Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Mass Isn't Conserved, That's an MC Trait
Fu Zhu shattered the Godfall Sword's display case with an elbow strike, retrieved the sword from within, and carefully held it by its broken hilt, examining it.
[Broken Godfall Sword: Attack 7, Attack Speed 1.6, Durability 333]
Aside from its low durability, this Godfall Sword's stats were completely identical to a diamond sword from Minecraft. Although it only had 333 durability, it could at least help him get through the early stages where he lacked any materials.
Gripping it, Fu Zhu casually swung forward. A white, crescent-shaped wave of air blew the shattered glass shards two meters away.
This made Fu Zhu raise an eyebrow in surprise. This white sword qi should be the sweeping attack associated with sword-type weapons; he hadn't expected it to manifest as sword qi.
Looking at it this way, the Steve traits he had acquired were far stronger than he had imagined!
After waiting for Fu Zhu and Xing to choose their weapons, Dan Heng urged them on again.
"Time to go. Fu Zhu, Xing, are you two ready?"
Fu Zhu nodded, slinging the Godfall Sword diagonally at his side. Xing grinned, hoisting the baseball bat onto her shoulder.
"No problem, let's move out." ×2
The four left the Curio Collection Room in single file and, under Dan Heng's lead, headed straight for the central elevator shaft. Along the way, the originally tidy corridor was littered with the remains of monsters Fu Zhu didn't recognize.
Fu Zhu merely glanced briefly at the monster remains before looking away and walking past them.
However, in the instant he passed by, Fu Zhu caught something out of the corner of his eye – it seemed something had been sucked into his body from the monster remains. This sudden development 'startled' him, making him stop abruptly.
Dan Heng, walking ahead, noticed Fu Zhu had stopped and immediately halted as well, staying vigilant of their surroundings while asking Fu Zhu.
"Fu Zhu, what's wrong?"
Fu Zhu frowned, opened his inventory to check, and found that the previously empty inventory now contained two bones.
Were those sucked in from the monster remains just now?
Indeed, he also possessed Steve's auto-pickup ability, though the pickup range was the same as in MC, only about three meters.
Confirming that nothing strange had been sucked into his inventory, Fu Zhu breathed a sigh of relief. He then looked curiously at the monster remains, an idea dawning on him.
"Can you give me a minute? I need to confirm something."
Dan Heng glanced at the time on his phone, then nodded.
"Okay, you have one and a half minutes at most. Any longer than that won't work."
"Thanks, that's enough."
Fu Zhu walked over to one of the monster corpses, crouched down, and used the Godfall Sword to try and cut off its carapace and limbs, then held them in his hand.
[Voidranger Carapace]
[Current Conversion Option: Leather]
[Voidranger Limb]
[Current Conversion Option: Bone]
Fu Zhu's eyes lit up as if he had found treasure.
This so-called conversion trait could even be toggled on or off at his discretion – it was almost too convenient!
Looking at it this way, no matter what monster he encountered in the future, he had to find a way to take it down!
Although there were still many monster corpses in the corridor, Fu Zhu didn't waste time dissecting them one by one. To craft a leather set, he would need a crafting table at the very least.
But what he lacked most right now were basic materials. More leather wouldn't be useful yet. It would be better to wait until this area was completely safe, then come back and collect slowly.
Besides, the monsters here wouldn't naturally despawn like in MC.
"I'm done, let's keep moving."
The group set off again. This time, however, Fu Zhu kept an extra eye out. Whenever he saw monster remains on the path, he would actively approach them to pick up a few bones using his auto-pickup ability.
Bones had many uses; he certainly didn't mind having more.
Xing, walking behind Fu Zhu, noticed his small movements. Her expression became a little unnatural. She then found an opportunity to sidle up to Fu Zhu and whisper.
"Bro, don't tell me you're some kind of mad scientist or a serial killer?"
Hearing this, Fu Zhu turned his head with a strange look at his newfound little sister.
"You're overthinking it. These things are just useful to me. I'll show you later, and you'll understand."
Xing nodded knowingly, then patted Fu Zhu's shoulder.
"Okay, bro! In the future, if I get a chicken drumstick to eat, you'll have a bone to use!"
"..."
"We've reached the central elevator shaft."
Dan Heng, at the front, suddenly spoke and stopped walking. However, the expression on his face wasn't pleasant, and his hands tightened around the Cloud-Piercer spear.
Fu Zhu and the others looked ahead past Dan Heng. Three Voidrangers were blocking the necessary path to the central elevator.
"Let's make this quick. March, protect these two."
Dan Heng instructed March 7th, then charged towards the three Voidrangers, Cloud-Piercer in hand. March 7th quickly cast a blessing on Dan Heng, then stood guard in front of Fu Zhu and Xing, drawing her bowstring to provide ranged support.
"Bro, let's go too!"
Xing shouted to Fu Zhu and charged out, baseball bat raised.
Fu Zhu had intended to go along and help, but he suddenly heard footsteps coming from the room to their right. He had no choice but to stay beside March 7th, sword ready.
Although he didn't know how strong Dan Heng and March 7th were, leaving a girl using a bow alone at the rear could be troublesome if she got ambushed.
March 7th understood Fu Zhu's intention and gave him a sweet smile before continuing to fire arrows to assist Dan Heng and Xing.
The next second, the metal door to their right suddenly burst open, fragments flying towards Fu Zhu and March 7th.
Fu Zhu reacted quickly, immediately bringing the Godfall Sword horizontally in front of him.
With several clinks, the metal door fragments flying towards them were all blocked. The fragments that landed at Fu Zhu's feet were instantly sucked into his inventory.
Fu Zhu subconsciously opened his inventory, took out one of the larger fragments, and held it in his left hand.
[Metal Door Fragment]
[Current Conversion Option: Iron Door]
This works too?
Fu Zhu glanced at the smaller fragments scattered at his feet. It seemed only pieces roughly large enough to be held in one hand could be converted.
Before Fu Zhu could think further, several roars sounded as two Voidrangers charged out from the broken room.
Fu Zhu glanced at the charging Voidrangers, noticing their strange body structure with gaps in their torsos. Aiming for these gaps, he threw the metal door fragment directly at one.
Fu Zhu timed it perfectly. Waiting until the metal door fragment entered the Voidranger's body, he mentally commanded.
'Convert.'
The next second, a two-meter tall, one-meter wide iron door abruptly materialized inside the Voidranger, instantly tearing its entire torso in two and simultaneously blocking the attack of the second Voidranger.
MC Power!
