Chapter 3:
Chapter 3: Can’t Even Withstand My Pressure, and You Dare Call Yourself the Protagonist? What’s the Panic Over Being Expelled From the Sect?
“A duel at the same realm?” Chu Junge sneered coldly. “Trash should at least be self-aware. You’re weak and you blame others for it?”
“A duel at your level? You think you’re even qualified?”
BOOM! His voice was icy as he stood up. At that moment, a terrifying pressure erupted from his body. The air around him trembled with muffled rumbling sounds. The runic chains behind him grew more illusory, as though they would collapse at any moment.
As the power of his Divine Body stirred, scenes like ‘A moon rising from the seabed,’ and ‘A chaotic lotus blooming’ played out behind him. All kinds of divine phenomena manifested. Lines of divine script fell from the void, like seals crashing down toward Li Fan.
Faced with Chu Junge’s overwhelming pressure and calm gaze, Li Fan roared in defiance, but it was like a candle trying to compete with the brilliance of the moon—completely powerless.
With the sound of bones cracking, blood flowed from Li Fan’s seven orifices. His body collapsed, falling to his knees with a heavy thud.
“Heh, this is it? I haven’t even attacked yet. You can’t even withstand my pressure, and you think you’re qualified to fight me?”
“I told you to kneel, so you better kneel before me and stay kneeling.”
Chu Junge withdrew his pressure and mocked him coldly.
[Ding! Host has severely injured the Child of Destiny. Congratulations, you’ve received 1000 Luck Points.]
[Ding! Host publicly humiliated the Child of Destiny. The protagonist’s halo has been damaged. Critical hit! Congratulations, you’ve received 3000 Luck Points.]
Two system notifications echoed in Chu Junge’s mind.
Another 4000 Luck Points, just like that!
“AHHH! Chu Junge! I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you! If you hadn’t started cultivating earlier than me, how would you possibly be stronger? You wouldn’t even be my match!”
“You’re just relying on your higher cultivation! If you’ve got the guts, fight me at the same realm! Fight me at the same realm!”
Shame overwhelmed Li Fan. His whole body trembled, his eyes filled with hatred as he roared in frustration.
In response, Chu Junge gave him a look. Just the divine light in his eyes made Li Fan vomit blood again. This time, he didn’t dare act out anymore, keeping his head down while seething with resentment.
“Chu Junge, how dare you! Do you still see your Master, the Sect Master, in your eyes? Do you still respect the Elders? Don’t make me expel you from the sect! You ungrateful disciple, kneel and apologize immediately!” Liu Haitian thundered in fury.
“Then expel me from the sect,” Chu Junge said indifferently.
“Good, good, then I will expel—” Liu Haitian almost blurted it out in anger but stopped himself just in time. He swallowed the rest of his words with great difficulty.
What nonsense! Expel him?
Liu Haitian’s pupils shrank.
That absolutely could not happen.
If Chu Junge was expelled, who would guard the Demon Cave? If the demon race inside rioted, the entire Star River Sect would be wiped out.
The other Elders also realized this and gulped instinctively. They quickly sent voice transmissions to Liu Haitian, urging him to calm Chu Junge down at all costs.
“Junge, I was only joking with you. Just admit your mistake and hand over a drop of your Demon Body essence blood to Li Fan, and I’ll overlook everything,” Liu Haitian said, taking a deep breath to suppress his anger. He forced a smile and spoke with apparent magnanimity. “Don’t say things like that. I know you’ve always been loyal to the sect and respectful to your elders. You’d never do anything that truly crosses the line.”
“Senior Brother, stop joking already. We all know your personality. How could you ever abandon us?” Liu Yan’er said coldly. “Don’t make a scene anymore. Otherwise, my father and I will truly be upset. You’ve already hurt Junior Brother like this. Just apologize, and we’ll forgive you.”
“Senior Brother, it’s all my fault. Please don’t betray the sect,” Li Fan added, trying to look sincere while healing. “If you don’t guard the Demon Cave, what will happen to the sect’s disciples? You can be angry at me, but please don’t drag innocent people into it.”
“If you’re still upset, you can continue to vent your anger on me. Just don’t take it out on others. Are you really going to be so selfish?”
