The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 16: The Women’s Fight

After returning to the mansion, I was floating on a water cushion, heading to the bath to soothe my tired body from the chaos caused by Iris and Fiera.

However, just my luck, I ran into Iris in the hallway, and I was filled to the brim with a desire to escape immediately.

“What a coincidence, Lord Lewis. Where are you headed?”

“I’m on my way to the bath because I’m tired.”

“I see. So where have you been until now?”

For some reason, when she asked about my whereabouts, I felt a strange pressure from Iris, but I dismissed it and said I’d been resting in my room.

“I see. Then why do you smell like Fiera?”

“…”

When she mentioned the smell, I recalled my earlier interaction with Fiera.

She seemed to have exposed the connection between Iris and me through scent, but Iris is of the same human race as I am. Is it really possible for her to notice anything through smell?

“Also, you have some of Fiera’s tail fur on your clothes.”

No, that’s probably just bluff. Because I definitely hadn’t touched Fiera’s tail today.

This feels like one of those situations where someone freaks out after being told, “You’ve got your affair partner’s hair on you!”

(Eh, not that I’m having an affair or anything…)

Noticing this, I decided to respond with composure and a smile.

“Is Fiera a beastkin? I’ve never met one, so I doubt that fur is from her.”

After hearing my answer, Iris came closer with a cheerful smile, picking a hair off my sleeve.

“This looks like a silver wolf’s tail fur. Am I mistaken?”

(…No way. This isn’t bluffing, it’s the real deal!)

Realizing that I’d been caught meeting Fiera, I felt an overwhelming urge to flee, but if I did that, it would only make things worse. So, I decided to come clean.

Sigh. You’re right. I met with Fiera. But it’s not like I did anything inappropriate; I just went to let her know that we probably won’t be able to adventure together for a while.”

Understanding that I couldn’t deceive her any longer, I spilled everything about meeting Fiera and my reasons.

Iris was smiling the whole time, but I couldn’t help feeling that smile was a little creepy.

“Um, can I go now?”

Having finished explaining, I tried to wrap things up and escape to be alone.

“Sure, that’s fine. But I have one request.”

“A request… you say?”

“Please let me meet Fiera.”

“…Huh?”

“I have a lot I want to discuss with her.”

“I-I understand. I’ll talk to Fiera about it.”

“Thank you.”

For a moment, I thought about refusing, but the look in Iris’s eyes that seemed to say, “You won’t refuse, will you?” left me with no choice but to agree.

Three days later. Disguised by magic, Iris and I were walking through the streets to meet Fiera.

However, since it was winter, there were no stalls, and all I saw was snow.

These past three days had really worn me out. Every time I was reading in the library, for some reason Iris would show up and wouldn’t leave my side. And when I was training with the knight order, she’d watch me the entire time, smiling.

I figured it would be cold for her to do nothing but watch during training, so I even told her to go back to the mansion…

“It’s fine, you don’t have to worry about me. Now, focus on your training.”

And so, I was under constant surveillance until the training was over.

Then, this morning, when I was about to use transformation magic to become Eir as usual, Iris unexpectedly stopped me.

“Lord Lewis, today I’d like you to transform into a blonde with blue eyes, like me.”

“…Huh?”

“And I’d like to be a silver-haired girl with golden eyes.”

“No, that’s my—”

“Please.”

Even though she looked all smiles, the mysterious pressure I felt from Iris made it impossible for me to refuse. I could only nod in agreement.

“Is this fine?”

“Yes, as expected of you.”

“Not a big deal.”

Having transformed as Iris wished, I handed her a hooded robe because she would stand out otherwise.

“It’s kind of noticeable, so please wear this.”

“Understood.”

After receiving the robe from me, she pulled the hood down deeply and declared she was ready.

Once I confirmed that, I used flying magic on both of us to soar through the sky.

Iris, who was flying for the first time, looked like she was having a blast, and it didn’t take long for us to reach the town.

“So, where are we meeting Fiera?”

“At the inn where she’s staying. They have private dining rooms, so we plan to have lunch there while we discuss things.”

“Got it.”

When we arrived at the inn where Fiera was, I entered and started looking for her.

“There she is.”

I quickly spotted Fiera and headed towards the wall with Iris.

“Fiera, did I keep you waiting?”

“Nope, right on time.”

Fiera, who had been waiting for us, was dressed cutely in a skirt instead of her usual adventurer’s outfit.

“By the way, why are you wearing a hood?”

“That’s for later. Now, let’s move.”

“Okay.”

We called a staff member over to guide us to the private room Fiera had reserved.

“Finally, I can take this off.”

Now that there was no one around, Iris and I took off the robes we had been wearing all along.

As we did, I noticed that Fiera’s eyes sharpened slightly, and her ears perked up.

“What’s going on?”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

“Your hair and eye colors are different from last time.”

It was true that the last time I showed myself to Fiera, I had silver hair and golden eyes.

However, now I was blonde with blue eyes due to Iris’s request, and Iris had transformed into silver-haired with golden eyes.

Since Fiera had seen Iris when we defeated the ogre, if she remembered her, she would notice that we had swapped colors.

“Hehe. I asked for this look. How do I look? Does it suit me?”

“It doesn’t suit you. You should stop right away.”

Iris said this with an air of triumph, which made Fiera’s voice slightly filled with anger.

“Eir looks better in his original form. Changing it shows a lack of taste.”

“What are you talking about? Until recently, you didn’t even know his real appearance.”

I had no idea why they were arguing, but I found it too bothersome to intervene, so I called the staff to place a casual order.

Even after we received our orders, the two continued to bicker, and I just ate my meal while watching them.

(Why are these two doing this…?)

Not having a clue what their goal was, after finishing my food, I thought it was annoying but still asked.

“What are you two arguing about?”

“Don’t worry about it, Lord Lewis.”

“You don’t need to mind it, Eir.”

I thought about leaving, but saying that out loud seemed like it would lead to trouble, so I kept my mouth shut.

After finishing with a dessert parfait, I used magic to create a water pillow and fell asleep.

As I drifted off, Iris and Fiera began a direct conversation instead of a roundabout one.

“Does Fiera-san like Lord Lewis?”

“…I’m not sure. I just want to be with him. How about you?”

“I like him. I love him. So… if your feelings are this half-hearted, please don’t get any closer to Lord Lewis.”

Perhaps sensing the seriousness in Iris’s tone, Fiera couldn’t respond immediately.

Her feelings were genuine. She truly liked Lewis, and one could feel her strong resolve to do anything for him.

“…I won’t leave. I will never leave.”

Fiera still wasn’t sure about her feelings, but she felt that if she distanced herself from Lewis now, she would never be able to walk the same path with him again.

“I see. Well, for now, I’ll give you a passing grade. However, if the next time we meet you still have those vague feelings, I’m sure you know what happens then?”

“Got it.”

Thus, the women’s fight between Iris and Fiera came to an end, but they still didn’t know Lewis’s true purpose and feelings.

His goal was to obtain eternal death, and he possessed no romantic feelings in his heart.

After experiencing death and rebirth countless times, he had lost the ability to love. Would these two be able to turn his heart around in the future?

That remained unknown to anyone at this point.
