Chapter 8: The challenge of the bells II.
Sasuke's POV
I watched the fight between the Uzumaki siblings and the sensei.
Naruto was more surprising than I expected. He managed to use the Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu, something I had only heard about from my parents in the past. He also used Wind-style jutsu, and his taijutsu didn't seem too bad… though it was quite rough and honest, just like him.
However, in the end, the sensei easily defeated him—as expected from a boy without the Sharingan.
But what happened next impressed me and even made me blush slightly.
The beautiful Akane fought gracefully against the sensei. Using Water-style, Wind-style, the Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu, and taijutsu, she managed to hold her ground for quite some time. At one point, even I had difficulty following their movements.
That made my expression turn serious. It wasn't just about revenge against my brother anymore—I wanted to become strong enough to stand by her side…
Then, I saw Kakashi place a kunai behind her, which almost made me react. However, fortunately, it was just a shadow clone.
It was also at that moment that another version of Akane appeared beside me.
Feeling my body tense up for a moment, I didn't have time to speak before she left a piece of paper beside me and whispered:
"I hope you trust me."
I was surprised for a moment and read the paper. Its contents shocked me, but after recalling certain academy lessons and the Third Hokage's words about the Will of Fire, it all made sense. Moreover, I trusted Akane's judgment.
Burning the paper, I prepared for either the sensei's attack or to follow the information given in the note.
At the same time, two others received the same paper.
…..
MC's POV
Everything went smoothly, and I received the memories from my clones, which provided me with a lot of information.
I activated the martial art of my taijutsu, called "Immaterial State," and hid among the dense trees.
Slowly, I began tracing and organizing my plans.
Within seconds, I heard Sakura's scream.
Noticing this, I sped toward her using the Body Flicker Jutsu.
Soon, I found Sakura trembling on the ground. Using my sensory abilities, it was clear that her chakra had been interfered with.
Approaching her, I kept my guard up and gently touched her back. My internal chakra entered her body and broke the genjutsu.
"W-what happened… Akane?" she stuttered.
I smiled softly at her and said,
"Let's go. The sensei put you under a genjutsu."
Hearing my explanation, she finally snapped out of it, though she looked embarrassed.
Without paying her any further attention, I quickened my pace.
In reality, from my memories, I knew that the Sakura of the future was definitely capable and useful—even if only for support roles. However, this one… she was still weak, so her help today would be limited, though not entirely useless.
Noticing my movement, she followed while thinking:
"Akane is definitely different… No wonder she has always been admired by everyone. I can't fall too far behind…"
Comparing herself to a peer and recognizing her own weakness, a small seed of the desire to grow stronger was planted. However, it would still take some time before that seed showed signs of sprouting.
…,,
I didn't take long to arrive and witness the battle.
My brother and Sasuke were fighting against the sensei.
Naruto used his strategy of numerous clones, taijutsu, and a few Wind-style jutsu in between.
Sasuke relied on the Uchiha clan's taijutsu, kunai, shuriken, various weapons, and Fire-style jutsu.
In particular, I noticed him using the Shadow Shuriken Jutsu, a fairly common technique among the Uchiha.
And then, when Naruto seemingly managed to grab hold of the sensei's waist—
That was when our group made our move.
Three of my Wind clones, hidden in the trees, moved at high speed and appeared near the sensei.
"Wind Style: Wind Bullet Jutsu!"
Sasuke followed up immediately:
"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"
As a standard coordinated attack, we combined the wind and fire elements for a devastating effect.
His fireball was strengthened by the wind's energy, growing in both power and size. Additionally, the hidden wind bullets were carried within the flames, adding pressure and making the attack even deadlier.
I couldn't see how, but just before the attack hit, I heard my brother's shout—and suddenly, a massive surge of water appeared, forming a barrier that protected the sensei.
I smiled with a slight, almost sinister, amusement.
From the forest, I and three shadow clones dashed at full speed toward the sensei.
Sakura, who had just arrived, pulled out several kunai and, after assessing the best positions, threw them at him.
As I reached the sensei's side, I saw him maintaining the barrier, seemingly ready to absorb the attack.
Without wasting time, we acted.
Two of my clones moved their hands rapidly.
