chapter 18

“Here we have the student dormitories,” Shi Li said. “To the left are the boys’ dorms, and to the right, the girls’. Do you have any questions?”
No sooner had Shi Li finished speaking than Mia raised her little hand.
“Go ahead,” said Shi Li.
“Is there a room where two boys and a girl can stay together?”
“Uh?” Shi Li wondered inwardly.
“Are they so close as siblings that they live in the same room?”
Seeing Shi Lei lost in thought and not speaking, Mia anxiously said,
“Speak up, do you or don’t you?”
Gu Ming hurriedly stepped forward to cover her mouth,
“I’m sorry, just ignore what she just said.”
Shi Lei smiled at this,
“You two have a really good sibling relationship. Actually, our academy does have such separate small western-style buildings, but they are off-campus and you need to buy them yourselves. If you really need it, I can take you to apply.”
Mia quickly pushed Gu Ming’s hand away and said,
“Yes yes, let’s go apply right away… um…”
Gu Ming’s heart tightened and he quickly covered her mouth again saying,
“No need, we can stay on campus.”
Tina who had been silent since seeing Shi Lei was looking at Mia with some anxiety.
What Gu Ming didn’t expect next was that the usually obedient Tina surprisingly went against her usual behavior to help Mia out of trouble. She even wrapped both hands around Gu Ming’s right hand.
Gu Ming looked at Tina with confusion. Their eyes met and Tina guiltily said,
“Well… I… I just saw that Mia seemed uncomfortable…”
Before Gu Ming could say anything else, the freed Mia leaned into his ear and whispered quietly,
“Brother, I have something good for you to see.”
“Huh?”
A question mark formed in Gu Ming’s mind.
Before Gu Ming could ask, Miya recited a short spell straight from the screen, and suddenly there were more voices in Gu Ming’s head.
“You’ve successfully angered me… It seems I can only beat you with that move… Behold my ultimate technique… Phantom Split Sword… Ah, what a hearty battle.”
In the picture, a teenage Gu Ming was swinging a stick wildly at the surrounding flowers and plants. After wreaking havoc, he started talking to himself.
The second scene was on a hazy rainy day. Gu Ming was alone in the forest, walking down the road with an umbrella in one hand.
He shouted at several low-level undead creatures ahead,
“Do you hear it? This melody.”
Gu Ming put away his umbrella and calmly approached several wobbly skeleton soldiers. He said,
“The gears of fate have begun to turn. Can you break my destructive requiem?”
A smile appeared on Gu Ming’s face.
“Poor warriors bearing the cross of peace, your sacrifices will become my foundation. All this is for the great purification; now is when we need Blood Soul Song.”
After spouting these chuunibyou phrases (delusions of grandeur), Gu Ming drew his long sword and cut down several skeleton soldiers with just a few strokes. There wasn’t any requiem heard throughout.
“Hmph! Too weak! You are simply no match under my Requiem! I need to drink more blood! Hahaha…”
The scene ended here and waves of shock surged within Gu Ming’s heart.
“Damn it! How did she know? Tell me how she knew?! Ahhh!! Damn your Blood Soul Song! Damn your hearty battles! Damn myself back then being so full of chuunibyou nonsense!”
Miya continued to whisper into Gu Ming’s ear,
“Heheheh, big brother wouldn’t want others knowing about this right?”
Hearing Miya’s whispering words, Gu Ming gave her a strange look.
“Wait… are you the villain or am I? Why do I feel like you’re more of a villain than me today?”
Regardless, Gu Ming knew that she had him completely under her control.
Swallowing nervously, he leaned in close to Mia’s ear and asked,
“Tell me honestly, how did you know? How much have you kept?”
Seeing that Gu Ming was already showing signs of submission, Mia, with her high-bridged nose, said,
“Hehe, don’t worry about it. Just tell me if we’re applying or not.”
Suddenly, Gu Ming thought back to those sorrowful nights.
Even the clear-minded mantra of his seniors couldn’t suppress the wildness raging within him. The wolf-like demon inside him was showing signs of awakening (howl), making it increasingly difficult for him to control himself in the future.
This made Gu Ming struggle a bit; he feared that one day he might inadvertently unleash a beastly party.
Just as Gu Ming was lost in his thoughts, Mia beside him couldn’t wait any longer and shouted at Sherry,
“Sister Sherry! I want to tell you about my brother…uhm…”
Hearing this voice, Gu Ming’s right hand broke free from Tina’s grasp and covered Mia’s mouth tightly. He whispered,
“My little ancestor! Your brother is wrong. Please don’t ruin your brother’s reputation by speaking recklessly.”
Suddenly Gu Ming felt like his palm had touched something.
“Hiss…this little girl!”
Mia licked his palm while her mouth was covered and signaled with her eyes that it was time for Gu Ming to act.
Gu ming let go of Mia and wiped his hand on himself.
He then turned towards Sherry and said,
“I’ve thought about it; I think we three should apply after all. Could you please recommend us?”
Sherry showed a polite smile and said,
“No problem at all! You siblings have such a good relationship; I’m quite envious seeing how well you get along.”
Before Gu Ming could respond, Miya took over the conversation and said protectively, “Sister, the three of us are not siblings. We’re a married couple, a real married couple. Do you understand?”
After speaking, she gave Tina a look. Tina instantly understood and held onto Gu Ming’s arm as she agreed aloud, “Yes, our relationship with Master Brother is just like that. Sister Sherry, please don’t misunderstand.”
Standing aside was Sherry who indeed had an exploratory intent when she spoke earlier. After all, Gu Ming was handsome with strong abilities and high talent. Although it wasn’t known whether he had money or not yet this small issue didn’t affect his charm.
Seeing the two girls guarding their food so fiercely made Sherry lose her intention to steal him away but in her heart she still mocked Gu Ming: “You move pretty fast huh? Even calling you ‘Master Brother’, you sure play some kinky games.”
Gu Ming noticed Sherry’s strange gaze at him and felt somewhat puzzled.
Sherry quickly regained her composure and said with a smile: “Alright then sister understands now let’s go apply first.”
Miya gave an OK sign with her hand and the three of them headed towards the dormitory.
On their way there Gu Ming asked Miya a bunch of questions:
“Miya tell me honestly who else knows about this besides you? Does Tina know?”
“You guess.”
“How long will it take for you to clear those things up?”
“It depends on your performance.”
At this moment Gu Ming deeply regretted his past idle self sighed inwardly and involuntarily started singing:
“If I could do it all again I’d choose Li Bai few hundred years ago good or bad no one would guess if I could do it all again…”
“Brother your singing is really nice who is Li Bai brother? Is he a poet?”
“You guess.”
“……”
“Big brother, don’t be so petty. Are you telling me that you’re not going to care about your cute little sister anymore?”
“That depends on how you behave.”
“……”
“No, isn’t it enough that I’ve said it?”
As Mia walked, she shook Gu Ming’s hand and decisively sold out her teammate to divert attention.
“Actually, Tina also knows about it. She just doesn’t know as much as I do.”
Gu Ming turned his head and glanced at Tina. Tina guiltily lowered her head. When Gu Ming’s gaze was no longer on her, she quietly kicked Mia’s butt and muttered,
“Do you always sell out your teammates like this?”
Mia didn’t back down either and kicked back.
“I can’t be the only one attracting hatred.”
While the two girls were laughing and playing around, Gu Ming in the middle felt extremely awkward. He didn’t want to say anything else; he just wanted to find a block of tofu and kill himself with embarrassment.
