Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Helping Gwen

"This is going to hurt a bit. You'll have to bear with it."

Peter opened the first aid kit and took out some iodine.

Gwen's pale back was exposed to his view, but there was no beauty in it at the moment. A bloody, gruesome wound marred her skin.

What a shame. Such smooth skin might end up scarred.

After Gwen leaves, I'll check the system store to see if there's any scar-healing ointment.

Gwen sat with her back to Peter. Under normal circumstances, she would have been blushing and her heart racing, but now she was enduring immense pain.

"I'm really sorry for troubling you to disinfect the wound."

Influenced by her father, George, Gwen had always wanted to contribute to society and maintain order.

While having dinner tonight, George suddenly received a message from the police station.

A criminal was controlling a Rhino Armor and robbing a bank, causing significant destruction.

As the commissioner of the NYPD, George had a duty to maintain the city's safety and immediately rushed to the scene.

Worried about her father's safety, Gwen changed into her suit and secretly followed.

Then, inevitably, she ended up fighting the Rhino.

But she had only recently gained her powers.

Her combat skills and reflexes were still immature.

The wound on her back was caused by the Rhino's sharp horn.

If it had been any deeper, this new superhero might have died on the spot.

As for going to the hospital to treat the wound, Gwen hadn't considered it.

The idea of an ambulance arriving with a single phone call only happens in TV shows.

Although George was the police commissioner and could access special hospital services, doing so would definitely expose Gwen's identity.

She had planned to treat the wound at home but ended up losing strength and falling onto Peter's windowsill.

"This is going to sting a bit!"

Because the wound was so deep, Peter pressed a towel against Gwen's lower back and poured a small bottle of iodine over it.

"Hiss~"

Gwen gritted her teeth, enduring the pain.

Once the alcohol's effect subsided, Peter quickly bandaged her up with gauze.

"Uh…"

"Sorry about this!"

"Huh?"

Before Gwen could react, Peter's warm hands reached into her suit.

Layer by layer, he wrapped the gauze around her body.

Gwen could feel Peter's hands moving back and forth beneath her chest as he secured the bandage.

This made Gwen, behind her mask, extremely embarrassed.

This was so humiliating!!!!

Exposing her back to Peter was already the maximum level of intimacy she could handle!!

Although Gwen had joined a band at school with Mary Jane and was always trying new things, that didn't mean she was open-minded.

Especially since her father was quite conservative.

Now, her pale face was flushed red, and even her ears were burning.

Thankfully, it was Peter. If it had been someone else…

No, it wouldn't have been someone else.

If it were a stranger, she wouldn't have climbed in at all.

"Doctors don't discriminate. Don't overthink it."

Peter's casual remark eased the awkward atmosphere a little.

"All done."

Peter tied off the gauze and instructed,

"Remember to change the bandage every day. It's best to wrap it with a bandage and apply some medicinal powder. If it's inconvenient for you, you can always come to me."

I won't come to you again…

Gwen silently grumbled to herself.

She would never allow such an embarrassing situation to happen a second time.

Gwen stood up and looked at Peter with genuine gratitude.

"Thank you, Peter."

"How do you know my name is Peter?"

Oh no!!!

Gwen was instantly speechless. She had forgotten she was still wearing her mask.

"You must have seen the signature on my desk."

After teasing Gwen, Peter gave her an out.

"Right, I saw your signature."

Gwen breathed a sigh of relief.

"Well, I'll be going now."

Gwen walked toward the window.

"Wait."

Peter grabbed Gwen's hand.

"Spider-Woman, you're the city's hero. I like you."

Hearing this, Gwen snorted inwardly.

Is this a confession?

You've never said that to the blonde girl next door without her mask, no! The blonde beauty.

"What else? Do you want my phone number? Or maybe a date?"

Peter didn't respond to that.

Instead, he asked her to wait and pulled out something resembling a metal wristband from a drawer.

"What's this?"

"Something I developed specifically for you. I call it the Web Shooter."

Peter had invented this before even visiting Oscorp.

For a top-tier science student, creating small gadgets wasn't a problem.

Originally, he had intended it for himself, but it turned out that in this world, Gwen was Spider-Woman.

Gwen looked puzzled.

"What does it do?"

"As the name suggests, it shoots webs. What kind of spider can't shoot webs?"

"Wear it, and you'll be able to swing through New York's steel jungle."

"It's highly flexible, extremely durable, and the webs automatically dissolve after four hours. Very eco-friendly."

Gwen was at a loss for words.

This was exactly what she needed right now.

After all, Gwen wasn't like the original Spider-Man in the movies, who could naturally shoot webs.

Although Gwen was smart, she was no match for Peter. She could never have invented this on her own.

Under normal circumstances, the Web Shooter would have been developed by the original Wasp for her.

But with Peter here, Gwen had skipped several years of trial and error.

Peter took out another Web Shooter and a box of web cartridges from the drawer.

"Take them all. They should last you a while."

Gwen was deeply moved. She had been trying to maintain her Spider-Woman persona, but now she couldn't hold back anymore.

She hugged Peter tightly.

"Thank you, Peter," she whispered in his ear.

Then, she pulled down part of her mask, revealing her lips, and kissed Peter on the cheek.
