Chapter 7: Chapter 7: The Attack on Valdoria
The Dungeon Break:A week after reaching Rank B, Rafa heard rumors at the guild about a "dungeon break" near Valdoria. Dungeons were magical places that held dangerous creatures and invaluable treasures, but they could also "break," releasing their threats into the outside world. This time, the broken dungeon was known as "The Crypt of a Thousand Nightmares," a notorious place for housing magical beasts of Rank B and above. The city guards were mobilizing all available adventurers to contain the horde emerging from the nearby ruins."Another opportunity to test my limits," Rafa thought as he prepared to join the city's defense.
The Start of the Conflict:When the horde arrived, Valdoria was engulfed in chaos. Magical beasts of all kinds—shadow wolves, enraged minotaurs, and thunderbirds—flooded the streets, attacking civilians and destroying buildings. The guild's adventurers led the resistance, but they were outnumbered and quickly began to be overwhelmed.Rafa observed everything from a rooftop, analyzing the situation calmly. He decided to act as support initially, using his Visionary ability to create protective barriers and traps that slowed the creatures' advance.
Battle Vision (Third Person):While the adventurers fought hand-to-hand with the beasts, Rafa envisioned stone walls that blocked the streets, forcing the creatures to split into smaller groups. He also created invisible nets that trapped some of the faster beasts, allowing the guards to eliminate them more easily."He's incredible," murmured a young adventurer, watching the barriers appear out of nowhere. "I've never seen anyone do that before."Despite his efficiency, Rafa avoided direct combat, preferring to remain in the shadows. He knew his Visionary ability was virtually limitless, but he also understood that using it too openly would draw too much attention.
The Arrival of the Lich:Just as it seemed the situation was under control, something even more terrifying happened. Emerging from the dungeon ruins was a Lich, a Rank A creature commanding the horde. Its presence was overwhelming, surrounded by an aura of darkness that swallowed the light around it. Its eyes burned with a cold blue flame, and its voice echoed like thunder as it ordered the beasts to advance."You are insects," said the Lich, raising its skeletal hand. With a gesture, it conjured a storm of black lightning that devastated an entire row of guards. The remaining adventurers hesitated, paralyzed by fear.Rafa realized that if no one confronted the Lich, Valdoria would be destroyed. He took a deep breath and descended from the rooftop, walking calmly toward the battlefield.
The Final Confrontation (Third Person):The Lich noticed Rafa immediately. "Ah, the Architect," it said, recognizing the man who had caused so many problems for its creatures. "Do you think you can defeat me? Your little illusions are no match for my power."Rafa did not respond. He simply closed his eyes, focusing. When he opened them again, a gigantic figure made of pure light appeared beside him. It was an enlarged version of himself, shining like a beacon. The figure advanced against the Lich, launching beams of energy that lit up the night. The Lich roared in frustration, summoning an army of skeletons to face the light creature. But Rafa had already envisioned a rain of flaming meteors that fell upon the skeletons, reducing them to dust. The battle between the Lich and the light creature lasted minutes that felt like hours. Finally, Rafa envisioned a celestial sword that pierced the Lich's chest, dissipating its physical form. The Lich screamed in pain before disappearing completely, leaving behind only silence.
Recognition and Suspicion:After the Lich's defeat, the adventurers and residents of Valdoria celebrated Rafa as a hero. Many began to speculate that he possessed Rank S abilities, given the magnitude of his feats. However, others remained skeptical, arguing that he had used tricks or forbidden magic to defeat the Lich."He's powerful, yes," said a guild veteran. "But Rank S? That's impossible for someone so young."Rafa ignored the comments, returning to his modern home without giving explanations. He knew his Visionary ability was far more powerful than any rank could measure, but he also understood that revealing this would be dangerous.
Reflection on the Future:Back in his living room, Rafa gazed at the horizon through the glass window. He realized that his fame was growing rapidly and that his name was already beginning to be known in other regions of the continent."This is just the beginning," he thought. "If I can face a Lich, what else am I capable of?"An undefined ambition continued to grow within him, fueled by his victories and the absolute power of his ability. He knew there were still greater challenges ahead, but he was ready to face them.
