The Watcher of the Dimensions

" Marcus, are you alright? What about Kim?"

Al looked at Marcus's wound while trying to find the silhouettes of his comrades but none of them were in line of his vision, signaling they had met their worst end here.

He bit his lips until blood dripped from it, knowing this was a funeral hall for them. There was no exit or entry in this God-abandoned maze, trapping them here like a sacrificial lamb. Perhaps, they should have left this to the superhumans because even with their modern weapons, these creatures were too fast.

" That creature latched itself on Kim's face. I don't know what he did to him but I believe it isn't a good thing."

Marcus witnessed the horrors of these creatures, imagining the worst possible result for them since they didn't kill them. Instead, they left Kim there like they didn't even meet him which was suspicious to his eyes.

Besides, he thought leaving Kim was too dangerous, so he left him in a safe place. Even if he died there, he wouldn't cause harm to them due to their distance. However, there was another problem he met on his way here.

" Have you scanned the area with thermal radar?"

Al nodded with a solemn face while pulling out a portable screen from his pocket as they saw the large creature moving in the near vicinity.

" Damn, it is close to us. We can't make it to the entry at this rate."

Just as they were about to get up, a cold gun barrel peeked out from the corner while pointing toward their heads.

It was Deadlock who was wearing her tactical camouflage uniform. She was traveling with Lincoln who was watching their flank with Caitlyn on their rear.

" We found the missing personnel. Requesting for a backup."

Deadlock cut her radio, checking whether they were alright by her scanner which she got from the headquarters.

It would scan every anomaly in their bodies with 99.9 percent confidence. Furthermore, they were the creation of SPC where anomalies were many as night stars. Thus, it was a highly safe and verified tool in their arsenal.

" No anomaly detected. I suggest we need more medical attention in Eden."

The deadlock didn't wait to hear their words before making a decision on the situation because time was running out.

" Calm down, Deadlock. Where are your other teammates?"

Lincoln crouched down with a bottle of water in his hand, thinking they must be exhausted but before he could say more, Marcus cut his words with urgency.

" We have to get out quickly. That thing is closing on us."

Deadlock narrowed her eyes at his words while signaling drones to survey the area and surely enough, they detected movement almost instantly.

" Deadlock, I will watch your back. Lincoln, help them to move."

Caitlyn pulled out her rifle while observing the area with her keen eyes. Her sharp senses as a sniper could spot creatures from miles away.

" 3 o'clock on the right side."

Deadlock didn't question her aim as she pulled her gun and shot in the direction with rapid burst fire as they heard the screech of a monster in the cavern.

Roar*

The jet-black monster came out from the darkness, spitting out green blood from its body as it melted the ice away under their gazes.

" Acidic type blood. Don't get too close to it."

Deadlock pulled out a grenade-like thing from her pocket, throwing it to the creature as she gestured for them to fall back because their goal wasn't capture. It was a rescue mission, so saving hostages was the most important thing to do.

Roar*

The neon blue net caught the creature in it, hindering it from moving as Deadlock and Caitlyn finished it in no time but they didn't have time to be happy. There might be more of this creature, hence, they had to escape quickly before things got out of hand.

" Watch out!"

A lightning flashed before Deadlock's face when Lincoln fried the face hugger with his electricity. Then he pulled out his pistol and shot it until he confirmed it was dead.

" Thanks. Are you alright?"

Marcus and Al were speechless when they saw their teamwork, considering how efficient they were.
