The Witcher: Lord of the Empire

Chapter 24: Why do you want to become a witcher?

Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon, the heir of the Elder Blood, the future savior.

Her biological father is the emperor of the largest empire in the mainland, and her biological mother is the heir to a powerful ancient bloodline; her adoptive father is a legendary witcher, and her adoptive mother is a powerful sorceress among the top ten in the mainland. In the future, there will be a monarch from an elf dynasty who falls in love with her and dies because of it.

Although 'The Witcher Series' is a fantasy adventure story with the 'White Wolf' Geralt as the protagonist, it does not seem inconsistent at all to regard most of the plots as a prequel to 'The Legend of Cirilla'.

Let’s take a look at what the main plot is about: Geralt’s fate begins to be connected with Ciri; Geralt and Ciri meet; Geralt and Ciri separate; Geralt and Ciri meet again; Geralt begins to protect and teach Ciri; Geralt and Ciri were separated; Geralt formed a team and embarked on the road to find Ciri; Geralt found Ciri; Geralt and Ciri were separated again; Geralt lost his memory; Geralt regained his memory The search for Ciri begins again; Geralt finds Ciri; Ciri saves the world.

At the end of the story, Ciri, who became the savior, can choose: to become a super witcher who can freely adventure in the multi-dimensional world; or to inherit the most powerful empire on the continent and be crowned queen.

Although the above description ignores many details, the general meaning is similar...it is just a joke, just a joke.

Now, our future savior is just a little princess who is still in class.

...

Time for breaks between classes.

After finishing the knowledge test, Ciri held on to Lann's clothes pitifully and wouldn't let go.

“Lann, I don’t want to get married... I’ve seen that prince of Verden. He’s fat, ugly, stupid and has bad breath. I don’t want to marry him..."

Lann knew that this marriage was unlikely to succeed. After Queen Calanthe sent Ciri to Verden, Ciri would escape, which would eventually trigger a short storyline called 'The Sword of Destiny', in which the witcher Geralt and Ciri, united by destiny, would meet.

Furthermore, due to the additional political considerations of the Kingdom of Verden in this marriage process and the attempt to kill Ciri, Cintra and Verden will terminate their engagement and even their alliance.

After this story, there was a massive invasion of Nilfgaard and the destruction of Cintra.

Lann, who is familiar with the future, comforted Ciri softly. "Don't worry, Your Highness Princess, you will not marry the prince of Verden, and the engagement will not be fulfilled, I guarantee it."

Ciri raised her mouse-grey head, her eyes shining brightly: "You promise?"

"I promise."

Ciri was soon sent aside to play by Lann and Mousesack, and the old man and the young man sat down to talk about business.

“You seem to have made some oath, Lann. Since you have been obsessed with magic recently, you should know that in the field of occultism, oaths and fate always have wonderful power.”

The druid joked at Lann with a smile. After that, the topic got down to business.

Mousesack said: "You asked me before if you had the talent of magic Source. Then I think your conversation with me today is also related to this, right?"

Lann nodded. "Originally, if it was confirmed that I had the ability to learn magic from you, the next conversation would not be necessary, but since it is impossible to become a mage, then..."

Lann took out a notebook from his arms, which contained the secrets of the witcher that he had tortured from the mouth of the witcher Jad.

"I really need your help with this."

Mousesack took the notebook, opened it and looked at it twice. The smile that had been on his face finally disappeared. After quickly flipping through two pages, he raised his head and glanced at Lann in confusion, and then flipped through two more pages.

Lann was quite sure that the contents of the notebook about the Witcher Trials would pique the druid's interest. The existence of the witcher is unique in this world.

Perhaps the power of the witcher is far less powerful than the traditional mages in this world, but it is the only way to allow ordinary people to obtain extraordinary powers from scratch, and even allow ordinary people without magic talents to obtain simple Spellcasting ability.

For every mage with the investigator attribute, the content of the Witcher Trials is too attractive.

The druid looked up, seemingly amazed by the knowledge recorded in the notebook: "Where did you get this notebook from?"

