This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist

Chapter 398: The Divine Game: Kart Racing 2

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: BS Rita, we're not done yet!

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: You want dragon blood, huh? Once the game starts, you'll be waiting for me to deliver it to you personally.

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: Where the hell did you go?! Too scared to reply after you touched my stuff? I know you're online!

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: Speak!!!

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: Show yourself!!! Talk!

The chat page was being spammed with messages from Frenzied Shark.

And it was clear he was losing control.

She scrolled to the top and saw that when she first entered the battlefield, Frenzied Shark's tone was still somewhat dignified and restrained, unwilling to stoop to arguing with a weakling.

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: BS Rita, let's talk.

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: You should know, there are no friends or allies on the battlefield, but also no eternal enemies.

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: I'm willing to make peace.

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: Equipment, items, rare objects, World Graveyards, I'll give you whatever you want, just return what you took from me.

But Rita wasn't responding. So, he started sending even more frantic messages.

She scrolled to the bottom and saw the newest messages were a complete shift in tone—he was practically unhinged now.

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: I WILL KILL YOU!!!

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: I'll turn your dragon's blood into juice and pour it over your head, then I'll make you eat the thorns of hatred and force you to pass it out!

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: WILL YOU MAKE PEACE OR NOT?!

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: RETURN WHAT YOU STOLE!!!

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: BS Rita!! #@%#¥%¥…¥%#@…#%¥@#

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: I'll send you the thorns of hatred. You return what you stole, or I'll beg you!

[Winter Sea·Frenzied Shark]: Last warning, don't make me beg you!

It seemed like cold silence was driving him mad, even an alien like him wasn't immune.

And… Rita noticed that she was standing near the window of the room, looking around. All the players in the room were staring intently at the void in front of them, clearly enjoying watching Frenzied Shark lose his mind.

Rita, being polite and kind-hearted, decided to respond.

She spent three times the usual amount of Essence Points and activated the SSS Divine Gift Skill: Ancient Curse.

Soon, a voice echoed in the air outside her room, and it was her voice.

"I curse Winter Sea Frenzied Shark, that whenever he speaks in the battlefield chat channel, every word will cause him to cry and cough up blood for one minute, until his tears and blood fill the starting room of the battlefield. Only then will the curse be lifted."

She had originally intended to say an hour, but it was automatically adjusted to one minute as she spoke.

It was a response to Winter Sea Frenzied Shark, and a message to all the alien players in the world.

As soon as her name appeared in the World Battlefield chat, she knew she couldn't hide anymore.

The curse was in English, but Rita had a feeling it would be automatically translated into a language the alien players could understand when it reached their ears.

Nivalis burst into uncontrollable laughter.

For a moment, the battlefield chat fell silent, and then for the first time, players other than Frenzied Shark started speaking.

[Nuclear Flash ·NightFury]: Hahahahahahahaha!!!

Rita didn't laugh, though. She felt a bit of relief. It was a good thing she didn't curse Rick back on BS Star. She had always been too busy, and every time she thought about cursing him, something would interrupt her.

It seemed that this kind of curse would be announced in the world in the way it was spoken. And even more surprisingly, it was her voice that was broadcasted.

She couldn't wait to try it out when she got back to BS Star… No, she could try it right here!

She immediately transformed into a cat using Anima Magus and began meowing a series of curses.

"I curse Winter Sea Frenzied Shark's pet, the Thorns of Hatred, that it will never evolve unless an alien truly falls in love with it and is willing to die for it. Only then will the curse be lifted."

She had intended to say "unless a dragon truly loves him", but that was too harsh. Even with Essence Points, she couldn't curse successfully, so the curse was automatically adjusted to apply to an alien.

As she meowed, the curse rang out, but Rita was the only one who understood the words.

This was fun. When she got back to BS Star, she'd just use her Meow curse on Rick instead.

Now, Ancient Curse had only been used four times, and there were still three slots left. She could use two on Rick and keep one for emergencies.

She glanced back at the battlefield chat. Besides Nuclear Flash ·NightFury laughing, a few more powerful alien players had appeared, all of them with a combat rank of 17th tier or higher.

Players like Mistblade and Maple Syrup wouldn't dare laugh openly.

Some players, however, had already noticed something was wrong.

[Nuclear Flash ·NightFury]: What did you get stolen? Don't tell me it's your Ancient Curse?

[Nuclear Flash ·Pear]: I'm sure his Ancient Curse was stolen, because when he was cursed two months ago, my curse was lifted.

[Sakura ·Zi Li]: Haha, Frenzied Shark, you've finally got yours.

[Tingzhou ·Jing E]: Good for you! Hahaha, my curse is lifted too. This is what you get, Frenzied Shark!

As more and more players chimed in, Frenzied Shark was effectively silenced. Those with lower combat ranks started chatting too, all expressing their schadenfreude. It seemed that Frenzied Shark had cursed plenty of players in the past.

[Black Spring ·Mud Bears]: BS Rita, help me curse Lania Kaia and Maple Syrup. What's the price?

[Lania Kaia ·Maple Syrup]: She's my daughter. She wouldn't do that.

[Lania Kaia ·Mistblade]: Not her biological daughter.

[Lania Kaia ·Maple Syrup]: But better than biological.

Rita: ??? What's wrong with you two? They aren't even from the same world!

[Black Spring ·Mud Bears]: You two are sick, they're from different worlds!

[Lania Kaia ·Maple Syrup]: Look, we've been talking for so long, and she hasn't denied it. She's accepted it.

[Lania Kaia ·Maple Syrup]: Don't you know? BS was brought into the world battlefield by Lania Kaia.

[Lania Kaia ·Burn Cup]: How do you make it sound like you've done BS a favor?

[Lania Kaia ·Maple Syrup]: I learned it from you guys. Didn't Mistblade say that we from Forest Sea were brought into the world by Lania Kaia?

[Lania Kaia ·Maple Syrup]: Why are you so quiet? Don't like chatting?

Rita: Let's fight already!

Unfortunately, Rita remembered what Apache had said: Burn Cup was the most awkward of the Nine Moon Emperors… so it was hard to assess.

With only one minute left on the countdown, Rita and Nivalis quickly fell into the game, just as the alien players continued chatting.

One person, one dragon, appeared at the starting line of the race.

In front of them were several rows of karts, each more varied in style and color. Some looked like race cars, others like fish dishes, and some resembled motorcycles. There were a few size differences, but even the largest kart couldn't contain Rita's full body.

There were a few thousand karts, but with over twenty thousand players online for this divine game, there were likely multiple starting points.

Looking ahead, the track stretched into infinity, flanked by mountains. The sky had a pink ring, like a planet about to descend. The light was soft, and the entire sky looked like something out of a fairy tale, with countless sparks and floating pebbles.

And at that moment, the planetary ring was slowly rotating.
