Chapter 282: Adventurer's Guild (1)
Early in the morning, we woke up got ready and went to have our breakfast. The reason for that was the complimentary breakfast from the Inn.
The price of stay is very high but there is breakfast that is free. However, we only booked a room with double beds, which means we get only breakfast for two people. So, two of us ate the complimentary breakfast and the other one had to pay for their breakfast, that was me.
Yeah, the twins took the free breakfast for themselves, leaving me to order something and pay for it. There is nothing I could do about that.
So, I ordered the cheapest food for my breakfast and paid for it.
---
After filling our stomachs for the morning, we left the Inn and went straight towards the Adventurer's Guild.
We knew where it was. We enquired about the important locations that were in the city, yesterday itself. It is the reason why I came up with the idea of joining the guild.
If not how could I speak out such an idea? After all, this would be our earning path and also give us an identity to easily move across the empire.
Within thirty minutes of the walk, we reached the building that was supposed to be the Adventurer's Guild, at least according to the info we had gathered the previous day.
Luckily what we heard was true. The building that we reached is definitely the Adventurer's Guild. There is no doubt about that.
Looking at the people entering and leaving the building we were sure about that.
Moreover, when we entered the building we saw quests posted on boards and people talking about them. So we were quite sure.
Now we have to register ourselves and find a way to earn before everything we brought with us on this tour gets consumed.
---
"Hello, we like to register ourselves", I went to the receptionist and spoke with her. I hope she is the receptionist or it may be awkward.
The receptionist looked up and saw three of us, "As a Party?"
I understood what she meant by party. She thought we were adventurers and wanted to form a party. It was quite common as some quests would require a party to be eligible to take them.
"Yes and No", I said.
The receptionist was confused by my answer, but before she could ask me, I said, "We are not registered as adventurers. So, we like to register ourselves first and then we would form a party".
The receptionist nodded and gave us three forms to fill up. Within a few seconds, we filled them up and gave them back to the receptionist.
The only details that were asked there were name and profession, nothing else.
We discussed that we wouldn't use our surnames but changing our names would be difficult as we were used to being called by our names for a long time. Someone would see through that we gave fake names.
Your next read is at My Virtual Library Empire
It's not like we are infiltrating an enemy nation. So, giving our original names is the best decision.
Since they didn't ask much details, we filled in accordingly. Well, I wrote my profession as Warlock, dropping the Draconic Part as that would cause quite a ruckus.
Anything related to dragons would cause commotion no matter where. So, I didn't mention that part.
After we gave our forms, the receptionist pulled out a round crystal ball, which bluish white in color.
"Place your hands here one by one", she said and so we did.
Nothing happened.
Seeing that there were no reactions from the ball, she put it away, "Wait here, I will be back in a few minutes", she said as she disappeared from the counter.
What happened I have no idea.
What was that crystal ball?
Even the twins had no idea what that was.
I have to wait and ask her about that. For now, we waited.
---
A few minutes later the receptionist returned and gave us a card each. On each card, there were our names etched and an F beside our names.
"Do you know the rules and regulations of the guild?" she asked after she gave the cards.
"We have heard some but what we heard might be wrong. So hearing from an official guild worker would be better ", I said.
The receptionist nodded and started to tell the rules and regulations of the guild.
First, as we were just registering ourselves, we would be given an F-rank ID card. These can be gained by anyone as long as they are not wanted criminals and there is a device to check that. The crystal ball was that device.
If they were criminals, the ball would turn red.
Other than that, they wouldn't check any of our details. Whether we are strong or weak, they don't care, but that won't be the case if we want to reach B rank and higher.
Yeah, we are at F rank which is the least. After that, there is E, then D, C, B, A and S ranks.
Everyone starts at F rank but as we complete the quests, our reputation would increase with the guild and so does the rank. Only someone with a higher reputation for completing quests would be given a chance to take quests of importance.
If one can't complete quests, then giving them important quests would be problematic. They would botch them and thereby drain the guild's reputation.
If a lower quest fails, that won't be a problem but a high-grade quest means either nobles are involved or someone with enough power. Failing them would not appear good for the guild.
They would rather let the quest gather dust than fail to do so.
This is why, one can only improve rank up to C normally by completing quests. After that, there would be a strength test to reach B rank.
You have to fight someone from the guild and impress them enough to rank up. Defeating them would be difficult, as the ones who test you would be of higher adventurer rank and that means they are stronger.
