This Danzo Is Weird!

Chapter 70: 70. Tsunade – "I Won’t Lose to Danzo!"

"Damn you, Sunagakure!"

A furious roar echoed from Kikyo Castle, so powerful that it sent flocks of birds flying from the surrounding Kikyo Mountains in panic.

At the heart of the outburst stood Tsunade, one of the legendary Sannin, now the acting commander in Danzo's absence.

Her rage was so intense that when she slammed the scroll onto the table, she misjudged her strength—

And completely shattered the entire desk.

Behind their masks, Kakashi and Shisui exchanged glances, both unfazed.

They had seen this countless times before.

Tsunade's leadership style was a stark contrast to Danzo's.

Danzo was cold, calculating, and unshakable, no matter how dire the situation.

Of course, this didn't mean he was soft-hearted.

On the contrary, he was ruthlessly aggressive.

After careful analysis, Danzo would often come up with terrifyingly brutal counterattacks, the kind that even his own men feared.

Tsunade, however, was different.

Like the Raikage candidate from Kumogakure, she was the explosive, hot-blooded type—

She never bottled up her emotions and always expressed her anger on the spot.

Today was no exception.

The intel Kakashi brought had utterly enraged her—

Sunagakure's Poisonous Tactics

Sunagakure's senior advisor, Chiyo, had deployed multiple forms of poison along the border regions, causing mass poisonings among Konoha's forces.

A large-scale medical team was now urgently needed.

"That old hag Chiyo is using such despicable tactics!"

Tsunade roared, her massive chest heaving with each breath.

Under his mask, Kakashi remained calm.

To him, a true ninja should be willing to use any means necessary to secure victory.

In war, there were no rules.

However, even he had to admit—

Chiyo's latest poison was far more cunning than expected.

Its toxicity wasn't particularly lethal, but it was highly concealed—

It could be spread through water sources, air, and even living organisms.

Many border patrol units had unknowingly ingested the poison by consuming wild animals from the area.

Worse still, the poison didn't take effect immediately.

Instead, it accumulated in the body over time, making it nearly impossible to detect—

Until it suddenly activated, incapacitating entire units of seemingly healthy soldiers.

"Lady Tsunade, we need to act fast."

Kakashi's voice was steady and serious as he laid out the two possible options:

1. Deploy reinforcements and save the poisoned troops.

2. Abandon the poisoned troops and retreat before further losses.

With Danzo and Minato away, Konoha's border forces near the Land of Rain and Land of Hot Water had been left crippled.

Tsunade was the only Kage-level fighter left to defend the region—

But for certain unspoken reasons, she had been unable to take the battlefield personally.

This unusual hesitation had not gone unnoticed.

Chiyo, a battle-hardened veteran, had sensed something was off.

However, she was too cautious to launch a full-scale attack, fearing another disastrous defeat like the Battle of Kikyo Mountain.

Instead, she chose a war of attrition, gradually weakening Konoha's forces with poison while probing for weaknesses.

This had left Konoha's border troops in desperate need of reinforcements—

And their request had one name in mind:

Tsunade.

As the greatest medical-nin in history, she was the only one who could possibly neutralize Chiyo's poison.

Hearing Kakashi's proposal, Shisui's face darkened.

His kind nature made it unthinkable to abandon their poisoned comrades.

But the final decision wasn't his to make—

It was Tsunade's.

She now stood motionless, her expression shifting between anger, frustration, and uncertainty—

Trapped in deep conflict.

As the Princess of Konoha, the granddaughter of its founder, Senju Hashirama, and one of the Legendary Sannin, Tsunade undeniably held deep feelings for her village.

She was willing to fight for Konoha.

But the problem was—she knew her current state made her unfit for war.

If she saw blood on the battlefield, she would completely lose her ability to fight.

If she had a choice, she would stay as far away from battle as possible…

"Damn it! Why did they leave me here as commander?!"

"Damn you, Danzo!"

He was the one who chose to take on this mess, yet now she was the one forced to make the tough decisions!

Tsunade's mind roared with frustration.

As the disciple of Sarutobi Hiruzen, she had never liked her ruthless senior, Danzo.

In fact, she even detested him.

But now, she had no choice but to put herself in his shoes—

If she were Danzo, how would she handle this situation?

The answer shocked her.

Without any hesitation, Danzo would have immediately mobilized the army and attacked Sunagakure.

He had done so before, even against the combined forces of Sunagakure and Kumogakure.

Now that only Sunagakure remained, his choice was obvious.

"Damn it… I won't lose to that bastard!"

Tsunade suddenly muttered under her breath.

Kakashi and Shisui glanced at each other in confusion.

"Lady Tsunade, did you say something?"

"Nothing…"

Tsunade lifted her head, her eyes burning with determination.

"We go!"

"I will never abandon my comrades!"

With their orders confirmed, Kakashi and Shisui immediately stood at attention.

"Understood!"

---

The Turmoil at the Border

At the intersection of the Land of Rain, the Land of Hot Water, and the Land of Fire, chaos reigned.

As a buffer zone between two major nations, this region had always been plagued by conflict.

The recent intensification of the war between Sunagakure and Konoha had only made things worse.

"Elder Chiyo, the Konoha border troops have suffered massive poisonings. Their medical teams are stretched too thin—this is the perfect time to launch an attack!"

A Sunagakure reconnaissance jonin reported to Commander Chiyo.

Chiyo was a formidable kunoichi of the same generation as Sarutobi Hiruzen, Danzo Shimura, and Hanzo of the Salamander.

A master of puppetry and medical ninjutsu, she was one of Sunagakure's most influential leaders, overseeing both its puppet corps and medical teams.

During the Second Great Ninja War, her medical expertise had allowed her to neutralize Hanzo's deadly poison, securing Sunagakure's victory over Amegakure.

For this, she became known as Hanzo's greatest rival.

Now, though aged and frail, with wrinkles on her face and a thin, withered frame, her strength on the battlefield remained formidable.

Her prowess extended beyond her puppetry—her poisons were just as terrifying.

Perhaps due to her many battles with Hanzo, Chiyo had begun developing her own deadly toxins after the Second Great Ninja War.

And in this war, her poisons had proven devastating.

But she was not reckless.

"The only person in Konoha capable of countering my poison… is that little girl, Tsunade."

Chiyo narrowed her eyes, a flicker of killing intent flashing across them.

"If we eliminate her, we can dominate the battlefield with our poison!"
