The Vice Captain of the WhiteBeard Pirates

Chapter 64: A Quick Stop On Our Journey

After saying my fairwells to Whitebeard, who had just gotten up. Ken and the crew promptly began to set sail deeper into the New World. the journey from where we were to Wano, which was sort of closer to the farthest of Whitebeard's territories would take a couple of weeks.

This wasn't a bad thing on by any means. It just meant that I could stop by more islands on my way to Wano. We could always stop to resupply there before we kept on going with our journey. The sea was strangley calm as we sailed. There weren't many ships around us as we kept moving on. Abandoned islands and idle sea kings could be seen within the surroundings of the ship as we continued to sail.

I made a short request to make a stop at a nearby town so I could buy a lighter. I never smoked much when I lived in my past life. I wanted to try it, since I had been born into another world. The navigator claimed that there wouldn't be a town for the next few days. I sighed in discontent as I continued lounging on my couch.

Ken and the crew had resumed taking shifts once more. One group was helping sail the ship, another group was currently performing maintainance on the ship, and another group was currently training on the ship's deck.

Stussy, on the other hand, was currently reading the news that the World Economy News albatross had dropped in front of us as we were passing an island. Her eyes had been glued to the paper from the moment she looked at the first page. I was curious to see what had caught her attention, but I waited until she finished reading the paper.

Stussy then took the paper and handed it over to me. Her eyes held a flicker of concern as she handed it to me.

"A pirate by the name of Redfield has been spotted attacking marine ships near G-1, he keeps saying that he wants to fight Whitebeard." Stussy said.

My eyes slightly opened as I started to read the paper. The heading read ' Patrick Redfield: A future powerhouse of the sea' Then under the title a picture of a young man with a gothic like appearance. It appeared that Redfield had made his presence known throughout the world.

However, I didn't feel a sense of worry for Whitebeard, if anything; I kind of felt jealous that I wouldn't be able to watch Whitebeard fight. Redfield was a powerful individual who could contend with the likes of the Four Emporer's, however, his eccentric personality made him a solitary individual who often avoided organizations.

His battle lust seemed to be the only motivator to make an appearance in the world. The more powerful the opponent, the more excited he would be with the battle. He almost reminded me of Kaido, minus the alcoholism. Well, as long as he didn't attack the villagers who lived within the territories. I wouldn't be bothered to try and kick him out of our territory.

To be honest, that was a policy that I held within for the pirates who visited our territories. It was important to note that although Whitebeard was feared. It didn't mean that all pirates were forbidden from visiting his territory. If we really did decide to impliment such a hectic policy. We would need to spread all our forces thin just trying to cover the majority of the island, and even that doesn't gurantee safety when powerful individuals like Redfield arrived.

I could only sit and wait for a village leader or town leader nearby to send me a transmission saying that Redfield was causing a ruckus. I continued reading the rest of the paper, and something even more important had come up. It was finally time for the World Conference to happen. The Marines and the World Government would soon be working overtime to make sure that the leaders of the allied nations were brought safely to Mariejois.

'Oh well, as long as the marines don't pry into our territory.' I remarked to myself. Marines and governments tend to be quite critical of pirates during times like this. In the distance, I often could sense a large mass of presences falling to an even greater masses of presences. The Marines often would travel in fleets and bombard pirates nearby.

Our spotter had noticed an island in the distance, he wasted no time immediately notifying me. I gave the order to stop there so I could finally get a lighter for the cigars. As I kept reading the newspaper for more information, I saw a small story claiming that the Roger Pirates were currently in the blues fighting Garp and his fleet of marines. Although the Roger Pirates had won, they barely managed to escape before Admiral Sengoku was sent to the scene.

It seemed that they had began their journey to the grandline once more, it was going to be harder because the marines would be literally everywhere they went. I finished reading the paper and threw it away. The island was slowly beginning to be visible to the naked eye as we slowly approached towards it.

The island looked very familiar to me as buildings were beginning to be seen. 'Wasn't this....an endpoint?' I asked myself as we had finally reached the dock. I tried my best to remember the city till a familiar name appeared on a nearby shop's label: Secon island. This was the island that Admiral Zephyr would try to destroy in order to bring destruction to the New World. I didn't know how we had gotten all the way here, but I quickly got off the ship and promptly made my way to the nearest shop that I could find in order to find a lighter.

I found a rather descent lighter going at a pretty reasonable price. It was a silver rectangular lighter with a cap to cover the sparker. I liked it, and I bought it. As I walked back to the ship, I could see crewmates running back and forth from the ship. They had been getting more supplies for the ship ever since I had left the ship. They normally did this as quickly as possible, that was another thing I had always liked about them.

We were soon on our way from the island. I had taken the time to get one of the cigars from my room and giving it a quick try. The lighter sparked a few times before a flame could be seen at the end of the lighter. After a quick draw out of the cigar, I blew out a puff of aromatic smoke in the air as I relaxed on the couch. The flavor of the cigar was pretty nice, I could get real used to this.
