The Tyrant Won’t Let Me Go

Chapter 3

Today was a really long day. I was restless, though, and was unable to sleep.

 “Sigh…”

When I finally stood up, I leaned against the sturdy wooden wall.

‘Next time, I’ll wait for a chance to flee.’

It turned out difficult to survive here.

Additionally, there were time limitations for my stay in the orphanage, I could die in a few days.

Even today, I couldn’t believe the assistant was hitting on the kids again, how harsh they could be.

‘Furthermore…’

As I thought back to Caliberne, who entered my body during the day, I opened my right hand.

‘How in the world am I supposed to use this?’

After discovering that the heroine had absorbed the sword in the original story, the tyrant sub-male, whose eyes had been turned upside down by the blade that grants unconditional triumph, turns his attention to the heroine.

That tyrant would undoubtedly be enthralled by the heroine in the future, regardless of Caliberne.

Contrary to the heroine, though, I lacked the courage to fall in love with the tyrant.

‘Of course, having that insane obsession in the first place was unacceptable.’

However, how difficult was it for the stunning heroine to overcome the oppressive sub-male at first?

“Cut it in half.”

When the tyrant first met the heroine who had absorbed the sword, he uttered the phrase.

Of course, he didn’t mean it in fact, and he only said it to control her despite the fact that the other person, who was a helpless being from a different kingdom, was still a princess.

But I wasn’t a princess, but a powerless commoner running around in an orphanage.

‘If it were me, he might actually chop me in half and wield the sword,’

My body shook as I stifled the chills and my thoughts.

‘I’d rather stay out of it as much as I possibly.’

If I could manage to escape this land, I concluded that it wouldn’t be so horrible.

Might also reside somewhere on the continent.

There was not an option out for me as long as everybody on the continent was aiming at Caliberne, even if he wasn’t a tyrannical sub-male.

‘I’m not sure if Caliberne or Curly Fries entered my body…’

I grumbled to myself as I tussled with my dry hair and fumbled my hands.

⚔️

“You’re putting the dishes behind! Can’t you eat faster?”

My ears hurt from the director’s speech, which had the impact of a beast roar.

‘No, does asking a little child who can hardly handle a spoon to eat in 10 minutes make sense?’

I thought as I observed Ully, whose hands were trembling as he held a spoon.

Ully was a timid and frail child at first. His movements were thus always tight.

I was indifferent and unable to decide since I was preoccupied with other kids.

Every time he saw Ully, the director grumbled that he was always slow.

The fact that Ully was just four years old was crucial.

“Oh, I– I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”

“Just put it in your mouth quickly rather than answering me!” the Director shouted.

The kids caught up on the fact that the director was more upset than normal, so they snuck out of the dining room.

The director and I discreetly observed the appearance of the crying child as Ully, who was suddenly left at the table and was feverishly chewing over what he put in his mouth while his eyes were full of tears.

‘I think I should later apply some ointment to him.’

Ully was eating more slowly than usual, and I knew why.

He injured himself by accidentally biting his tongue a few days earlier while portraying a knight on a horse.

He couldn’t properly chew the food because of this.

But the director, who was ignorant of such occurrences and had no desire to comprehend them, simply stared at Ully with her gaping mouth.

“I— I’m done eating!”

Ully, the one who consumed the porridge. In order to rapidly leave his seat for a moment, he sprinted while carrying a spoon and a dish of rice.

 Clunk—

My nerves immediately became tense as soon as I heard the sound of glass cracking.

 ‘He’s in trouble.’

I rushed over to Ully, who was squatting, as he collapsed to the ground and curled up.

He would be wounded by a shattered piece of glass at that rate.

“What are you doing now!!”

The director’s voice echoed in the dining.

“You don’t know how to do anything right, at least try to even listen!”

How was it possible that these words are the same as the phrases I once heard at the orphanage in my previous life?

“The only thing you know how to do is to eat? That’s all you know?”

Why would a four-year-old child need to hear things like that?

Ully trembled in fear as he sobbed in response to the words that stabbed him.

“Well, I did wrong, I’m sorry…”

However, the director’s eyes were already mad.

“Shut up. I don’t want to hear it!”

My body moved first.

I noticed something odd about the director’s gazes, so I swiftly put some distance between her and Ully.

Otherwise, something might happen…

“What?”

“Don’t touch the kids,” shouted Ciel.

The director turned to face the child with a flushed face as Ciel spoke to her.

“He’s still too young. He’s only four years old,” explained Ciel.

“What!?”

The director’s angry-staining dark eyes caught my attention.

“You’re being naughty. You’re climbing up without understanding the matter, even if I’ve been feeling a little at ease lately…”

 Climbing up?

I didn’t understand. The people who need to take care of the children set the hierarchy and reign over it.

It was amusing to act as though they were the kings and the kids were destitute.

