirements: The apprentice must co-operate with one experiment, and may not be put off for any reason! Just one item!
‘I’m afraid it’s impossible to walk off the dissection table alive after the experiment, isn’t it?’ Yellen quickly skipped over this ‘big thunder’ after his initial heartbeat.
Eventually, he flipped through to a special mentor’s information.
[Lucian Kevin]
[Level 3 Sorcerer Apprentice]
[Disciplines specialized in Pharmacy, Plant Cultivation, Energy Particle Science]
[Can provide paid knowledge for free, the type is chosen by the apprentice, and can provide one-on-one guidance to the apprentice anytime, anywhere!
[Requirement: Honour the teacher!
‘There are no hard and fast terms, and, it seems that the conditions are very generous!’ Yellen’s heart couldn’t help but thump when he saw this mentor profile.
‘But my qualification is a third class qualification, and even among the third class qualifications, it’s very close to the threshold of a fourth class qualification, and among our batch of new blood, other than those few fourth and fifth class qualification guys, I’m the best. Maybe look down the line and find a better, more favorably qualified mentor, or even a full wizard.’
Yellen made a note of the name Lucien but quickly checked up on the information of the mentors after that.
