The Weakest to Strongest

Chapter : Prologue

Ruya Samsory always had this thought

Am I a failure? or I just reached the limit of myself and can't improve no matter what i do?

The man who is brighter than anyone reached his limit at the age of twenty-five.

He always had a belief in his mind when he was young, that belief is to become stronger than anyone else. He has more ambitious goals and grand dreams than anyone else, yet his potential failed him and can't achieve his dream of being the strongest in the world.

When he first held the sword as the child of Samsory Family, he shine bright making the people surprised when he pick the sword of Larent, twin sword of the sword of Xelubir the symbol of the Samsory family.

However, Ruya had no talent and lacked potential.

For generations, members of the Samsory family became rank-7 knight by the age of 16. In the long history of the family that exceeded 500 years, there was not a child that reached rank-7 knight before turning to 17.

An average Samsory would become rank-5 knight at the age of twenty, and would later travel the world after becoming rank 3 knight before turning 25.

But Ruya was 29 by the time he reached rank-5 knight.

Even a commoner with no talent at all could accomplish it as long as they put in a lot of effort and hardwork.

Samsory family saw Ruya's effort and hardwork, and his siblings banished him from the family without killing him.

'But it wasn't that I had no talent, it wasn't that at all…'

After leaving his family, Ruya was surprised at what his talent lay within a field other than sword.

Magic.

Ruya was highly talented in magic enough to be called a Once-in-Thousand year genius.

While he was travelling around aimlessly, he accidentally bumped into a grand magician and became magician's disciple, within 5 years of training, the God of Swords & Magic offered him a contract.

He was on a solid path, becoming the grand magician of his era. The God of Swords & Magic 'Ruther' was a being that all swordsmen and magicians yearned for.

Furthermore, Ruya learned that he was also gifted with the sword from Ruther.

[Contractor, it seems that someone had a grudge against you since you were just a child. You aren't able to grow with the sword due to a trivial curse. That might've been the reason why you caught my attention and can't avoid being captivated by you.]

'Trivial'

That was how Ruther described the curse that had been placed on Ruya to suppress his talents. A 9-Circle Magician was the cause of the curse in question, and the curse name is called 'Talentless Seal'

Needless to say, Ruya was completely unaware that he had been cursed until Ruther informed him.

Ruther easily dispelled the curse without breaking a sweat that had been tormenting Ruya. The black-red chains hidden inside Ruya's body were slashed by Ruther.

[You can now become an unparalleled magic swordsman, Contractor. I'll be watching over you with excitement.]

Following Ruther's words, Ruya picked up the sword he had thrown away since the day he was banished from the family. With every swing, he was reaching a new height of mystery. The greatest failure of the Samsory Family, Ruya Samsory, was no more.

Ruther's words were true.

On one hand, magic.

On the other hand, a sword.

Within 5 years, he would become so powerful enough to overwhelm his family, the family that had cast him away. All that was left to do was to become history's strongest magic swordsman and rule the world.

'Seems like I truly am destined for failure.'

Cough!

Ruya spat out a mouthful of blood. He was bleeding everywhere, including his eyes, nose, and ears.

Death was waiting over him.

He hadn't even had a chance to wield his new power came from Ruther.

Three rank-1 knights had attacked the Kitayan Kingdom within half a day. And since three of them had raided the capital city, there was absolutely nothing Ruya could've done.

He couldn't even react because he had just finished training and had fallen asleep from exhaustion.

What a ridiculous death he had. He just wanted to cry out full of madness due to absurdity, but all that had escaped his blood-filled mouth was maniacal laughter.

He was on death's door, and nobody was by his side.

Not his teacher who taught and cared for him, not his siblings and family that cast him aside, not a single person.

Even Ruther had shown no response.

'Why… Why did the heavens bother giving me an opportunity to grow yet just to take it away immediately.'

And so, Ruya Samsory accepted his fate and closed his eyes.

While he held no lingering feelings, it was just that he had many regrets in his life.
