Chapter 59 - The Supporting Male Lead Who Lost Everything After Losing His Memory (5)
Feng Ruying arrived late, and as she looked at the big boss and a few people with Ai Bi, she couldn’t help but feel that the atmosphere was somewhat strange.
Wasn’t Ai Bi being a bit too arrogant? She’s actually impatient with the big boss!
Feng Ruying hadn’t felt that the other party was so presumptuous when she had dealt with them before!
Wait!
Feng Ruying took a serious look at the big boss and thought of a possibility!
So she coughed to attract attention, and then solemnly introduced, “This is the chairman of the Ruifeng Group, Mr. Gu Wenyu.”
Ai Bi and the others looked at each other, thinking; What a joke! Isn’t this He Dongchen from the He family? What Gu Wenyu!?
Ai Bi was about to speak when a high-ranking official next to her quickly grabbed her and whispered, “This seems to be Assistant Feng, who attended the board meeting before.”
So, this man who looked exactly like He Dongchen was likely the big boss of the Ruifeng Group, the legendary Mr. Gu, who had a mysterious background and was incredibly wealthy?
Ai Bi was completely bewildered. She came to her senses and blurted out, “May I ask, what is your relationship with the He family?”
It wasn’t a secret that the He family had lost a younger son.
If this Gu Wenyu was the He family’s lost younger son, then the He family was incredibly lucky! Their ancestral tombs must be emitting smoke! If He Dongchen was no longer capable, they immediately had an even more formidable Gu Wenyu to take his place!
Oh my god, what kind of luck was this?
Fortunately, He Dongchen interrupted Ai Bi’s jealous outburst in time and asked puzzledly, “He family? What He family?”
Feng Ruying, beside him, was astonished but remained calm and said, “They’re the domestic partners in the previous phase.”
They nodded in agreement when they heard this.
“Yes, the He family. You look very similar to their young master, so I mistook you for him earlier. My apologies,” Ai Bi explained.
At the same time, she felt somewhat relieved. The He family’s ancestral tombs were not emitting smoke after all.
“Oh? We look similar?” He Dongchen nodded with a very interested expression, but he didn’t pursue the matter further and quickly changed the topic.
The process continued, and Ai Bi and the others treated the big boss like a superstar, inviting him into the prepared car. Along the way, they praised and probed him, both openly and subtly. Finally, they had a hearty meal at the designated restaurant before sending him off.
Ai Bi wiped the cold sweat from her forehead and marveled again, “They look too alike! It’s practically identical!”
“Yes, if they stood together, who wouldn’t believe they were brothers?”
At that moment, Assistant Feng called.
Everyone fell silent, knowing that the big boss was low-key and didn’t like to handle matters personally. Assistant Feng always took care of everything.
A cold and distant voice came from the phone, “The boss is curious about the He family’s reaction and hopes you can keep this confidential for now.”
“No problem!”
After hanging up the phone, they looked at each other.

That day, Father He received news that the big boss of the Ruifeng Group had come to B City. He immediately contacted Ai Bi for information, thinking it would be great if an introduction could be arranged.
Ai Bi vaguely replied, “We’ll meet when there’s time.”
Father He felt disappointed upon hearing that and hung up the phone, feeling that something was odd about Ai Bi’s attitude but unable to pinpoint what it was.
A few days later, Father He heard that Mr. Gu would be attending an auction and immediately secured an invitation, preparing to meet him by chance.
After He Bei learned about it, he, who had always been indifferent to the company, suddenly said, “Dad, how about I go? Young people have more topics to discuss.”
The supposedly super impressive Gu Wenyu wasn’t very old.
Father He, already disappointed in this son, couldn’t entrust such an important matter to him. Without thinking, he rejected, “No need. You’ll just cause trouble if you go.”
Feeling frustrated, He Bei could only compromise, “Then I’ll go with you. That should be okay, right?”
Father He heard that and slowly nodded.
With only this one son left, who else would he train?
Father He sighed again as he thought of his eldest son, who was always excellent and never caused worry.
He Bei, having gotten the answer he wanted, was initially all smiles, but upon hearing his father sigh, he knew he was thinking about his older brother again. He snorted coldly, turned, and left the room to find Mu Xue for a drink to heal his wounds.

A few days later, He Dongchen attended a charity auction with Assistant Feng.
“Today, feel free to bid on anything you like,” He Dongchen said with a grand gesture.
Feng Ruying smiled. At a charity auction, whatever you buy had meaning.
It was her favorite part.
With VIP invitations in hand, the two of them followed the staff through a private passage to a second-floor private room, instructing that they didn’t want to be disturbed by outsiders.
In other words, they didn’t want random people brought to their room.
The staff respectfully agreed and silently retreated, glancing back at He Dongchen with a puzzled look before suddenly understanding. It seemed the He family had reconnected with the Ruifeng Group; after all, they were attending the auction together.
After the door closed, He Dongchen glanced around the room decorated in Chinese style. There was a hollowed-out bookshelf, rosewood armchairs, and a delicately carved incense burner on the tea table. White smoke flowed gently downward like water, resembling clouds or mist.
He casually found a seat facing the display stage downstairs. The view was expansive, and the glass was one-way, making it impossible for people outside to see in. The privacy was excellent.
Feng Ruying sat to one side and began brewing tea. Her movements were unhurried and natural, even if not entirely professional, they were just right.
He Dongchen took a sip and suddenly remarked, “You have such an impatient nature, yet it’s rare to see you calmly brewing tea.”
Feng Ruying smiled, “I always strive for efficiency.”
She wasn’t impatient at all.
