The Tycoon's Odyssey

Chapter 293: 293:Tearing Down

A few hours ago…

The jet's engine roared before gradually quieting as the sleek aircraft touched down smoothly on the Luxembourg airstrip. Moments later, the doors opened, and Evan descended the steps with a calmness that belied the storm brewing within him.

His expression was hard, his eyes cold and unyielding as he approached the waiting convoy. As he strode down the steps, he activated his earpiece and called upon Aurora for confirmation.

"Aurora," he began, his voice sharp, "get me in contact with this supposed father-in-law of mine. I want an appointment with him."

Aurora's tone was tinged with a sly amusement as she responded. [Are you planning to visit your in-law or stage a raid on Miss Suri's father's house, sir?]

Evan's lips barely twitched. "It's the same thing. If he can't even protect his own daughter's reputation while claiming to love her, there's no reason for that house to exist."

[In fact, I have already tried to establish contact,] Aurora added, [but someone is intercepting the signal.]

Evan's gaze darkened. "I see!" he muttered while stepping off the final step and was quickly surrounded by his guards. Outside, a convoy awaited while the jet engine stopped completely.

The onlookers at the airport couldn't help but wonder which Novea de Rich was making an appearance as they murmured amongst themselves. They looked at Evan surrounded by guards but couldn't quite recall who he was.

A few even scrambled to take his photos only to be quickly stopped by Evan's guards.

Meanwhile, Evan commanded Aurora, his command cutting through the commotion. " Aurora, pull up the local assignments. It's time to showcase some of our strengths."

With that, the convoy sped, a fleet of sleek vehicles moving through the streets with purpose, flanked by a retinue of his guards.

They finally pulled up to the Barret estate—an impressive mansion looming behind towering iron gates and an imposing wall of security.

As Evan stepped out, flanked by his personnel, his expression calm yet chillingly cold, radiating authority, two Barret guards approached immediately, blocking his way. "Stop right there," one of them commanded, his voice firm.

"This estate is private property. State your business."

Evan's voice was cold as he replied, "I am Evan, soon to be Miss Suri's husband. Let me through."

The guards remained unmoved, their expressions steadfast. "We have strict orders from Mr. Barret. No entry without prior authorization."

Evan's eyes narrowed, a steely glint flashing in them.

"I already had a prior talk with Sir Nathaniel. Who are you to obstruct me?"

"Sorry, Sir but we have no prior information," the guard replied, his tone measured.

Evan gave the guards one final glance before signaling his men to hold the position.

His fingers brushed his earpiece. "Aurora, are they contacting anyone inside?"

After a brief pause came Aurora's calm response. [Yes, sir. It appears that one of them is alerting Miss Rena of your arrival.]

Evan's voice dropped to a lethal whisper. "Block her."

Aurora's smirk could almost be heard in her response. [As you wish.]

Soon, Evan stepped out of the car, his expression was calm yet chillingly cold, a subtle warning of the storm that was about to unfold.

Ignoring the guards who had attempted to halt his advance, he continued forward, each of his steps slow and deliberate, a stark contrast to the tense atmosphere building around him.

As they approached the main gate, a fresh wave of Barret guards rushed forward to set up a blockade, their rifles raised and eyes determined. One of them shouted, "Halt, or we'll—" but his words were cut off by the calm, unyielding gaze Evan gave him as he walked forward, unfazed.

Although the guards hesitated, they opened fire.

Then sounded a sudden barrage of gunfire as the guards tried to hold their ground while Evan's guards also responded in kind, their movements cold and calculated.

Just when the Barret guards had begun to raise their weapons, Evan's guards had moved like shadows and immediately sprang into action to shield him.

As the first shots rang out, the sound echoed through the estate grounds, but the bullets seemed to collide against an invisible wall before lighting up in bursts of blue light and dropping uselessly to the ground.

When Evan's guards had moved, they had deployed a shimmering plasma shield around him.

"WHAT!"

"Fuck!"

"What is this?"

The guards shrieked in panic, wondering what kind of new trick this was.

Evan didn't even spare a glance at the flashes or the ricocheting rounds and simply walked forward, his gaze fixed on the mansion ahead as if he were alone on an unbothered stroll.

The chaos around him seemed irrelevant, his focus solely on the building ahead.

Behind him, his guards advanced with precision, moving like an elite, well-oiled machine, responding to the threat with calculated efficiency.

"Stop passing out and drag this bastard."

"Don't let him go in." A guard shouted, snapping everyone out of their daze.

Following that, upon seeing Evan completely unarmed, a few of them pulled out their daggers and ran toward him.

One of Evan's guards grabbed one of the approaching Barrett guard's by the wrist and twisted it sharply before delivering a swift knee to the ribs, taking the man down silently.

Another moved in a blur to disarm his opponent, sweeping him to the ground with a brutal efficiency that left no room for error.

"Kyaa!"

"Arghh!"

As the clash intensified, groans of pain erupted.

Every man seemed to know his role well and would advance with absolute confidence. One of the guards lobbed a flash grenade into the fray, detonating in a blinding burst of bright light into the faces of Barret's security, making them disoriented. As they staggered back, Evan's men closed in, dispatching their opponents with a combination of swift strikes and disabling holds.

Despite the escalating chaos around him, Evan continued his slow, measured pace, exuding an unnerving calm demeanor that contrasted sharply with the surrounding violence. His detached demeanor made the brutal violence seem beneath notice as his gaze remained fixed ahead, unyielding.

"Keep going," he instructed in a low, ruthless tone. "Leave no obstacle in my path."
