THE UNCHANGED VANTAGE

Somi

I bumped with Simfloni. I was carrying a box which contains by decoration items. I planned my birthday party in my home. It was a minimum party. More like a little hang out.

She fell on ground. We were actually in our living room. "Hey! Can't you see?" she stood up dramatically and rubbed her back, giving me a weird expression.

"Yeah. I can but I can't see insects." I sassed and went my room. I guessed she may be cursed me from behind. But who cares.

I walked in my room. I sat on ground. I sighed then started to unbox. I took out a chain of tiny lights, a ribbons etc. etc. I pressed my lips together, thinking, what I can do with these. 

A idea came in my mind. I stood up. My mom called me from behind,"Honey, what you gonna wear this evening?"

Oh shit! I forgot!

I turned to her,"I totally forgot!" her expression softened,"I knew, that's why I have present for you." she came close, she was actually holding a bag. It didn't take too much time to realize that it was my

Birthday Present!!

I stood up excitingly. She smiled and gave the plastic bag. My eyes shined when I found a dress in it. I pull out the dress.

It was a blue, big gown. It wasn't skiny but big. Like Cinderella wore in the live action movie! I always wanted to have this.

I looked at my mother. My eyes literally became teary, I tossed the dress on my bed and hugged her,"Oooo... Mom, I love you so much!"

She chuckled,"Don't be silly. Now decorate your room properly." I sniffed dramatically and went to my work. She smiled softly and went down stairs again

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!! YAYHH!!!" My friends screamed when I finally cut the cake. I fed my mom first (of course! Duh!) Then dad, one by one my friends. I looked around. Kai wasn't here yet.

Everyone again went back to laughing chit chatting. Simfloni already sat on my bed. This women just needed a chance to make my room a mess. I sighed. Some of them was sitting on chairs. I decorated my room with tiny light chains, white aesthetic clothes, and some paper sparkles.

I flinched when the lighting outside. It was raining so badly. The room silent a little but again they drown back to their enjoying time. I went near the window. I saw a man in this heavy rain stopped in front of our house.

My eyes widened sightly when I realize, it was none other than Kai.

I hurriedly went downstairs. I opened the door hurriedly. Found Kai was about to rang the door.

His clothes were soaked, water dripping from his hair, some hair strains were plastered to his forehead.

He smiled,"Happy birthday, Somi." even in this situation his expression was so gentle and soft.

"Somi! Let him in!" I flinched when my mother called out from me. I realized I again drowned to his gentleness. I hurriedly nodded and gave him a side. He slowly came in.

"Oh god. You're fully drenched!" My mother exclaimed and walked to their room for a towel. I was still so stunned. He looked at me with his beautiful brown eyes. He was holding a plastic bag. Again!

He took out a gift which was rapped so beautifully with pink gift rapper. He took out a chocolate box to. His expression softened and he forwarded his hand,"Happy Birthday, Somi." he titled his head sighty as his eyes crinkled by his beautiful smile.

For the frist time my heart raced a little. I slowly accepted his gift and gave him smile and said a 'Thank you.'

At this time my mother came, gave him a towel. My mother was really a kind woman. She always treat my friends like her own. According to her, She was a mother and every children was like her own.

Yeah! Asian mother vides. But my mother was kind more than enough.

He bowed to my mother and softly started rub the towel on his hair. My mother looked his form,"Tsk. Tsk. You're drenched so badly."

He looked down. He pressed his lips together. My mother tried to hold her laughter. She said,"Idiot. Who run around in this weather. Come on. Change into something warm."

His cheeks flushed a little and he looked up,"Huh?" being confused.

"Somi's father have lots of extra clothes. Come with me, I will give you one set." She said. Her tone was little commanding. But he bowed again and obeyed.

I was just watching their interaction. He didn't have this much exchange of words with me like he had with my mother. He seemed like a boy at this time. But something about him still screaming the word 'MAN'.

I looked at the gifts. He surely kept it so preciously. I felt my cheeks heated. But it's just for sudden crush. I just met him. Was it normal?

We were playing UNO. I actually prepared my room for this evening. I stretched a beautiful mat which was my father's. My father was second generation French-Korean.

"I win! I WIN!" Gabriel jumped when his all card finished,"Hey! You cheated!" Simfloni huffed. I chuckled.

"Hey! What you're doing here?" Oliva exclaimed when she looked at the doorframe of my room. I turned my face to that direction. It was Kai, wearing my father's sight green t-shirt and gray sweat pants. His hair was still sightly wet.

"I invited him." I clarified. I moved my hands as a sign, calling him to us.

"What?" Oliva murmured. Maybe Kai didn't tell her about this. He came. He paused. I saw his eyes searching for a seat. I made a room for him, between me and Gabriel. I tapped the place. I saw his adam apple bobbed as he gulped. But he didn't other any words further. He sat besides me.

Simfloni pinched my arm teasingly. I gave her a glare. She leaned and whispered,"Silent talking huh?"
