Chapter 275: Surprise and Plans (2)
Yeah, betrayal.
Many would be surprised when someone they trusted betrays them, but that is what betrayal means. So, for humans, it's fellow humans who can betray them, not monsters or other races.
So, the greatest threat to a human is another human, whose heart is controlled by greed or envy would easily betray their friends or anyone for that matter.
This is why no one would spill their secrets to others, as that may cause envy or greed of others.
I mean, if others knew about the Cosmic Market pass that I possess, everyone out there would be greedy for that, even members of my family. Sure my siblings and parents may not but what about their children in the future?
We were raised by the same parents and so there would be some sense of siblingship or something for now, but when we get married and have children, what about then?
Would their children would have the same bond as us?
There is no one hundred percent guarantee about that. In fact, if you see the Frostwolf family, all came from the same ancestor, except for the ones that married into the family. So, as descendants of the same ancestor, shouldn't the family be united against all?
The reality was that the family was not. There were cracks everywhere. Everyone worked for themselves. It was okay if they thought for themselves as long as they didn't directly cause damage to the family but that wasn't the case.
With the intelligence gathered by me, Father was able to eliminate most of those bastards that caused damage to the family or were in the process of doing damage but the problem was he couldn't eliminate everyone.
There are still those elders who ordered a hit on me all those years ago. It's not like I forgot but I knew to become an elder, they had to be powerful. It was not just the rank but also a higher skill level is required. However, with all those years of experience as elders, they can outwit me easily.
Also, they would have certain defence schemes in place that can save their asses in time. I can't have that.
When I go after them, I want them to die, not wounded critically or anything like that. They have to be one hundred percent dead when the battle between us ends or I won't start the battle.
If they escape, it would be difficult to catch them again. For now, they have no idea that I knew about that assassination attempt. To them, those idiots died in the wild to some monsters or other humans who might have clashed with them.
I'll let that be the reality for now until I am sure that I will get them on my first try. There would be no second try.
Anyway, that's for later. For now, I have to concentrate on William of House Rutgurd.
Yeah, the bastard who conspired against me along with my ex-fiance Elisha Siren. All these years I had peace because I was still a student of the academy and for him, there was a trial to prove himself as heir to the Count's throne.
What the outcome of that trial, I have no idea. Maybe it was still ongoing. After all, whether he wins or loses it would become a hot topic to talk among the noble circles. So, I am not sure if that trial is over or not.
Whether it was over or not, I needed to prepare to face him again.
The only question would be whether I would face him directly once and for all or if would I have to clear through his goons before I would come face to face with William.
If he regained his heir status, then there is no way that William would face me directly as that could backfire and he may lose his status as the heir again, maybe even permanently. So he would definitely send his goons to eradicate me, which would end badly for those goons.
No one knows that I am at Tier-6 and so he would only send some low-level goons after me, who would die in my hands. He wouldn't send high-ranking ones as their movements may cause disturbances. So keep this matter under, he would send low-ranking thugs.
Only after their disappearance would he send higher ones.
I am sure that William is not an idiot. Death of the first ones may not alert him but if too many die, then he would become alert and would not make the same mistake of sending low-ranking thugs after me. He would certainly make that last attempt pretty dangerous for me.
It would be that attempt, that I need to be careful for as that may injure me badly or even kill me. The problem was when would he become alert and lay out that perfect plan to eliminate me. So, I had to be very careful when dealing with his goons as I wouldn't know when he would become alert and play this perfect plan.
Since it determines whether I would live or die, I can't gamble and have to be alert at all times.
Well, this is if he has won or yet had to win back his status as heir. If not, then I would only face William and maybe a few of his loyal dogs. Even if that would be the case, I can't be careless.
Since he lost everything that he cared about, he would never let me go. He would rather die than let me live.
So, whatever the case, I have to be well prepared.
---
Well, anyway, I should prepare for this World Tour that I am planning to do. I don't think that it is a good idea to tour the neighbouring kingdoms as they may identify me easily.
I mean, I am a viscount's son. My parents served in the military and now my siblings do. Also, I am the top student of the year. So, they should have a portrait of me and if they spot me in their kingdoms, that would definitely alert those kingdoms. Experience new stories on My Virtual Library Empire
So, I should skip these kingdoms and go to an empire, where I can learn a lot of things, which may not be possible in small kingdoms.