"Some time ago, a witcher organized a group of bandits and was annihilated by me. These are the things I tortured out of the witcher's mouth." Lann replied. "And what I want to ask you to do for me is... You Can you try to improve the content of this Witcher Trial and increase his success rate?"

Mousesack thought for a moment and shook his head. "Do you want to train witcher soldiers? Unfortunately, this is impossible. The witcher was created by Cosimo Malaspina and Alzur. You may have difficulty understanding what these two names mean to mages."

"The fact is that even after all these years, there has never been another successful human body modification result that can be promoted, let alone such a successful result as the Witcher. I don't think I have that ability."

"And even if you just try this project, you are bound to go through a lot of cruel human experiments, which is inconsistent with the philosophy of my Druid sect. I won't do that."

Lann nodded. It was clearly unrealistic for a druid who practiced the natural path to optimize the biological projects of two legendary magicians in less than a year.

"Then..." Lann said after considering it. "Is it possible to improve the success rate of this trial for a specific target? Let's say that target would be me, do you think it is possible?"

Mousesack stood up suddenly and yelled at Lan: "How could you have such a dangerous idea?!"

The druid was circling in circles angrily, scolding his little lion angrily: "The witcher may have some power beyond ordinary people, but the price is too high. The Witcher Trials have a high mortality rate and there will be many sequels that turn them into monsters in the eyes of the world. The most important thing is that they are sterile. Lann, barren, do you want the Lannister to become extinct?"

“Lann, do you really know the Witcher?”

'I know it better than anyone in the world.' But Lann definitely couldn't say that now, so he shook his head.

The druid sat down again and rubbed his brows with some annoyance. "Let me talk to you carefully, lest you be misled by those poetry biographies. I also have some witchers friends, so I'm very familiar with their stories. You know a little history. Do you remember the 'Conjunction of the Spheres' I showed you earlier."

Lan nodded and responded affirmatively: "During the cataclysm more than 1,500 years ago, worlds in different dimensions collided and infiltrated with each other. As a result, many creatures from other worlds remained in our world. It is said that the elves said that humans also appeared when the Conjunction of the Spheres."

"This cannot be discussed clearly with the elves. Humans also say that the elves came from the Conjunction of the Spheres." Mousesack shook his head. "Back to the topic. The creator of the witcher is called Alzur. The era in which Alzur lived was even more chaotic than now. He is a genius, but he is also deviant. Alzur may indeed have the belief in saving the world, but his 'save' always ignores casualties, and sometimes leads to more tragic consequences."

"The witcher was created by Alzur under such circumstances. In order to save mankind from the threat of monsters, Alzur, as the leader, led the Council of Mages to initiate research on human transformation. It started with the transformation of adults, but after countless sacrifices, the experiment still made no progress, so Alzur turned his attention to children, believing that children were more malleable."

"Children were used as consumables for experiments, resulting in countless sacrifices. Finally, the first witcher in history appeared, but this witcher was abandoned because he did not obtain the spellcasting talent as planned by the Council of Mages. Alzur took him in because he found that the witcher had indeed gained many powers that mortals did not possess."

"I can tell you Lann that witchers do have superhuman strength, immunity, night vision, and longevity. The longest living witcher I know of has lived for hundreds of years. Alzur has also customized simple spell abilities for witchers. Maybe they have other magical abilities that I don't know about."

"But Lann, these magical abilities are not enough for you to pay so much. You have a brighter future. The side effects of the Witcher Trials are enormous. Even if you successfully survive it, it may be accompanied by horrific disfigurement, a crazy personality, and most importantly, infertility!"

"Society also has huge prejudice against witchers. Maybe the chivalry taught by Alzur to the witchers did have an impact on them at the beginning. The mainland also had a period of peace because of the witchers' chivalry and righteousness. They did save civilians. But then Alzur himself abandoned his original ideals due to his ambition. In the end, the witchers just injected another chaotic force into the mainland, and now they have almost disappeared."

"I have had so many witcher friends, and some of them are noble people. But just because I know them, I don't want you to be them." Mousesack stared at Lann seriously. "I'm glad that we are having a conversation like today allows me to understand your thoughts in time. Now, Lann, my little lion, tell me."

“Why do you want to be a witcher?”
