Chapter 17: Chapter 17: A gigantic cliff
The next morning, Lucifer woke up in tiredness. To be more precise, he hadn't slept at all because of the pain that had tormented him all night. Even so, he had to keep going forward.
Lucifer jumped off the tree that he had used last night and used Shadow Movement immediately to keep moving. Even though he had proceeded for quite a while, he still couldn't escape from this jungle.
'I have to keep going...'
He decided to leave the deer's corpse behind because he couldn't carry it with him. That would slow down Lucifer's speed. Moreover, he didn't have a fire to roast the meat.
Although he felt regretful, Lucifer had no other choice.

The stomachache from last night was gradually disappearing. Thanks to that, Lucifer could now move more comfortably. He didn't feel hungry at all, so he decided not to eat the last protein bar today.
Since it was morning, Lucifer didn't encounter any low-level monsters wandering around the forest. Therefore, he didn't need to worry too much about them.
It was already noon, and Lucifer hadn't stopped to rest since he started his journey again in the morning. He didn't feel tired because moving through the shadows didn't consume Lucifer's stamina.
'This Ability is better than I thought!'
Lucifer once again exclaimed at Shadow Movement's convenience and usefulness.
Suddenly, Lucifer saw light ahead. It was very clear because it wasn't blocked by trees. Lucifer thought he had found a way out, but he wasn't.
After rushing towards where the light was clearly coming from, Lucifer was completely blocked by a majestic cliff. There was no way out, only a magnificent cliff blocking his path.
Lucifer stared at both sides, realizing that this cliff seemed to stretch to the horizon without any end. Lucifer tried to glance further, but all he could see was that cliff.
Because of that, Lucifer had no other options but to run along this gigantic cliff to find its end.
***
He had been sprinting for more than 30 minutes, but he still couldn't find the end of the cliff. On the contrary, Lucifer was completely exhausted from sprinting at full speed. Since the weather was really hot and the sunlight was too bright, Lucifer even felt a slight headache.
'I must have sunstroke.'
He instantly returned to the woods to rest. After 10 minutes of relaxing in the shade created by a lot of trees, Lucifer had become a little better.
If Lucifer's calculations were correct, this rocky mountain would be much further, and finding its end would take a lot of Lucifer's time. Therefore, he had no choice but to wait until night to use Shadow Movement to climb to the top of the cliff.
'But the time to use Shadow Movement is 10 minutes. And this cliff will definitely take a longer time to conquer.'
Lucifer observed the cliff carefully, he noticed that it had a few protruding parts. Lucifer could cling to it while waiting for Shadow Movement to cool down.
He had had a plan in mind, now all Lucifer needed to do was wait until nightfall.
***
He had spent the afternoon sitting on a tree in case he encountered a wild animal or even a monster. Currently, the sun was already fading in the horizon and the moon was gradually going up.
Lucifer had never looked forward to the night to come this much.
After a while, the sunlight had completely vanished in the forest and the entire surrounding area was covered in a mysterious darkness. Without delay, Lucifer leaped down from the tree.
'Hmm?'
The ground he landed on felt softer and warmer than normal for some reasons. Instantly, the ground rose and fell evenly.
'Oh shit…'
Lucifer trembled, slowly moving his eyes down to his feet. There, he was standing on a huge bear. Lucifer unconsciously stepped back, which caused the bear to wake up right away.
The bear stood up, causing Lucifer to fall straight to the ground. This bear must be at least 5 times larger than Lucifer. Lucifer immediately understood that if it hit him once, he would be finished.
A series of scenarios raced through Lucifer's mind.
Normally, if he encountered a bear, running was not a good idea because the bear had an incredible speed. If he played dead, Lucifer would definitely be eaten by the bear. Fighting it with this skinny body was even stupider.
In the end, while the bear was still glaring at Lucifer and hadn't made a move yet, he decided to use Shadow Movement to run towards the cliff.
However, Lucifer had forgotten that he could still be attacked while merging with the shadow.
Seeing Lucifer merged with the darkness, the bear immediately raised its hand and struck down. Its strike hit Lucifer, causing his body to almost shatter.
'Luckily it didn't use all its power.'
Immediately after that, Lucifer dashed towards the cliff as fast as he could so that he could climb up. Right behind him, the bear was still chasing after him.
Even if he was using Shadow Movement, his scent wouldn't disappear. Taking advantage of that, everything the bear needed to do was just simply following his scent.
As said, the bear was an animal that had an incredible speed. Thus, it only took a few seconds for it to catch up to Lucifer. Even though it had caught up, it couldn't see him anywhere, so it just smashed randomly on the ground.
A series of powerful smashes were directed at Lucifer like a storm. Perhaps that was the end for him.
'Damn it! I don't want to die!'
Suddenly, he recognized that the smashes that were coming towards him slowed down a lot, or maybe it was because he was thinking at an even more terrifying speed. There was no doubt about it, it was definitely Adrenalin.
Normally, Adrenalin would be secreted more if a person was near death. It might seem useless, but no, Adrenalin would enhance everything in the body while it was being emitted.
Thanks to it, the bear's attacks became much slower while Lucifer's speed was accelerating. He easily dodged the smashes and accelerated towards the vertical cliff.
Once he started climbing, Lucifer would not be able to go back anymore. If he get down while climbing, the bear down there would certainly kill him in the most horrifying way possible. This would be his first and last chance.
Lucifer had to handle the current situation well if he still wanted to live. Just like that, Lucifer started climbing the cliff. If he failed, he would die.