“Don’t touch the kids. Do you have a disease that kills you if you can’t vent your anger on the kids?”

After all, I couldn’t stand it.

My physique was that of a child, but I wasn’t within.

I don’t feel like a child inside because of the life experiences I’ve had over the past 23 years.

Having to see this circumstance that resembled a beggar was unpleasant.

“You should rather oversee things. Don’t harass and condemn the innocent kids like garbage.”

The air in the dining quickly cooled down.

The director’s face also started to change. She spoke with an erratic tone as she cast a downward glance at me since she had been unable to manage her wrath for some time.

“I have been in a foul mood from the first time I’ve seen you. You act like a gentle sheep in front of others, it’s not easy to climb when you’re nothing.”

I looked straight at the director without losing.

‘Was that so?’

The assistant teacher was inevitably called by the director, who then asked her to escort me to the hallway’s innermost room.

As soon as the assistant teacher led me inside the room, the director shut the door and muttered something that sounded like a curse word.

“Just looking at the witch-like silver hair makes me feel dirty all day long”

Why was that my fault, though?

Although that seemed absurd, the door had already been sealed.

Like that, for an hour, then two hours.

I was in a room for quite a while that smelled of old dust.

Until the spiders stop moving and the sunlight through the little window changes to a sunset hue.

At that time. The director flung open the door once again while wearing a devilish grin.

“Come here.”

She talked in a low voice, and I could see she meant to be threatening.

I immediately felt I should stay away from her when I saw her marching toward me with her eyes filled with hatred and rage.

I consider myself lucky to still retain the superior motor abilities from being athletic, even if it was in a previous life.

Likewise, I was able to somewhat dodge the director approaching me at first.

But I eventually collapsed.

It was ridiculous for me to continue avoiding adults due to my thin frame and inability to eat properly.

The director, who used to shout, twisted up the corners of her mouth.

She lifted her leg as if she were about to tread on my fragile ankle with her heel, and I caught a glimpse of her sly smirk.

 ‘What’s the matter with her?’

thought Ciel.

The extra life had a purpose.

However, I was resentful of God to spend my childhood like a ditch like in my previous life.

Even then, I was lucky enough to have no guardian until I became an adult.

I have the power to protect myself and do what I want without looking out for others until I finally stand confidently in front of people.

It wasn’t until I was almost twenty that I could achieve it.

‘You want me to repeat that life again?’

If I was older…

If I had the strength, I wouldn’t have suffered like this.

Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice in my mind.

 [Look. You’re being bullied again.]

My eyes flashed open.

 [Do you need my strength?]

A sneaky smile on the director’s face was just around the corner.

I was desperate. Now, I really wanted to get out of this place.

I bit my dry lips and answered,

“Yes.”

At the same time, a dazzling blue light filled my view.

⚔️

“Oh, I apologize. Given that the director wasn’t present, I doubt you could peek inside at the moment.”

With a pompous smile, the woman presented herself as an assistant teacher at the Herselie Orphanage.

Standing facing a man with a nasty impression that was likely to be more than 190 centimeters tall, and a young boy who was about to reach his waist.

Behind them were rows of soldiers wearing gorgeous armor.

‘I think I’ve heard that twenty times today.’

Paul thought inwardly.

The tall man made the same tone with his tongue clicks whenever he visited the orphanage more than 10 times.

The assistant teacher was restless as she observed the man’s face, which revealed his complete exhaustion.

The boy, watching the scene, carefully pulled the man’s hem twice.

“Paul, could I really find her today?” asked the child.

Paul knew well that he couldn’t give a harsh answer to those tender eyes.

“Yes. You would definitely be able to find that child today.”

Paul tried to comfort the boy he was helping by smiling as much as he could.

The assistant teacher shook her head and had a distressed visage as she overheard the conversation.

“Hey, wait a minute. I’m sorry, but it’s impossible to see the children because the director wasn’t here at the moment.” the assistant teacher added.

It was then…

 Bang—!

Something popped, and a blue light flashed across the hallway.

 ‘Blue…?’

The child pushed the assistant teacher who had been glancing away for a time as he raced while gazing at the side where the shimmering light had disappeared.

“Wait, you can’t go in as you wish!”

When the boy began to dash into the ‘Punishment Room’, the assistant teacher yelled hurriedly, dropping the act while she was uneasy.

Paul, however, who had followed the boy, soon blocked her.

“Your Highness!”

The child was sprinting across the corridor as though driven when Paul screamed out.

The child rapidly made it to the door where the blue light was emanating from after leaving the cries behind.

As he turned to face the door, his heart was pounding.

‘A child who uses blue light would fill your lack of magic and unleash your power.’

As he recalled the voice he had heard concerning the oracle’s child, his eyes lit up.

At the thought that he longed to see the person beyond that door so much.

 “… Finally, I found it.”

With a faint smile on his lips, the boy muttered, reaching for his hand toward the doorknob.
