The Villain Wants to Change Genres

Chapter 96

Chapter 96

“What?”

He kept staring without any response. Nobles generally disliked being ignored, being stared at, and being looked down upon like this. Especially those caught up in superiority complexes like Gaspar.

“Hey. What are you doing? Do you have business here?”

As expected, his face turned red and blue when all his words were ignored. Everyone except Gaspar noticed what Luwen was aiming for, but they didn’t stop him. Gaspar was the only one who didn’t know.

“This guy has been ignoring me since earlier.”

Usually annoyed by commoners being above him, Gaspar finally lost his temper and stood up abruptly. He grabbed Luwen’s collar and shouted.

“Are you taking me lightly because I’ve been lenient? Huh?!”

Despite this, Luwen remained calm, which made Gaspar even more aggressive. He raised his arm as if he was about to strike.

“Look at me! Won’t you look? I said look at me-“

At that moment, Luwen grabbed the exact same spot on Gaspar’s wrist where Fei’s bruise was.

Crunch.

“-Aaaaarghhhh!”

Luwen calmly looked down at Gaspar, who had fallen to his knees in pain, then released his hand and politely bowed to the president.

“I apologize. I grabbed him reflexively out of surprise, but it seems I might have broken it. It wasn’t intentional, Mr. President.”

“No, it’s fine. It was an unexpected accident caused by him attacking first. Silbertian, could you take Gaspar to the infirmary?”

“Yes, Mr. President.”

After the vice president took Gaspar out, the student council room became quiet. The president spoke to Luwen.

“Gaspar won’t be able to escape punishment this time, considering the previous incident. Luwen, you don’t need to worry as I witnessed it was self-defense.”

“Thank you for understanding.”

“It’s only natural, no need to thank me.”

The president seemed relieved, as if he had pulled out an aching tooth.

“Mr. President, the medical department wanted to change the practical exam rules, but this time I’d like to select a medical student, so I hope we can keep it as before.”

“Ah, that. I thought they were just mentioning it in passing, but it seems they were serious. It’s a minor issue, so it doesn’t matter which side chooses, but… Alright. I’ll keep it as it is.”

The president had liked the quiet and upright Luwen since his admission. With his exceptional skills on top of that, he was giving him quite a few privileges. Despite this, Luwen never acted arrogantly, relying on his abilities, and always remained humble. The more he saw of him, the more impressed he was.

That’s why he thought Luwen must have had a good reason for using violence against Gaspar. Probably because of his friend Norman. For Luwen, who rarely showed emotional fluctuations, to be angry for the sake of a weaker person – he was truly an exemplary figure of knighthood.

After a brief chat, the president saw Luwen and Drabis off and headed to the infirmary. Despite going to deal with Gaspar, his steps were quite light.

Meanwhile, as they walked side by side towards the dormitory, Drabis asked Luwen.

“Hey, how was Norman? Does he really look like your young master?”

“He does look similar, but he’s not related to the Duke’s family.”

“What! Really? Then it’s okay to approach him-“

Drabis shut his mouth at Luwen’s intense gaze.

“Don’t touch that person.”

“W-what? Why? You said he’s not related. What’s going on? Don’t tell me you fell for him at first sight?”

It was difficult to explain since they had agreed to keep it a secret, but Drabis had just provided a very good excuse. It seemed quite appropriate, not just for this time but also as a reason to stay close to Fei until graduation.

“Yeah.”

“No way… But I was first…”

“So? Are you going to keep bothering Norman?”

“No? No, I won’t. Don’t look at me like that. I’m really scared, my friend.”

He always acts like this even when he’s not really scared. But since he was the type to keep his word even if he seemed frivolous, Luwen turned his head to face forward.

‘The medical department president alone would find it difficult to spread rumors this extensively.’

There must be a close circle helping him. Luwen recalled the students who were always following the president when they met.

‘The young master seems to think that suppressing the rumors is enough, but we can’t let it go like that.’

