Chapter 371: Enter Through the Exit
There were no screams at the scene.
The ticket seller just violently threw away the devil's head in his hand after realizing what had happened, the hollow sunlight falling on the head as if the plastic texture suddenly returned.
After understanding that it was just a fake head, the shaken ticket seller slowly calmed down.
Two men standing nearby also snapped back to reality after a moment of astonishment, looking curiously at the devil's head on the ground, "What is this, a prop from the Haunted House? How did it fly out?"
Just then, the curtain at the Haunted House exit was lifted again, and a tall figure over one meter ninety came out first, followed closely by a female tourist and a male security guard.
Having spent too long in the dark and gloomy Haunted House, the three of them squinted their eyes to adjust to the sunlight upon seeing it.
Suddenly, they saw the three people standing not far away with different expressions, as well as the devil's head lying on the ground.
"What happened?" the male security guard asked sharply.
Had there been some eerie incident inside the Haunted House while something else occurred outside?
Otherwise, why would everyone have such strange expressions?
The male tourist waved his hand and pointed to the Haunted House prop that had scared the ticket seller's face pale, countering with a question, "Why did you throw this thing out, what happened inside?"
Xu Shuo, seeing this, hastily explained, "Oh, sorry, I threw that out to check the path, to see if we could leave through the Haunted House exit."
"Just now, were you trapped in the Haunted House?" the male tourist raised an eyebrow, seizing upon the crucial point.
"Sort of, we also found some clues," Shuo said as he reached into his clothing pocket, but found it empty.
He paused and turned to look at the female tourist and the security guard.
The male security guard was taken aback, then he too felt in his pockets, while the female tourist, wearing a long knitted dress without pockets, did not make the gesture.
She frowned and said, "Items cannot be taken out. When I just walked out of the Haunted House and came to my senses, the pearl I was holding had disappeared."
The three of them had brought out various pieces of evidence found at the scene, but now, except for their clothing, they had nothing on them.
The male security guard looked at the devil's head lying on the ground and remarked, "And yet this prop was taken out by us."
Xu Shuo pondered, "Maybe it's because this prop doesn't belong to the crime scene? Or perhaps, this thing is unrelated to the murder case, so anything we come across after leaving the crime scene becomes part of the real world?"
The male security guard nodded thoughtfully, "Possibly."
Listening to their conversation, the trio of suspects on the opposite side became even more puzzled.
The Park Director asked curiously, "What did you encounter inside? Can we exchange information?"
The male security guard nodded, "Of course, in a nutshell, each of us saw our own version of the crime scene when we went in."
The crowd: "...?"
That explanation was too vague. The male security guard took some time to explain in more detail.
He described everything from the entrance automatically closing and not being able to be opened, to the passage suddenly turning into a dark steel plate hallway, then each person's own reenactment of the crime scene they witnessed, and finally the locked backdoor of the Haunted House.
As for the devil's head that was thrown out, it was indeed just a tool for finding the way, with no other purpose.
The ticket seller then quietly let go of the heart he had been holding up.
But what again caused everyone's hearts to be lifted was the eerie state of the crime scene recreation inside the Haunted House—that it was a "Mutant Script" with elements of magic!
Isn't this classification a bit strange?
Normally, a script with even the slightest element of magic is considered a Mutant Script.
However, sometimes those elements of magic are not the main culprits in causing the crime and do not actively harm the players, so they still can only be considered a regular script.
"The clues we collected on our side can only be counted as part of the puzzle. Next, we have to continue checking the places where everyone has been. Therefore, we can't be sure who the killer is," the male security guard said, looking towards the three people opposite, "Besides, how did it go on your side?"
"We've checked the Ferris wheel, roller coaster, spacewalk, and even the free fall tower," the Park Director said.
"There were no signs or clues of the mysterious person at these high points," the male tourist added.
It was indeed easy to observe the entire amusement park from these locations, but they were also the places where one would be most exposed, so anyone with a bit of sense would generally avoid them, hence they were not too fixated on finding anyone there.
The Park Director continued, "As for other exits, the amusement park is surrounded on all sides by heightened electric fences; we didn't overlook any corner or alleyways. There's simply no way to get out."
On hearing this, the female tourist pondered, "What about the manhole covers? Have you tried those?"
As her words fell, several men immediately turned to look at her, sizing her up and down a few times, likely imagining the scene of a beauty crawling through a sewer.
Unfortunately, the Park Director shook his head in grief and anger, "Stop, there's an electrical grid below the manhole cover!"
Everyone: "..."
This really was a case of no way up to heaven and no way down to earth.
The atmosphere suddenly became very tense.
If the mysterious person wasn't actually inside the amusement park, then the most likely scenario was that they were monitoring them remotely through surveillance, or perhaps there was some Mutant Script element in the surveillance.
"Regardless, the exit still cannot be abandoned in our search."
After a moment of silence, a female tourist said seriously, "I don't believe that after finding the murderer, the mysterious person will really let us leave. We must search for the exit!"
Always brimming with smiles, she rarely spoke so harshly. The female tourist had a calm look in her eyes, and it was hard to tell what she was thinking for a moment.
People looked at each other, some agreeing with her point of view, but others still wanted to try to find the murderer and then go to the security room to enter the evidence.
The script wouldn't have an impossible task; there had to be a way to leave the amusement park. But where that was, they had to find out for themselves.
"I think it's better to do it this way..."
Suddenly, Xu Shuo spoke up, "Since the Haunted House lets us see the crime scene as it was at that time, then you three can also choose to go for a round inside. Perhaps everyone will see something different, and then we can exchange clues afterwards."
The Park Director was somewhat surprised, "We can also go inside to see?"
Wasn't there a prior concern that they might be the murderers and could conceal evidence?
Oh right, the Haunted House now showed them what those who had been through it at the time of the incident had seen, whereas for someone who had not been in the Haunted House at the time of the crime, what they would see would just be the scene after the police investigation was complete.
Because of this change, in principle, it was impossible to prevent the murderer from hiding evidence, and those searching for the murderer could also search without concern.
The trio of suspects looked at each other, their expressions already revealing their willingness to go inside.
Even though they knew the Haunted House had eerie conditions.
But this first group had already come out safely, and with their experience, the others could also go inside to check things out.
While the other two hesitated, the ticket seller said in a low voice, "Then I'll go take a look inside."
Immediately, the other two were no longer hesitant.
"Let's switch this time, our group will go inside to search for clues, and your group can go look for the trace of the mysterious person or find a way to leave the amusement park!" the male tourist finally decided.
Xu Shuo smiled without saying a word.
The male security guard nodded in agreement, "Sure, but we don't have much time left now. You'd better not stay inside for too long."
They had been in the Haunted House for over an hour, so it was probably past four in the afternoon now, leaving less than two hours until six o'clock.
No one knew if the madman was really planning to blow up the entire amusement park.
"Alright, we will come out as quickly as possible!"
Afterward, the trio from the suspect group tentatively pushed open the entrance to the Haunted House, exchanged glances, and walked in one by one.
The three who had just come out stood at the door watching. After a moment, they saw the unmoving wooden door being pushed close silently, as if an invisible force had moved it. Enjoy more content from My Virtual Library Empire
Xu Shuo stepped forward and tried to twist the doorknob.
"It won't open."
"The exit can be opened," the male security guard said from the other side.
"So, are you going to try going in from the exit to see if you can meet them?" the female tourist spoke out faintly.
"..."
"..."
After a silent moment at the scene, Xu Shuo let go of the door handle and said, "Nevermind, I plan to look for the bombs in the amusement park."
