Chapter 7: A true soldier
Cris took a deep breath, still processing the horrific vision from earlier. He wiped the sweat from his brow and looked around the abandoned shelter. "So this place used to have people," he muttered. "But they got attacked by these Zeezos... and the original owner must have died fighting them.
Big salute to you, soldier. Don't worry, I'll make this shelter new again."
A notification flashed in his vision—his reward for completing the quest. He received a set of advanced tools along with instructions on how to use them.
Another blueprint materialized in front of him, showing a detailed layout of the shelter, including a dormitory area where survivors once rested.
Cris turned to the AI. "Trixie, guide me to the dormitory."
"Of course, Master. Please follow me."
As they navigated the corridors, the shelter's condition became more apparent—dust-covered floors, broken furniture, and flickering lights.
When they arrived, the dormitory doors opened, revealing a massive hall with a staircase leading up to multiple rooms.
"Master," Trixie spoke, "if you wish to rest, you can use the Admin Room. It's located at the center."
Cris nodded. "Alright, lead the way."
Inside, the Admin Room was surprisingly well-kept compared to the rest of the shelter. A sleek desk sat near the entrance, and a separate door led to the sleeping quarters.
The room felt strangely familiar, as if the previous owner had spent countless nights here.
Trixie bowed slightly. "Master, I have cleaned your room. You may rest now. I will be right outside. Call me if you need anything."
Cris sighed in relief. He removed his armor and stretched his sore muscles, catching a glimpse of himself in the mirror.
His body was toned, built for endurance and battle.
"Damn," he mumbled. "This body is so strong..."
He sat on the bed, running his fingers through his hair. "Finally, a real bed. In my previous world, I never got to sleep properly because of that damn job... but now..."
A deep exhaustion washed over him, and before he could think any further, he drifted into a peaceful sleep for the first time in ages.
