There is no happy ending

CHAPTER :2.3

EPISODE:2.3

CONTINUED…

It was. This was not the first time Bliss had seen another woman. During their six-year engagement, Bliss often saw other women.

Casual one-night stands, not romantic relationships. Sometimes it was a mutual interest, but most of the time it was a short fling.

They were people of low status, but usually very prominent in their fields, and most of them ended neatly and didn’t start messy rumors.

They didn’t want it, and in their case, they didn’t care because they wouldn’t normally crawl up to where Bianca was.

The lack of rumors creeping up on Bianca meant that no matter how many times they met, they couldn’t tarnish her name.

Still, it also meant that Bliss valued Bianca above his brief affairs.

‘But this time is different.

Bianca’s face twisted into a grimace.

‘You expect me to stay quiet when your stupid rumors have reached my ears?’

‘I’m telling you not to get upset.’

‘If the line between you and me is such that you don’t become a liability to me, then I’ll keep it. But when my reputation depends on your behavior, how can I not be pissed off?’

Bliss’s voice remained level, but Bianca’s grew louder and louder. When Bianca finished speaking, she looked at Bliss with eyes that slanted upwards.

Aside from Bianca’s flushed cheeks, Bliss’s face was like a slab of ice. It was the same as always.

A face that showed no sign of any emotion and Bianca was not hurt. Bianca’s face to Bliss would be no different.

For the past six years, it had always been that way.

‘But why?

Bianca suddenly felt, for …… the first time, like she wanted to cower in Bliss’s presence.

It was a good thing the terrace wasn’t bright. Bliss didn’t notice the tiny tears that had formed in Bianca’s eyes.

Bianca opened her eyes immediately, trying not to blink, even accidentally.

Bianca’s voice trembled with what she couldn’t tell was anger or sadness.

‘I’ll give you one last chance to answer. What kind of girl you are with?’

Bianca’s emotions were far from angry. If anything, it was more like desperation, on the verge of collapse.

But Bliss thought the tremor in Bianca’s voice was caused by Nogi. For as much as Bianca knew Bliss, Bliss did not know Bianca.

Bliss had been very honest in front of Bianca. A six-year contract was a contract, but it was also like sharing a big secret. So it just happened naturally.

In front of everyone else, there was no pretense between them.

Bliss made no secret of his displeasure.

‘Don’t bother me. That’s my private life.’

‘What?’

‘Don’t be silly in front of other people, it’s a pain in the arse to deal with.’

Bliss peered into the ballroom quickly, like someone who wanted to get off the terrace. The curtains were drawn so she couldn’t see inside the ballroom, but he’d rather look at the ruffled curtains than at Bianca.

Bliss sometimes found it frustrating to look at Bianca.

That was Bianca Moening, the woman with the blue blood, the woman he’d never wanted for anything, the woman he’d never wanted for anything.

Nothing seemed to go his way when he looked at her. Bliss avoided eye contact so often.

Bliss quickly realized that he couldn’t go into the ballroom alone, but he rubbed the corners of his eyes and exhaled lightly, hoping to escape the current situation, if only for a moment.

‘I’ll get some champagne.’

Bliss turned to leave the terrace but paused and looked at Bianca. Bianca stood still, her fists clenched tightly.

Bianca’s face was still gorgeous and fierce. Like an ornate iron fortress, Bliss thought.

A woman who could never be broken. There was a small noise, but Bliss thought that Bianca and he would live ‘well’.

With that noise, Bianca Moening doesn’t let go of Bliss Winston.

‘……Relax.’

With those words, sounding exhausted, Bliss slips out onto the terrace.

So Bliss doesn’t know. What Bliss doesn’t know is that Bianca’s eyes rolled back in her head as he left the terrace.

Tears streamed from Bianca’s eyes. Bianca has always been high-minded and arrogant, and she’s never shed a tear in front of anyone.

And now, just because of Bliss.

It’s a fact that would shock and appall others if they knew.

Dubbed a couple of the century, there was no love between Bianca Moening and Bliss Winston. They were an obvious showbiz couple.

Their six-year engagement, which began when Bianca was sixteen and Bliss was twenty, was for a common goal.

The only thing that kept them together was ‘aristocratic honor’.

It’s a relationship that’s been built from the ground up by consent.

The abacus bounced, and papers and contracts were exchanged.

It’s been six years, a little more than half a decade if you’re talking about a change of scenery. Time flies faster than you think, so maybe it has already changed once.

But the relationship between Bianca and Bliss hasn’t changed.

For the first time, Bianca was tired of it.

Surely, she thought, she would have a solid life. Marry Bliss, have children and live a life of glamour.

Taking on both Winston’s name and Moening’s name would make her truly unstoppable.

For a moment, Bianca could not imagine a life other than that. And that imagination, for the most part, made her happy.

She felt like she could play with anything she could get her hands on. She lived like that for twenty-two years. I was deluded into thinking that nothing would ever go my way.

No love, but yes, Bliss would be happy with Bianca, or so I thought.

But it wasn’t so.

Bianca knew Bliss well enough to know, not for the first time, that there was another woman in Bliss’s life who was not Bianca.

What the story didn’t say about the woman until the end was that Bliss had put some weight behind her.

If it wasn’t a big deal, he would have said something to prove it wasn’t.

Emotions are not something you can control at will. Bianca knows that.

But at the same time, Bianca knew that Bliss was in love, and she knew that she would never be his first.

Bianca was bitterly saddened by that realization.
