Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Transmigrating into the Marvel World, Becoming Peter Parker

"Aren't you getting up yet?"

"Don't forget, the holidays are over. Today's the first day back at school."

Peter yawned, his head feeling heavy and foggy. It must have been from drinking too much on the last day of the vacation. He lazily reached toward the bedside table and grabbed his glasses. His vision shifted from blurry to clear.

Warm, golden sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the youthful face of the girl standing before him. The light made her shoulder-length blonde hair shine even brighter.

Although it had been over a decade since he transmigrated into this world, waking up still felt surreal. He never imagined he'd become Peter Parker. Even more surprising was that, despite visiting Oscorp, he hadn't been bitten by a spider.

Not that becoming Spider-Man would have been great anyway. Compared to gaining superpowers and the ability to shoot webs, it would have been better for his family to live a peaceful, healthy life together. After all, tragedy is Spider-Man's destiny. If Uncle Ben were to die, Aunt May, with her graying hair, would be heartbroken every day.

Not becoming Spider-Man actually felt like a stroke of luck to Peter. With his grades, he could easily get into a decent university and land a good job after graduation. But then he discovered something utterly depressing: in this world, Spider-Man was actually his neighbor, Gwen!!

Did that mean he was destined to be sacrificed by the world?? Almost everyone knows that Spider-Man is a tragic superhero—whether it's family or friends, someone always ends up paying the price. And for Gwen, the Spider-Woman, he was the one destined to be sacrificed.

In his mind, he could already picture himself lying in Gwen's arms, gasping his last breath and saying, "Remember, with great power comes great responsibility!" Just thinking about it was enough to make him want to scream.

Originally, Peter wanted to run away, but it seemed useless no matter how far he went. The laws of Stan Lee dictated that those closest to Spider-Man were doomed to tragic fates. Unless there was some greater force at play, Peter didn't hold out much hope. After all, if there were some kind of cheat system, it would have shown up by now, right? It had been over a decade since he arrived in this world.

As he looked at the blonde girl in front of him and recalled the black-and-white figure with a white hood that had appeared in the Daily Bugle a few days ago, Peter's last glimmer of hope vanished. He had been hoping that this world's Spider-Man would be Miles Morales…

"Aren't you getting up? I remember you used to be so diligent," Gwen said, leaning casually against Peter's desk as if it were her own room.

I used to be diligent because I didn't think I'd be the one sacrificed…

There's no point in working hard when you're destined to say, "With great power comes great responsibility!"

This inevitable fate is like being an NPC designed to motivate Spider-Man.

"Gwen, how did you get into my room?"

"I let her in," came the warm, kindly voice of Aunt May from the doorway. She was holding a cup of hot milk, clearly prepared for Peter.

Uncle Ben and Aunt May truly treated Peter as their own child. Even though their financial situation wasn't great, they always made sure Peter had the best of everything. Their life, though modest, was a happy one. Because Peter consistently earned straight A's, Uncle Ben often bragged about him to his colleagues and friends.

After getting dressed, Peter walked downstairs to find Aunt May had already prepared breakfast. The TV was playing the morning news. A pale-skinned news anchor recited her script with a blank expression.

"Breaking news: Stark Industries and Wayne Enterprises have announced a new partnership. The two met in Gotham City, and the collaboration between these two giants is expected to bring new job opportunities to the area."

Peter took a sip of milk, unfazed by the news. Wayne Enterprises… Stark Industries… One was the leading enterprise in Gotham, the other a super-tech weapons company. Two companies from entirely different worlds were now collaborating. What kind of world had he ended up in?

Although he had long accepted this reality, Peter couldn't help but complain. Uncle Ben's broad hand rested on his shoulder.

"Peter, Gwen was worried you'd be late, so she came over early on your first day of senior year to wake you up. You're not a little boy anymore; it's time to show some gentleman."

Gwen, with her golden hair and pretty face, smiled faintly. Uncle Ben's words made her feel appreciated, and she was indeed hoping for some praise from Peter.

Peter, feeling utterly defeated, took a bite of his bland breakfast and muttered gloomily, "Actually, I set an alarm last night…"

Aunt May handed a cup of hot milk to Gwen. She had always liked the girl next door. Uncle Ben and Gwen's father, George Stacy, had known each other for a long time. Later, by coincidence, they became friends. Having been neighbors for over twenty years, George had risen from a senior detective to the current commissioner of the NYPD. The two families had always maintained a friendly relationship, visiting each other's homes almost every two weeks.

Gwen had practically grown up in front of Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Similarly, George thought highly of Peter and had even suggested he attend the police academy. But Peter had no such ambitions. In any world, being a police officer was a high-risk profession, let alone in a world where superheroes and supervillains ran rampant—a fusion of DC and Marvel universes.