"Wind Style: Wind Blade!"
"Lightning Style: Electric Discharge!"
Blue lightning surged toward the sensei. I was sure he had high resistance to lightning due to his Chidori, but it should still be enough to distract him. Meanwhile, the Wind Blade advanced, aiming directly for his head.
My body was already beside him. In my left hand, small currents of lightning crackled as I used my martial arts technique: "Phantom Lotus Sword."
My hand transformed into a ghostly blade, charged with blue energy.
The sensei smirked and leaped with movements so swift that they shocked me.
With his left hand, he manipulated the water barrier, transforming it into a giant Water Wolf that obliterated our combined attack.
In his right hand, he held a Kunai infused with Lightning Chakra—and with masterful Kenjutsu, he easily countered my assault.
He didn't stop there. With a swift movement, he delivered an extremely powerful kick to my face, sending me flying backward.
His lightning kunai then released an electrical wave, destroying the long-range attacks that Sakura and Naruto had just launched.
Even as I was thrown back, I still maintained a slight smile.
I watched as the sensei stood firmly, like a seasoned warrior.
A Water Wolf still circled around him, controlled by one of his hands, while his kunai crackled with electricity.
His chakra levels still seemed stable, and he hadn't even lifted his headband.
All of this made me murmur to myself,
"Good. This world seems even tougher than I expected."
Though my words were serious, my smile grew excited.
The rest unfolded accordingly.
My wind clones charged at him, drawing his attention.
At that moment, black markings spread across his body, disrupting his chakra flow and restricting his physical movements.
"A chakra-sealing jutsu… and a cursed paralysis jutsu. The first was applied through the paper you left on my arm, while the second was placed manually when you landed a hit on me. You're more perceptive than I thought."
He calmly explained, seemingly unfazed by my clones preparing new jutsu to attack from different directions.
"But… you're not even an official Chuunin. Don't get cocky."
With brute force and his mastery of high-level Fūinjutsu and Juinjutsu, he broke through the seals effortlessly.
In the next moment, his hands moved so quickly that a Lightning Wolf—larger and more destructive than the Water Wolf—appeared, showcasing his superior skill and elemental affinity.
The wolves easily destroyed all incoming attacks and my clones.
Seeing this, I created two clones, each infused with a massive amount of my chakra, and instructed them to pour everything into their next jutsu, overloading them.
"Water Style: Water Jet!"
"Wind Style: Great Breakthrough!"
One of them spewed a torrent of water that resembled a river, while the other unleashed a storm of razor-sharp winds. The combined attack caught the sensei off guard, making him smile.
By the time the attack dissipated, the sensei was nowhere to be found. In his previous location, only the aftermath of destruction caused by the water and wind remained.
"Not bad, but you overlooked something—alternative escape routes."
Kakashi's voice came from right behind me, and I felt the cold touch of a blade against my neck.
"Earth Style: Underground Movement. An excellent way to escape as long as you remain in contact with the ground. With my affinity and mastery, I can use it effortlessly."
My expression darkened, making the sensei seem slightly guilty. But before he could say anything to reassure me, I spoke up.
"I agree, sensei. By the way, where are your bells?"
At my words, his eyes widened as he glanced down—only to find the bells that had been attached to his waist missing.
To make things worse, the person he had just caught had also disappeared.
"A Shadow Clone?" he asked in surprise.
"Yes, sensei."
Looking to his left, he saw me emerging alongside my teammates. My body bore fewer injuries compared to the others, but my chakra reserves were dangerously low. However, they were slowly beginning to recover, even if just slightly.
"A risky move—you created clones infused with an immense amount of chakra to distract me while securing the bells."
Hearing his words, I simply smiled and glanced toward the battlefield. From a puddle of water, a Shadow Clone emerged, twirling the bells playfully in its hands.
"The Water Style jutsu from the Hidden Mist Village... I recall seeing it in the library a while ago. Water Style: Hiding in the water. You seem to have quite the affinity for it to have mastered it already. I assume your clone took the bells during the chaos of your final attack, right before I escaped."
"Well done," he praised, offering a small smile before turning to the rest of the team.
"In truth, well done to all of you. Now, let's talk about the test—after all, there are only three bells."
