The Tyrant Won’t Let Me Go

Chapter 8

“I mean, you can just tell me in words how to adjust the mana,” asked Ciel.

As I got a considerable deposit, the responsibility of instructing the Prince grew heavier.

I grabbed Caliberne and spoke to her as soon as I made the decision to schedule my class with Cedric because I felt obligated to prepare as best as I could.

“Well, that’s hard to say,” answered Caliberne.

“It’s okay, just tell me…” urged Ciel.

“Well…”

Only after such circumstances did Caliberne’s heavy mouth speak,  “I mean…”

“Yes, yes…?”

“Stretch your back and shake your hips,” said Caliberne.

I had a strong feeling that it was already wrong for some reason.

My hips are being mentioned? The atmosphere when Caliberne first spoke to me after entering my body was entirely different.

“Did you really have such a personality?” Ciel mumbled.

In the original, Caliberne struck me as being quite kind.

“You should do this, pull it out, then pop it, and pop it,”

said Caliberne.

 “…”

Caliberne made an annoyed grunt as I continued to stare at her with a bewildered expression on my face.

“…that’s why I wasn’t going to tell you,” said Caliberne.

That’s true, though.

‘I would be imprisoned for fraud if I received 200 million kerta and taught classes like that

.’

“Just do it yourself. I can’t teach you how to do this,” said Caliberne.

“No, but, really, because this is my first time using magic, would you help me out?”

“Therefore, you must practice. You could perform magic even when I’m not awake if you held a sword in your hand.” said Caliberne.

“Oh, really?”

Of course, I would practice, but even if Caliberne wasn’t awake, I wasn’t sure whether I could use magic.

So I inquired whether there was a way for me to independently use magic.

“You won’t have to practice that much. You won’t have much use for massive powers right now.”

Calmly continuing, Caliberne,

“You’re naturally talented at using magic. Too much mana was a bit of a problem, though. It was because I thought you were going to die, but I liked your talent.”

My thoughts were piqued by Caliberne’s comments.

“Certainly that’s the reality, but if you place too much faith in your present strength and push yourself too far, you suffer harm. It could get out of control if you don’t do it properly.”

“Wait, that means you could fit into someone else’s body. There must have been someone more talented than me.”

“No. You were the best.”

At Caliberne’s resolute answer, I muttered blankly with a mouth wide open.

“No way…”

“You’re the best. Would I cheat on a 12-year-old?”

“Wasn’t it stranger that the victory sword of the Empire, a sword that gives all sorts of great titles, came into the body of only a twelve-year-old child?”

Caliberne yelled while clutching the sword’s handle and gesturing with it.

“I had no intention of getting into the body of Princess Persephone from the next country—”

For reference, Persephone was the name of the heroine. Ciel suddenly had to figure out why the original story began to falter.

“Oh, it’s because you’re better than her.”

Caliberne snapped back and said.

“I entered your body to save you since I felt you were about to die from a mana explosion, and you spoke a lot.…”

“No, thank you for that but—”

“I don’t know. Stop asking. I’m going back to sleep.” said Caliberne.

“Wait a minute, just ask this one—”

“Get ready for your class.”

“Hey!”

The sword lost its light again, and no matter how many times I called Caliberne, there was no answer in no return.

⚔️

Despite having less than a week, I gave my class ample preparation.

It was since I spent all night practicing magic.

With the Imperial Knights’ permission. I trained alone in a room designated for the magic swords training range since, as Caliberne had mentioned, I could use magic easily if I was holding a sword.

I was wrong to think that my prior fencing experience wasn’t very helpful.

Although the sword they used here was different in weight and shape from what I had previously used in fencing competitions, it took me some time to get used to it.

Of course, Caliberne didn’t help me at all.

“Your life is your own issue. You need to take care of that because I saved your life.”

Caliberne always answered when I requested assistance in this manner.

—‘No, how could you refuse to help me?’

— ‘I won’t let it go because you’re young; you anticipated to live alone in this world.’

— ‘No, you don’t think this was too much for me to handle by myself? You only need to teach me once, please.’

— ‘I won’t. Please don’t bother me with such things again.’

— ‘That’s too much. Can’t you help me for five minutes?’

However, the answer was still the same.

— ‘I don’t want to. It’s annoying. You take care of it yourself, since you’re going to live your life according to your own rules.’

This idiot. My habits from my previous life while speaking to someone naturally came out after we had been conversing for a while.

Every time I did, Caliberne would inquire as to the definition of the word and then use it.

Then I explained to her that ‘My Way’ is for doing things how I want to, regardless of what others think.

Caliberne then applies what she has learned in this manner right away.

Anyhow, it’s clear from the way you spoke that you have no intention of genuinely helping me.

I ended up having to practice using swords alone while crying.

“Well, let’s start the class.”

Despite the fact that we had met several times since then, Cedric tensed up—possibly because it was my first class.

He had a sword studded with a red ruby.

Ordinary magic swords, compared to regular swordsmen, used a jeweled sword called a magic stone, and when they wielded the blade, it could unleash their own magic through this magic stone.

The mana stone shines when the sword’s owner holds it, signaling that the weapon has been charged to cast magic.

However, Cedric’s sword did not respond.

“First, hold the sword tightly with both hands. Just like when you were in a sword class.”

After some hesitation, Cedric positioned the sword out in front of him while holding it in his hands.

“Take a deep breath, and put pressure on your stomach.”

It was knowledge I acquired through practicing all night long.

“And keep your eyes on the magic stone. Straighten your back.” Ciel spoke while gently pushing Cedric’s wobbly waist.

“Think of becoming one with the sword.”

The eyes were riveted on the blade, looking like a red camellia petal that had been doused in water.

His deep lashes appeared to be trembling just a little.

“Now, hold your sword a little higher, think of it like letting out the energy in your body. On the count of three, swing the sword slightly up and down when you count.”

“Oh, okay…”

“Three, two, one…”

Cedric swung his sword, but it remained unresponsive.

Up until roughly five seconds later, nothing happened.

 “Um…”

Cedric’s demeanor clearly darkened.

For some reason, I felt sad as soon as I noticed the glint in his candy-like red eyes.

It became much more evident when he put down the sword and I caught a glimpse of his drooping hands.

“Here you go.”

I walked toward him and struck up a conversation. I once again straightened the sword’s falling blade before speaking while addressing him.

“You can try again. It’s okay.”

“Huh…?”

And my hands overlapped on his pair of hands holding the sword.

“Let’s do it together. Breathe in, focus on the sword, one, two…”

And…

“Three.”

Once it was finished, a lovely crimson light encircled the jewel on the sword.

It was finally proof that the sword had responded.

“Look, the jewel on the sword glowed, right? Now, if you could just—”

Speaking with a delighted tone, I turned my head and there it was. Cedric’s red face seemed to be on the verge of exploding.

“Huh?”

His red eyes, which were still tightly closed, were quivering.

I didn’t think about it at the time.

A few seconds later, I started to wonder all kinds of things.

What’s that about?

What’s with this situation?

It wasn’t like that, was it?

It wasn’t, I determined after attempting to wiggle my head.

‘No, it’s simply a job. I am doing this for money.’

And one more thing, it’s just for my survival, nothing more, nothing less.

[Boohoo, it’s Greenlight, Greenlight! You two did a good job!]

Just then, Caliberne’s voice resonated in my thoughts, whispering as if making a confirmation kill.