He couldn’t just leave those who spread such absurd scandals about him alone. Moreover, the medical department president seemed quite insidious, so even if these rumors ended, he might trouble Fei in other ways.

Luwen felt a strong sense of responsibility for Fei’s naivety in thinking that everything would be resolved just by taking the top spot, even though he knew who was behind it.

‘I’ll have to handle this without the young master knowing.’

He needed to crush them thoroughly so they couldn’t rise again. If he could strip the president of his position and remove all his close circle to isolate him, he wouldn’t be able to do something like this again.

“Drabis. You don’t need to study, right?”

“Huh? Of course~ I’ve already finished studying. Why? Do you have something else to do? What is it? Whatever it is, I’m in! Anything Luwen is interested in is totally exciting!”

“Follow me. I’ll explain.”

Finally, the written exams were over. The story that country Norman wasn’t related to the Duke’s family had spread well too. Because of that, the teasing remarks that had momentarily subsided revived, but thanks to my roommates’ protection, my daily life was peaceful.

They never left me alone. Even when moving for a short while, at least one of the three would always accompany me. This started from the day little Norman discovered the clear bruise mark on my wrist and made a fuss.

Thanks to this, I thought I could spend time comfortably until the exam results were announced, but…

Knock knock.

When the sound of knocking was heard, my roommates all looked at me at once. Nadian grinning, little Norman with his shoulders shaking in excitement, and Cadin with his eyes sparkling with interest despite his expressionless face.

Luwen had started visiting at the same time every day to the point where we all knew who was knocking now.

I swallowed a sigh and got up slowly. I clearly told him not to come until my rumors disappeared, but he’s not listening.

“Who is it?”

I asked just in case, but-

“It’s Luwen.”

The visitor was as expected. It would be troublesome to keep the noticeable Luwen standing outside, so I had no choice but to open the door.

“You came again?”

“Yes. I missed you.”

“…”

I could clearly picture the expressions of my roommates who would be enjoying this situation. The only fortunate thing was that, contrary to expectations, Luwen wasn’t entangled in my dirty rumors. Instead, the academy was buzzing with the story of Luwen falling in love at first sight.

The reactions were varied. Some pitied Luwen for falling for the dirty country Norman, some said we matched outwardly, some cheered for me or Luwen, some hoped we would end up together, some hoped Luwen would come to his senses, and so on.

Maybe because the exams were over, they say our story is being talked about everywhere.

“Would you like to go for a walk?”

Luwen smiled brightly and held out his hand.

Honestly… if I had dealt with it firmly, he wouldn’t have come every day. But Luwen’s kindness towards Norman the commoner, not the young master, was something I had never experienced before…

“Alright.”

I end up accepting. It would be different if unpleasant words were circulating about Luwen, but that wasn’t the case. Besides, I was planning to stick with Luwen after teaching that president guy a lesson anyway, so it’s not a problem if that time has come earlier.

I left the dormitory room with Luwen. As we came out of the building and I was about to turn left, Luwen naturally stepped half a step forward to block the way.

“Let’s go this way.”

If we go straight, it leads to the central garden, doesn’t it? It was always crowded with people.

But since Luwen led me with a smile, and it was the first time he moved ahead without my clear permission, I found it refreshing and followed without saying anything.

Originally, the reason we had been taking less crowded paths was because Luwen’s attitude towards country Norman was awkward. He seemed to be wandering somewhere between treating me as the young master and as commoner Norman, but it looked like he had finally figured out how to treat me. Today, his speech and behavior were natural.

The problem was…

“We might bump into someone. This way.”

Luwen gently wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me towards him. It clearly wasn’t close enough to bump into anyone. Thanks to this, I became certain.

He was now overprotecting even country Norman.

“You don’t have to do this every time.”

I meant to say not to overprotect me, but either he didn’t understand or chose to ignore it, as Luwen just smiled brightly. At the same time, I heard someone’s exclamation.