It didn’t matter if Chu Junge betrayed the sect—but the Demon Cave had to remain guarded. If Chu Junge didn’t guard it, then who would? Surely they couldn’t relocate the entire sect.
If the sect moved, Li Fan would lose his steady access to demon essence blood. He joined the Star River Sect precisely because of its endless supply of demon blood. If he couldn’t get it, he couldn’t accept that.
“Yes, I am selfish. Since you won’t expel me, then I’ll leave the sect myself,” Chu Junge said playfully.
Walk away just like that?
Where’s the fun in that?
If Li Fan wanted to play the white lotus and turn everyone against him, then Chu Junge would simply return the favor—twice as hard. If he didn’t crush Li Fan properly, how else was he supposed to rack up Luck Points?
Besides, Chu Junge had no intention of letting this ungrateful sect off the hook so easily.
“Li Fan, how dare you speak to your senior brother like that? Slap yourself!” Liu Haitian snapped, his voice filled with anger—but it wasn’t aimed at Chu Junge. It was at Li Fan.
Damn it, I’ve already swallowed my pride, and you’re still provoking Chu Junge?
If Chu Junge really left, would you be able to guard the Demon Cave? Your cultivation’s not enough!
He couldn’t scold his daughter, so he took it out on Li Fan instead. In an effort to appease Chu Junge, Liu Haitian immediately slapped Li Fan hard across the face. The injury Li Fan had just barely recovered from flared up again, and he spat out another mouthful of blood.
“???” Li Fan stared at Liu Haitian in disbelief. He never expected his beloved Master would actually strike him just to protect Chu Junge.
“Chu Junge… Liu Haitian…” Li Fan clenched his teeth. “You’ve humiliated me. All of you have humiliated me. You’re already walking the path of death.”
Li Fan seethed inwardly, but on the surface, he trembled and bowed to Chu Junge with a look of false humility.
[Ding! The Child of Destiny has been humiliated by his own people. Congratulations, host, you have received 1000 Luck Points.]
The system’s voice sounded again.
“Senior Brother Chu, look—Father already punished Li Fan. He’s still young and doesn’t know any better. Please don’t hold it against him,” Liu Yan’er said, seeing her father’s expression. Though she was unhappy with him for hurting Li Fan, she understood that the bigger picture was more important and tried to smooth things over.
“Marvelous! Marvelous! What a glorious dog-eat-dog drama. I’m loving it. You all go ahead and continue,” Chu Junge clapped his hands and praised with a smile.
“…?”
The expressions of Liu Haitian and the other Elders turned pitch black.
Dog-eat-dog?
You’re calling us dogs?
You think we’re here for your amusement? Marvelous, huh?
We’ve already humbled ourselves, and you still act this ungratefully. You damn brat!
“Chu Junge, this sect has tolerated your arrogance again and again, and yet you push further every time. You refuse to drink the wine of courtesy, so you’ll drink the wine of punishment instead. Don’t blame us for what happens next!”
“You want to be expelled? Fine! But as for the Demon Cave—you’ll guard it whether you like it or not!”
Liu Haitian’s voice turned sinister.
The other Elders stood up one after another, releasing waves of pressure from their bodies.
“You finally couldn’t hold back, huh? What took you so long?” Chu Junge chuckled.
“Master, Elders, Senior Brother didn’t mean any harm. Just give him a little punishment and he’ll change his ways,” Li Fan quickly said with fake concern.
“Chu Junge, I’ll ask you one last time. Will you guard the Demon Cave or not?” Liu Haitian said coldly.
As he spoke, he flipped his palm and took out a radiant disc that shone with colorful light.
“Chu Junge, did you really think we wouldn’t prepare for this?”
“This is our Star River Sect’s supreme treasure—the Star River Disc. I suspected you’d rebel, so I brought it in advance.”
“Now, I’ll give you one final chance. Admit you were wrong and vow to obediently guard the Demon Cave from now on, and I’ll let you go this time.”
“If you refuse—half of your cultivation is being used to suppress the Demon Cave. You’re no match for us in your current state.” Liu Haitian’s voice turned frigid.
