Chapter 148: Where Does Your Confidence Come From?
"Sirus."
Staring impassively at Yuujin, Vegeta called him by his Saiyan name.
"Is it an honor that the princess herself remembers me?"
"So, you're really that Sirus who didn't even have a tail? A worthless thing like you managed to survive?"
Yuujin shrugged as Nappa looked at him in surprise.
Constantly calling him worthless, Yuujin's expression darkened. Nappa really hadn't changed—still as punchable as ever!
"Yuujin, Goku, are all your Saiyan kin like this?"
"They actually called Yuujin worthless—these guys are just insufferable!"
With an angry glint in her eyes, Launch frowned, and Goku huffed indignantly.
"Come on now, this is just how they are. You'll get used to it."
Yuujin reassured the two women, telling them not to get upset. While he seemed unbothered on the outside, he decided he'd teach Nappa a lesson later on how to behave.
They kept calling him a "worthless loser." Did they really think he was still that weak, pitiful creature they used to trample over? Soon enough, they'd see who the real worthless ones were!
"So, you're Raditz's sister? Bardock's daughter, Kakarot?"
Vegeta's gaze shifted to Goku as she asked.
"That's right. Yuujin told me my father's name is Bardock, and I'm Kakarot."
"But I go by Goku now—Son Goku!"
She had heard about her origins from Yuujin, but she preferred the name he had given her over her birth name.
"You not only fled here in shame but even abandoned your Saiyan name?"
"Both of you are a disgrace to the Saiyan race!"
Vegeta's voice grew cold, radiating a chilling aura. It was clear that Yuujin and Goku's renunciation of their Saiyan names had angered her.
"I was seen as a shameful failure in Saiyan evolution because I had no tail."
"And because Goku had low fighting potential at birth, she was also deemed a worthless trash."
"After all this time, why waste words calling us disgraces? Hasn't that always been the way you defined us?"
"If our own race doesn't acknowledge us, what's the harm in discarding our Saiyan names?"
"Princess, maybe you should just tell us why you're here on Earth. After all, we're kin—the few Saiyans left in this universe. I don't want to fight you without reason."
Meeting her gaze without flinching, Yuujin spoke calmly.
Truth be told, Yuujin had never thought being a Saiyan was something to be proud of. If it weren't for the practical benefits of their powerful bloodline, he considered the Saiyans just a band of ruthless, savage brutes.
Nothing about them was worthy of respect!
The tension thickened again. Nappa looked stunned, and Vegeta furrowed her brows.
In their memories, Sirus was a lowly, weak nobody that anyone on Planet Vegeta could bully and order around.
Where on earth did a worthless thing like him get the confidence to act so composed and assured?
Although she was perplexed, Vegeta didn't care to understand what kind of transformation Yuujin had gone through. She hadn't come all the way across the galaxy to play games.
"Sirus, Kakarot, did you kill Raditz?"
"That's right. We told him to leave Earth, but he wouldn't listen, so we had to kill him."
Vegeta asked, and Yuujin didn't deny it.
"Hmph. Not only did you abandon Saiyan pride, but you also killed Raditz. Both of you deserve death!"
"But as you said, Saiyans are scarce in this universe now, and if you could kill Raditz, then perhaps you two have some use."
"Surrender to me, leave this inferior planet, and follow my commands. Then I will pardon you."
Vegeta's cold snort showed she thought she was being extremely magnanimous. If there were more Saiyans around, she would've killed the two who had forsaken their Saiyan honor long ago.
"Princess, isn't that too lenient on them? I think we should just kill them."
Nappa suggested ruthlessly, finding it too easy on Yuujin and Goku.
"Nappa, are you questioning my decision?"
"N-No, Princess."
Vegeta glared coldly at Nappa, and he quickly lowered his head submissively.
Launch and Chi-Chi shot Nappa looks of disdain. Though he looked big and fierce, he was a complete coward in front of Vegeta.
"Tell me your answer, Sirus, Kakarot!"
Ignoring Nappa's puffed-up bravado, Vegeta fixed her gaze on Yuujin and Goku.
Their answer would determine whether she would spare or destroy them.
"Apologies, Princess."
"We're living quite well here on Earth and have no desire to become your lapdogs. If that's all, please leave this planet."
"Yeah, we're not going anywhere to follow your orders. Just leave our planet already!"
Yuujin shook his head, and Goku chimed in, pouting.
Vegeta hadn't spoken, but Nappa burst out furiously:
"What did you say?!"
From their words, it was as if he, too, was nothing but a dog!
Well, maybe that's how Vegeta actually saw him…
"So that's your choice, Sirus, Kakarot?"
Vegeta's gaze turned icy, apparently taken aback by their refusal.
It was as if the very air thickened with the killing intent radiating from her.
"Yes, that's our choice."
"There's no need to ask twice, Princess."
Yuujin nodded.
Once, he had been forced to grovel due to his weakness, but ever since arriving on Earth, he had vowed he would never bow to anyone again. Only he would decide his own fate.
And now she expected him to submit to her? Princess or not, he couldn't care less!
"Hmph, about time. All this chatter was tiresome."
"Hey, you two Saiyans over there—are you going to leave Earth, or will we make you stay here forever?"
Launch cracked her knuckles with a smirk.
She'd had enough of these two, and her blade was itching for action!
"You really dare defy me…?"
Vegeta's eyes closed as she muttered.
When they opened, they held only chilling resolve.
"Nappa, kill them!"
She had given them a chance. If these fools refused to follow her, then they no longer had a reason to live!
Nappa's mouth twisted into a cold, cruel grin.
"Heh heh heh…"
"As you command, Princess!"
