Chapter 5: The Black Hand Under The Table! Good Guy, The Rich Second Generation Sends the Goddess:
Liu Yun was barely considered part of the upper class. Naturally, he knew who Xu Hao was—a top young master in their circle. In fact, when Liu Yun first took over his family’s company, they gave him a list of influential people. Each of these figures held immense power, and offending any of them could spell doom for his family. At the top of that list was Xu Hao, someone Liu Yun knew he could never provoke.
As the realization hit him, Liu Yun felt a cold sweat run down his back. His body tensed as goosebumps covered his skin.
“Why… why is he here?” Liu Yun thought, his heart racing.
At first, from a distance, Liu Yun hadn’t recognized him. But now, standing close, there was no mistaking it—this was Xu Hao. Panic set in. Even though his family owned a small company worth several million, it was nothing compared to the true giants. If he offended Xu Hao, the consequences would be catastrophic. Liu Yun couldn’t even imagine what would happen next.
As words formed on his lips, Liu Yun quickly changed his tone.
“Mr. Xu… I’m sorry, I didn’t realize it was you. If you’d like, you’re welcome to stay. I apologize if my hospitality has been lacking…”
For years, Liu Yun had pursued Xia Mengyao, and now, here she was—sitting beside Xu Hao. However, if it came to choosing between her and his family’s survival, he had no choice but to let go.
The group around them watched in stunned silence.
“What just happened?” someone whispered.
Li Yue, Xia Mengyao’s best friend, was about to offer her seat to Xu Hao, but Liu Yun’s sudden change of heart left her confused. She glanced at Xu Hao, her surprise evident.
On the other hand, Xia Mengyao wasn’t surprised at all.
Knowing Xu Hao’s status, it was no shock that Liu Yun would back down. In fact, Xia Mengyao felt relieved—her persistent suitor had finally given up. But then, she quickly realized her relief was short-lived.
After pushing Liu Yun away, she now had to deal with Xu Hao, the “hungry wolf.” She could barely suppress her urge to cry.
Xu Hao’s hand rested lightly on her waist, and he gave her a playful smile.
Liu Yun grew more nervous by the second, sweat running down his forehead. “Never mind,” Xu Hao said dismissively, waving his hand. He wasn’t particularly upset by this small incident.
Under Liu Yun’s direction, Xu Hao and Xia Mengyao took the best seats at the table, leaving Liu Yun to awkwardly sit alone in the corner.
“What just happened?” one of the students whispered. “Wasn’t Liu Yun about to show off?”
“Yeah, he’s been after Xia Mengyao for years, and now he just gave up on her?”
“It seems like Xu Hao’s got some serious connections…”
Whispers filled the room as everyone tried to make sense of the situation.
Many of the classmates now looked at Xu Hao with curiosity and awe. For someone like Liu Yun to back down so easily, Xu Hao must be someone of great importance.
As more students arrived and the waiters began serving the dishes, the private room buzzed with energy. Liu Yun, as the host, stood up and made a short speech, trying to lighten the mood.
Throughout the meal, many people couldn’t help but glance in Xu Hao’s direction, admiring his calm and composed demeanor. He and Xia Mengyao sat together, an elegant couple that seemed to be the center of attention.
However, Xia Mengyao was visibly uneasy. Her face alternated between red and pale as she occasionally gave Xu Hao pleading looks.

Under the table, Xu Hao’s hand rested on her leg, causing her immense discomfort. Meanwhile, he continued to eat calmly, enjoying his food as if nothing unusual was happening. To him, this was just a pleasant dinner—accompanied by the soft, silky feel of Xia Mengyao’s leg under his palm.
As Xu Hao savored his meal, Liu Yun emerged from the corner, holding a wine glass.
“It’s Liu Yun… He’s approaching the campus belle with a glass in hand…” Someone murmured.
“Is he challenging them to a drinking game? Liu Yun’s got some serious skills when it comes to drinking.”
Excitement rippled through the room as everyone braced for what they assumed would be an entertaining scene.
But Xu Hao remained composed, continuing to eat gracefully. His every move seemed effortless, drawing admiration from everyone watching.
When Liu Yun reached Xu Hao and Xia Mengyao, he showed a polite smile, though it was tinged with unease.
“Mr. Xu, I apologize once again for not recognizing you earlier. Please accept my sincere apologies.” Liu Yun then raised his glass and drank it in one gulp.
Without hesitation, he refilled his glass and toasted again. “Mr. Xu, you and the class monitor make a perfect couple. I wish you happiness forever.” After another polite gesture, Liu Yun returned to his seat.
“…?”
The classmates were speechless.
“Is he… just giving up?” one of them whispered in disbelief.
Before, Liu Yun had been persistent in his pursuit of Xia Mengyao. But now, not only was he not fighting for her, he was even wishing Xu Hao and Xia Mengyao happiness together!
Of course, no one understood the real reason behind Liu Yun’s behavior. He had no choice. Xu Hao’s presence was simply too overwhelming. If Liu Yun had continued to oppose him, the consequences could have been dire for him and his family. His only option was to make amends and retreat.
Meanwhile, from across the room, someone was watching silently: Lin Feng. He had come to see Xia Mengyao, the beautiful woman he couldn’t get out of his mind.
Seeing her sitting so closely next to Xu Hao, her blushing face and seemingly shy demeanor, made Lin Feng’s blood boil. He didn’t blame Xia Mengyao; instead, he directed all his anger toward Xu Hao.
“He must have tricked her.” Lin Feng thought, his fists clenching in frustration.

Inside the private room, the atmosphere grew tense. The air was heavy, and everyone was walking on eggshells, afraid to disrupt the uneasy peace that Xu Hao’s presence created.
Eventually, Chen Dong, one of the students, stood up and asked if everyone would like to sing to lighten the mood. With Xu Hao’s permission, the idea was met with enthusiastic applause.
Xu Hao, still playing with the wine glass in his hand, smiled mischievously.
The show was about to begin!
