The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Episode 10: A Nightmare Once More

Returning to the mansion, I was now confronted by an unbearable reality.

“I’m sorry, Miria. Could you say that one more time?”

“Yes. It seems that Lady Iris will be visiting this mansion in three weeks.”

It didn’t seem like I had misheard. Apparently, my reaper would be coming here in three weeks.

(Wh-why? This has never happened before!)

“Why is she coming at a time like this? The Duke’s territory is covered in snow, and it’s not exactly an easy place to get to.”

“She wants to see Lord Lewis. Even though the snow is heavy, adventurers and knights are clearing the roads, so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.”

That was certainly true. If the roads became impassable due to snow, the Duke’s territory would see no merchants during winter, leading to dire straits.

That being said, we had measures in place for self-sufficiency during winter, but there were still things only merchants could supply, which is why adventurers and knights were clearing paths in winter.

(Aah, this is impossible. Why does she have to come? Please just leave me alone!)

And so, against my will, I was set to meet my fiancée for the first time in about six months.

The next day, I found myself at the Adventurers’ Guild to escape reality.

“Sigh, I need to level up my rank quickly!”

For the time being, I decided to ignore Iris and focus on what I wanted to do.

“If I want to level up quickly, it’s best to tackle multiple requests at once!”

With that in mind, I headed to the request board and picked up ten requests that I could easily accomplish in the same area.

I took them to Shira, the lady who had helped me the day before.

“Good morning, Shira.”

“Oh, good morning, Eir. Are you taking on requests already?”

“Yes. Please handle these.”

“I’ll take a look.”

After reviewing the ten requests I handed her, Shira confirmed, “No problem!” and processed them.

“Take care out there!”

“Thank you!”

Waved off by Shira, I headed into the nearby forest to tackle the requests.

Borrowing a cart from the guild and pulling it along, I made my way to the forest and used detection magic to search for monsters.

“Oh, they’re surprisingly close together.”

All the requests I accepted were for defeating monsters, primarily C-Rank monsters like White Wolves and Orcs.

“Alright, let’s get this done quickly!”

I cast body enhancement magic on myself, left the cart at the entrance of the forest, and dashed toward the monsters.

The first ones I encountered were a pack of White Wolves. These creatures typically operate in packs and attack with coordinated movements, making them troublesome foes. Therefore, as their numbers increase, the difficulty level of the request goes up accordingly.

In front of me now were ten of them, with a slightly larger one acting as the leader, displaying excellent teamwork.

“Well, that doesn’t matter anyway.”

Without hesitation, I drew my sword and cleanly severed the leader’s head in an instant.

Following that, I quickly dispatched the two nearest wolves and finished off the remaining disoriented members with wind magic’s wind blades. It was all over in a flash.

“They’re still weak.”

Feeling no challenge at all, I collected the magic stones and materials from the slain White Wolves and moved on to the next spot.

The next monsters I spotted were Orcs. Orcs have pig-like faces with boar-like tusks, towering slightly over humans and having robust bodies with notable guts.

“Bu-MoooOooo!!”

Upon noticing me, the Orc readied its weapon and braced itself.

While they’re strong, their slow movements mean they aren’t much of a threat speed-wise.

On the contrary, their strength and hefty build give them substantial defense, making them tough to take down for newcomers.

“When fighting Orcs, it’s all about speed.”

Accelerating my running speed further, I made myself disappear from the Orc’s view.

Having lost track of me, the Orc frantically searched but I had already circled behind it.

“Even with all this blubber and muscle, the joints aren’t that tough.”

I struck from behind, slicing off its left shoulder before cutting the tendons behind both knees.

“Bu-Mooo?!”

With its tendons severed, the Orc collapsed to its knees, and I leaped, aiming my sword downward, thrusting it into its chest with the force of my descent.

“Hmph. No matter how muscled you are, once the joints are cut, it’s over.”

After collecting the Orc’s materials, I continued racing through the forest, defeating the required monsters for my requests.

Having completed the requests, I returned to the guild to report.

“Shira!”

“Oh? Eir? You’re back so soon. Was there a problem?”

“No, I’m here to report that I’ve completed the requests.”

“…Eh?”

Ignoring Shira’s surprised expression, I placed the monster materials I brought on the reception desk.

“Here are the Orc tusks, White Wolf fangs, pelts, and magic stones. C-Can you wait a moment? I need to verify this!”

Shira hurried off to cross-check the materials and request confirmation.

“…You’ve really completed them all.”

After a while, Shira muttered in disbelief, still looking perplexed.

“With this, I’ve cleared ten C-Rank requests, so I can take the B-Rank test, right? I’d like to take it right away.”

“Y-Yes. I… understand. I’ll prepare everything.”

“I’m coming back tomorrow, so please provide the details then.”

“Sure.”

With my reward received from Shira, I turned my back on her, still not fully immersed in reality, and returned to the mansion, feeling joyful about leveling up.

The next day, I went to the Adventurers’ Guild as promised and headed straight for Shira.

“Good morning, Shira!”

“Oh, you really came! I mean… good morning, Eir.”

Shira had seemed a bit off since yesterday, and today she seemed even stranger.

Well, it wasn’t something to dwell on, so I ignored it.

“So, what about the B-Rank test we discussed yesterday?”

“Ah, yes. I’ve arranged for you to take the test with the examiner the day after tomorrow. The request is prepared on our end, so please ensure you bring what you need on the day.”

“By the way, the target for the hunt is a Troll. Please make adequate preparations.”

(A Troll, huh?)

Trolls are larger monsters than Orcs, also quite hefty and just as slow-moving as Orcs.

However, Trolls possess regenerative abilities, making them tough to kill with normal attacks.

“Got it. I’m heading home for today. I have preparations to make.”

“Understood. The meeting place will be the Adventurers’ Guild. Take care.”

Exiting the Adventurers’ Guild, I wandered around the town without a particular destination in mind.

I mentioned preparations, but there wasn’t anything specifically necessary, and dying didn’t really bother me.

“That’s just the fate of my current life.”

I felt no fear of death. I had no interest in living. I simply wanted to do what I wanted to do.

With such thoughts in mind, I strolled around happily on my own.
