The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact

Chapter 6: The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [6]

Perhaps it was because they were close to Mondstadt, but the night passed peacefully without any Hilichurl attacks.

By morning, Lynn had already woken up.

Under Jia Changjiang's astonished gaze, she disappeared for ten minutes and returned with an armful of freshly gathered ingredients. Then, with practiced efficiency, she cleaned, prepared, and started cooking them.

Not long after, Jia Changjiang found himself eating breakfast again, albeit with some confusion.

After the meal, Jia Changjiang bid farewell to Lynn, slung his massive battle axe over his shoulder, and resumed his journey toward Mondstadt.

Looking at the distance, he figured he'd reach the city in no time.

Or so he thought.

Suddenly, the previously clear skies turned dark, thick clouds swirling together to form a massive vortex—a colossal wind eye directly above Mondstadt.

"What's going on…?"

Jia Changjiang squinted upward, trying to make sense of the phenomenon, when a powerful gust of wind slammed into him from behind.

The force nearly knocked him over, and he had to grip his battle axe tightly to remain standing.

A massive shadow swept over him.

Raising his head, Jia Changjiang froze in shock.

Above him soared a massive, cyan dragon, its multiple wings stirring the air into chaos.

The gale that nearly toppled him had come from the dragon's enormous wings as it passed overhead.

"A dragon… Is that Stormterror?"

Jia Changjiang recognized the creature.

As a Genshin player, he hadn't paid much attention to the storylines or cutscenes.

But certain iconic moments and major bosses? Those stuck with him.

The wind eye forming above Mondstadt was undoubtedly Stormterror's doing.

The dragon vanished into the clouds, and moments later, the wind eye transformed into a violent tornado hurtling toward the city.

That enormous body…

That agile, destructive presence…

Its raw strength and terrifying power…

Something about it thrilled Jia Changjiang to his core.

As Stormterror flew past him, heading straight for Mondstadt, Jia Changjiang realized his grip on the axe had tightened.

Strangely, beyond the initial shock, he felt neither fear nor panic.

Instead, he felt... excitement.

A bold thought emerged in his mind.

Take down that dragon.

Defeat it.

Bring that hurricane-wielding behemoth crashing to the ground and beat it into submission with his own two hands.

Fueled by this desire, Jia Changjiang quickened his pace toward the city.

[Strong intent detected. Generating task...]

[Task Objective: Defeat Stormterror Dvalin.]

[Reward: Calculated post-completion.]

"A task…? Even a quest popped up for this?"

Jia Changjiang stared at the rampaging dragon above, feeling an intense longing.

But… he wasn't ready yet.

He had to admit it: his current strength wasn't enough to take down that dragon.

The realization was frustrating.

If he wanted to achieve his goal, he needed to become stronger.

And so, Jia Changjiang made a decision:

He would grow stronger. Then, he would fight Stormterror.

And after that… find more powerful opponents to challenge in Teyvat.

His mind raced with a single thought: Fight! Fight! Fight!

The anticipation of battle, even amidst such devastation, filled him with a strange kind of joy.

"Stormterror! Just you wait!"

Jia Changjiang raised his battle axe and shouted toward the dragon ravaging the skies above Mondstadt.

"When I'm strong enough… I'll take you down!!!"

"I mean it!!!"

His voice was quickly swallowed by the howling wind.

The destructive storm that assaulted Mondstadt was eventually dissipated by some unknown force. While the damage was substantial, it thankfully resulted in no major casualties.

Frustrated, Stormterror roared furiously at the towering statue of Barbatos in the city's center before flapping its massive wings and retreating toward the ruins of the Stormterror's Lair.

Elsewhere in Mondstadt, a soft melody echoed through an alleyway, incongruously peaceful amidst the chaos.

"Dvalin…"

The music stopped, and a green-clad figure let out a sigh.

As the wind shifted gently through the alley, the figure paused, murmuring to themselves.

"A traveler… claiming they'll take down Dvalin?"

"Yet… there's no malice in their intent. Only a desire to overcome him?"

"What an intriguing traveler…"

---

"Hello there, little one."

Crossing the bridge outside Mondstadt's gates, Jia Changjiang greeted a young boy feeding pigeons.

"Huh? Oh, hello…"

Timidly, the boy—Timmy—looked up at the battle axe resting on Jia Changjiang's shoulder. His eyes widened in fear, and his pigeons scattered into the air.

"Ah, sorry about scaring your pigeons."

Jia Changjiang apologized, watching the birds circle above.

"It's okay," Timmy replied nervously. "I was just feeding them…"

Though Jia Changjiang's demeanor seemed polite, Timmy couldn't shake the unsettling feeling that this man was somehow dangerous.

Especially the way he looked at the pigeons—it was… odd.

Shivering, Timmy ran off, leaving Jia Changjiang puzzled.

"Was it something I said?"

Shrugging it off, Jia Changjiang resumed his march toward Mondstadt's gates.

At the entrance, he was stopped by a pair of stern-faced knights.

The Knights of Favonius saluted him politely.

"Welcome to Mondstadt, traveler. Please state your name and purpose. The Knights of Favonius are here to ensure your safety."

Faced with their formal demeanor, Jia Changjiang shelved his dragon-defying bravado and responded courteously.

"Greetings. I'm a traveler from afar and have just arrived in Mondstadt. Should I report to the Knights of Favonius headquarters to register my identity?"
