Chapter 34: The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [34]
"Thank you, Amber!"
Lumine wiped the grease from her lips after devouring another steak, then gave Amber a warm hug.
"It's no big deal. This is all part of an Outrider Knight's duties," Amber said, blushing slightly from the sudden show of affection.
As Lumine turned her attention to chatting with Amber, Jia Changjiang let his thoughts drift, deciding to take a closer look at his system.
With ten pulls finally saved up, he couldn't help but recall his last attempt at gacha. His first-ever single pull had yielded a five-star mop—completely useless.
It hadn't even been as effective as his beginner's great axe.
Now, with a ten-pull ready, surely something worthwhile would come out this time, right?
Opening the system, Jia Changjiang immediately noticed two oddities.
First, the banner had changed.
When he first arrived in Mondstadt, the active banner was "Jackie Chan's Everything-Mart!"
But now… the banner was titled "Steve's Toolbox."
"Steve? As in the block-building guy? Does he even count as a Weapon Master?" Jia Changjiang frowned in thought.
After considering it, though, he had to admit Steve was resourceful. Not only could he use conventional weapons, but even furniture could become deadly in his hands. He'd even heard tales of Steve defeating enemies with nothing but an apple.
The second strange thing in the system was the task reward notification.
Finally, Jia Changjiang could see the message that had appeared while he was unconscious.
[Task Reward: Partial Completion.][Special Weapon Access: 12 Hours.]
[Warning! This weapon is extremely dangerous. Use with caution! Repeated: Use with caution!]
"A special weapon?" Jia Changjiang rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
The system didn't specify a name, only emphasizing the extreme danger. On the task settlement screen, there was an icon depicting a dark void with a faint, sinister red glow emanating from within.
"What kind of weapon is this…?"
"Jia Changjiang, what are you thinking about?"
Paimon's voice snapped him out of his reverie.
He smiled kindly at her. "Oh, nothing. Just a minor thought."
"Even though you're kind of strange during battles, you seem like a really nice person otherwise!" Paimon remarked cheerfully.
"It'd be even better if you didn't call me strange," he joked.
Amber didn't stay long, as she had other duties to attend to. However, Lumine seemed reluctant to let her go, clinging to her tightly until the very last moment.
Once Amber had left, Jia Changjiang turned to Lumine and suggested, "After we're done here, let's go find Venti. That bard knows a lot; he might have answers to some of your questions."
"Fine… but are you sure I can't just capture that green guy for a bounty?" Lumine asked, still clinging to her idea.
"Even if you caught him, there's no bounty on Venti. He's just a wine-loving bard right now," Jia Changjiang said knowingly. "Still, he's bound to have some skill. One day, I'll make sure to fight him."
His eyes gleamed with excitement as he spoke, his enthusiasm for battle shining through.
"Ugh… whenever it's about fighting, Jia Changjiang's face completely changes," Paimon whispered to Lumine, who paid no mind as she remained focused on finishing her steak.
When Lumine finally leaned back, satisfied, the plates around her were stacked impressively high.
"That green guy's voice sounds so familiar," Lumine muttered, her memory apparently improving with a full stomach. "Where have I heard it before…?"
"You'll have to ask him yourself," Jia Changjiang replied with a shrug. "Alright, let's head to the 'Symbol of Mondstadt's Hero.'"

On the way to Windrise, Lumine followed behind Jia Changjiang, a look of suspicion growing on her face.
She realized something odd—Jia Changjiang had met Lynn before she arrived in Mondstadt. But how did he know about her?
Suspicious… just as suspicious as that green guy.
Lumine considered taking advantage of Jia Changjiang's injured state to tie him up and interrogate him.
Oblivious to her scheming, Jia Changjiang led the way eastward. Soon, they arrived at Windrise, standing before the massive tree symbolizing Vanessa's legacy.
From a distance, they could already see Venti's figure beneath the tree.
"You really came," Venti said with a grin. "I thought you wouldn't be interested in this at all."
"We're here because we want to know more about the Anemo Archon!" Paimon declared, flying up to him. "Jia Changjiang said you know a lot, so we came to find you."
"Oh? Barbatos, you say?" Venti replied, feigning surprise. "That guy disappeared from Mondstadt ages ago. Sure, seven gods rule over seven nations, but Mondstadt hasn't seen its Archon in a long time."
"Well, you three can chat about Barbatos and Stormterror. I'm skipping this part," Jia Changjiang announced, sitting under the nearby Statue of The Seven. Who even pays attention to lore in games anyway?
"Eh? Jia Changjiang, you're not interested in hearing about the Anemo Archon?" Venti asked, tilting his head.
"Not unless Barbatos himself wants to fight me," Jia Changjiang said bluntly. "But if you've got any plans involving Stormterror, count me in. I still want another round with him."
He sat down and opened his system, eager to finally use his ten-pull.
"Jackie Chan's banner gave me a mop. What will Steve's banner offer?"
He tossed all his coins into the gacha pool, watching as the previously calm waters began to churn with energy. Lights of white, green, blue, and purple mingled as the draw began.
"Wait… this banner has white-tier items?!" Jia Changjiang's frustration grew as he spotted the lackluster color.
At least there was a purple glimmer…
[You have obtained the following items:]
Wooden Pickaxe (1-Star) x3
Fishing Rod (3-Star) x1
Stone Axe (2-Star) x1
Iron Hoe (3-Star) x1
Wooden Sword (1-Star) x1
Stone Shovel (2-Star) x2
Damaged Block (4-Star) x1
"…Huh?"
Jia Changjiang stared at his inventory, his mind blank.
Did he just… pull Steve's entire toolbox?