He Dongchen noticed her unspoken words and shook his head with a light laugh. He knew she grumbled behind his back about his lazy and wasteful ways.
Seeing her look of reluctance yet having to comply, He Dongchen felt quite pleased.
The system suddenly chimed in, [If it weren’t for the high salary you offer…]
“I’m rich!” He Dongchen said inwardly.
The system was utterly defeated, whimpering. Why didn’t it have a function for managing a spendthrift?
As they spoke, the seats downstairs filled with heads. Many distinguished guests and wealthy businesspeople gathered together.
He Dongchen’s sharp eyes spotted Father He and He Bei.
He Bei, in a black suit with his hands in his pockets, lazily followed behind Father He. His face showed impatience as he looked around, seemingly plotting something.
Feng Ruying followed the boss’s gaze and couldn’t help but exclaim, “You really do look identical.”
But not quite. They only looked identical in appearance. Although the boss was lazy, he exuded a noble aura, and his occasional expressions hinted at deep, unfathomable depths that commanded respect. This He Dongchen, although equally nonchalant in appearance, wore all his thoughts plainly on his face.
If the two stood together, Feng Ruying believed she could tell them apart at a glance.
She withdrew her gaze, looked at the boss, and tentatively asked, “Are you really not the lost younger son of the He family?”
“No,” He Dongchen answered forthrightly. He indeed was not; he was the elder son.
Feng Ruying nodded, having figured things out.
***
The auction began, and the first item was a Song dynasty brush washer in the shape of a lotus leaf, with clear veins and well-preserved.
He Dongchen wasn’t particularly interested in antiques and usually overlooked them.
Feng Ruying naturally knew the boss’s preferences and made no moves throughout.
Soon, the second and third items came on stage, followed by the fourth. The fifth item was a set of jewelry from the last century, featuring a dazzling blue sapphire the size of a pigeon egg. The scene heated up as many wealthy ladies joined the bidding, driving the price higher and higher.
He Dongchen nodded, and Feng Ruying immediately understood, joining the bidding and entering the price on the tablet. Since it was a charity auction, she didn’t hesitate to bid generously.
As his assistant, Feng Ruying knew well the amount the boss donated to charity each year, an amount that would make anyone’s heart race at a glance.
This amount was nothing.
The price kept climbing, and eventually, He Dongchen’s bid from seat 03 was in the lead. Just as the hammer was about to fall, a new bid suddenly came in, adding another 5 million.
The entire room was in an uproar. The auctioneer looked at the bidder with an even friendlier smile.
Someone recognized the bidder as He Dongchen from the He family, and their expressions turned subtle.
Father He’s face darkened for a moment. After the attention shifted away from him, he quietly asked his son what was going on.
“Seat 03 is Gu Wenyu! The new owner of the Ruifeng Group!” he whispered.
He Bei confidently replied, “We should cater to his preferences. We’ll win the bid and then give it to him. He’ll surely appreciate our sincerity.”
Father He looked at his smug son, momentarily unsure if he was genuinely foolish or just pretending.
Losing face at the auction but getting the item privately; who would be happy about that?
The other party had wealth and power; they didn’t need that bit of money.
Thinking from the other side, Father He definitely wouldn’t be pleased.
In Room 03, when Feng Ruying saw that the He family had raised the bid, she stopped and looked at the boss.
He Dongchen, leaning back in his chair, moved his fingers and said, “Why are you looking at me? Keep going. We have plenty of money.”
Hearing that, Feng Ruying continued to bid.
Everyone saw Room 03 continuing to raise the bid and sighed, marveling at their wealth.
He Bei wanted to continue, but Father He pressed him down with a warning look.
In the end, the jewelry fell into He Dongchen’s hands. The subsequent auctions had normal bidding and went very smoothly.
The crowd was disappointed; they hadn’t seen a bidding war.
After the auction ended, He Dongchen filled in the address to have the items safely shipped back. There were too many to carry, and they were too valuable to risk being stolen.
***
After the auction, the banquet began. Most people stayed, waiting for this moment as it was a great opportunity to network.
Father He dragged his son to a corner and severely scolded him before heading to the banquet hall to search for their target.
Gu Wenyu was low-key, and there were no pictures of him, but his assistant, Miss Feng had attended many public events, and there were plenty of pictures of her.
Father He looked around eagerly, his eyes tired from the search, but he didn’t see the person he wanted. He Bei grew impatient and prepared to sneak away.
He Dongchen, having learned of their reactions from the system, smiled slightly and stood up. “Let’s go meet them,” he said as he headed downstairs.
Feng Ruying followed, pondering how the boss seemed particularly concerned with the He family.
As they reached the lower floor, a flamboyantly dressed young man approached, grinning.
“Dongchen, you changed your clothes already? Nice! And this girl, she’s hot! Much better than that internet celebrity.” His tone was flippant as he looked Feng Ruying up and down, stroking his chin.
Feng Ruying frowned, but before she could speak, a figure stepped in front of her.
“Sorry, you’ve got the wrong person,” He Dongchen said coldly. Then he glanced at Feng Ruying, signaling her to follow.
As the two prepared to leave, the young man realized what was happening and laughed hysterically. “Oh, come on, still pretending you don’t know me? You’ve already been dumped by the Ho family, and you’re still trying to hide while hitting on a girl. He Dongchen, isn’t that funny?”
His laughter drew the attention of a large crowd.
The Ho family breaking off the engagement was quite the recent gossip, so everyone was particularly alert.
Wait, something’s off!
Weren’t the He father and son just standing here talking to us?
So, who was he mocking over there?
