Training Session
With Cael nearly 18 now, he could start learning how to operate his own aircar. Aircars were very efficient methods of getting around the place. These vehicles never contacted the road physically and with that, its acceleration and deceleration were very seamless.
He was used to going on an airbus to save his money, but there was no need for him to do so now. A single payment of about ten thousand dollars along with insurance could give him a nice aircar to rely on, which could get him around the planet rather easily.
Aircars had top speeds of around 40 to 60 miles per hour in dense urban areas, but the large highways of Saevis could have top speeds far higher than even that.
This was a worry for the future, though. There would always be time for him to do something so trivial like that, since learning how to operate one was now extremely easy for humans; it only took a few lessons to master their use now.
The following day, Cael’s day flew by rather quickly and now, he needed to create the right weapons that he could use in this vault event of his.
First off, he wanted to fully create the creator’s special energy shield. He could then incorporate that into his virtual golden exosuit – the WM Hercules.
He was swiftly working on that and entered the component constructor mode of the TechForge Simulation Lab. With a user interface very similar to the standard assembly area, there were just different micro-components used here.
Cael was not adept at creating these items and so, he had to use the creator’s directions to almost dictate his actions. It wasn’t so great to begin with as some of his methods of describing actions were incredibly verbose and unnecessary.
His use of unnecessarily complex vocabulary forced him to use his brainpower to discern what he was saying, but he still managed to get there in the end.
Forming a single component really didn’t take that long since it was quite a small item. His skill with using internals also made the process a little bit smoother.
Along with that, Cael had to spend the remaining bit of his time to design his new item; the electric baton. Using the same foundation as the energy shield, there was a silver plate that he was going to rely on to power this item.
He added several wires that would connect the weapon straight to the energy supply of the exosuit. Along with that, he placed a single cylindrical mana core within it that was made to be quite light so that there would be at least some local power to rely on.
Here, he modelled the baton after another basic baton exterior that he had seen on the internet and managed to form his very own weapon rather quickly as well.
Looking at the holograms of the two items, he felt ready to go. It was late evening this time, and it was just early enough so that he could return home instead of having to remain in his own workshop.
The next day, he headed to the vault rooms after school was over to find his four training partners sat there.
“You’re on time. Great.” Vanessa stated, before sitting further back in her own vault seat.
“I’m literally five minutes early.” Cael thought to himself upon hearing this remark.
It was clear this group were excited about their trip to Zarcona.
“We’re gonna do some 5v5 and Hunter Mode, alright?” Vanessa stated, fastening herself in the seat.
Cael felt a little surprised that she was the only person willing to reply to and talk to him. He was expecting either all of them to tolerate him, or for none of them to. However, there was a single spokesperson to incorporate him into this little group.
Cael slipped right into his own vault, and the members entered a party together. The first mode that they were going to take part in was referred to as Hunter Mode. There would be a large, powerful animal-based attack bot that the five warriors would be forced to combat together.
“What weapons do you have?” Vanessa asked, stretching in her own black exosuit.
Cael was clad in his own dark golden exosuit, with his black baton and a silver plate of metal across his left forearm. This was going to be where his shield would be projected from.
“I have an energy shield and a baton. It’s electric so I can shock things when I strike with it.” Cael explained.
“An energy shield?” Vanessa then asked, also receiving eyes from the likes of Keagan and Friso.
Blaine was too unbothered about the likes of Cael and was too arrogant to even act like the conversation was taking place.
“Yeah, it’s quite energy efficient. It still gets the job done though.” Cael explained, while swinging his baton around in his hand.
With the wiring, it wasn’t always connected up to his exosuit. Instead of using the super-heated swords with his Slasher attack bot from all that time ago, he added magnetic attractors on both his hand and the baton. Whenever he wanted to connect the wires up, he could activate the magnets on his palm to attract the wires which facilitated the connecting between his own exosuit and the baton.
“I’m tired of waiting, let’s fight already. I’ll be at the front along with Keagan. The rest of you can talk amongst yourselves as to how you fight.” Blaine stated, without even glancing back at the other warriors.
These fighters sighed and looked annoyed at Blaine’s arrogance, but Cael was indifferent to it now. There was hatred for the way he acted, but he knew that there was no need for him to be affected by his actions. Only he would be losing in that situation.
The five warriors were thrown right into the hunter mode, standing next to each other in a flat grassland.
There were a few sparse trees in the distance, along with a wide, awe-striking mountain range that looked to be several miles into the sky.
There was a bright blue sky that illuminated the area, and Blaine slammed together his large, powered gauntlets. Along with this, he possessed a gigantic shoulder-mounted rifle that Cael was sure was within the yellow-green light ranges for power.
Vanessa equipped herself with two daggers, two wrist-mounted rifles and Friso resorted to quite the unorthodox weapon. A large double-headed axe with super-heated tips to the blade.
As for Keagan, he resorted to his usual large, powered gauntlets, and nothing else. Cael, judging from their size and the noise from them as he moved his arms, these were extremely powerful blasts.
After Cael analysed the weapons of those that stood beside him, a massive autonomous bot appeared in front of them. As for these modes, a lot of these bots just weren’t possible in the real world.
The power demand of a 5-tonne attack bot was just too high to make the thing feasible. Bots close to that level were found in the form of juggernauts, but those things could barely even move around. It took seconds for them to rotate and were usually equipped with unnecessary amounts of firepower to obliterate their opponents with superior destruction and brute strength.
It resembled a gorilla with its large arms, and stood at about 8 feet tall, with mammoth arms that were each bigger than two humans put together.
Above them was a countdown that steadily reached zero.
The gorilla beat its chest like a feral beast, and vehemently roared at the five warriors. Friso relayed this sentiment and shouted as he rushed forward.
He heaved up his axe and swung down with as much ferocity as he could, just about missing the gorilla’s body. He continued with a sequence of wild swings but none of them could properly connect on the beast.
Even though it was so large, it was just as quick and agile as them. Blaine rushed straight past Friso and landed two energy blasts from his large shoulder-mounted rifle. He positioned himself almost in front of Friso so that once he started battling, he was almost out of action.
Amplifying his punch with the power of his glowing powered gauntlet, his fist shot toward his target only to land on its fortified arm. It lifted its arms like a human would and was strong enough to handle its own weight even with its shorter legs.
Blaine followed up with a sequence of punches that almost left the others stunned. Each one was incredibly powerful and sounded like a gunshot as it landed. The power of this man was unbelievable for his size, but the remaining fighters simply took this as the perfect chance to show off their skills too.
This gorilla beast wasn’t going to just take attacks like this and not throw back. Swinging its gigantic arm outward, Blaine was caught by it and sent flying back even though he’d blocked. The sheer amount of momentum behind that swing was just too much for him to resist.
