Chapter 2: Signed a Live-in Son-in-Law Contract
Hearing the system notification, Ji Feng breathed a sigh of relief. His heart soared.
"Sure enough, for transmigrators, the golden finger might be late, but it's never absent," he thought.
Ji Feng was a transmigrator. He'd arrived in this parallel world almost a month ago, and he hadn't expected the system to activate until now.
For a transmigrator, system assistance was essential for success.
Looking at the options presented, Ji Feng quickly made his choice.
"I choose option one."
"Choice successful. You have obtained a newcomer gift package."
Ji Feng's mind was made up.
Choosing option one meant signing the live-in son-in-law contract, but the system wouldn't be unbound afterward, and he'd also receive a gift package.
Option two, while preserving his masculine pride, offered a mere five million. What use was that?
Besides, if the child was his—even if unintentionally conceived—he didn't want his offspring calling another man "father."
Being a live-in son-in-law was acceptable. As long as he was strong enough, he could have a second child with his own surname.
"I'll sign the contract," Ji Feng said, picking up the black pen on the table. He signed his name and pressed his handprint.
"Good. Here are two copies of the contract, one for each of us." Seeing Ji Feng sign, Su Yu wasted no time. She pulled out another bank card and said, "This card is for you. The money will be deposited monthly. The password is on the back. Let's find some time to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau for the marriage certificate."
"Okay, sounds good," Ji Feng replied, taking the card.
"Let's exchange contact information. I'll be in touch if anything comes up," Su Yu said.
They exchanged numbers and WeChat accounts. With that done, Su Yu picked up her bag, stood, and said, "I'll be going now."
She left quickly, giving Ji Feng no chance to speak.
Ji Feng watched from the window as Su Yu drove off in a red Porsche 911.
"A Porsche 911. She's definitely rich," he murmured.
He'd acquired a wife today, but a "cheap" one, pregnant with his child, and seemingly cold and unapproachable.
Ji Feng wasn't worried. He had a system. He was confident he could eventually tame this arrogant woman.
Shortly after Su Yu left, Ji Feng also left the coffee shop.
…
On the drive back, Su Yu's expression was blank, but her eyes held a hint of defiance.
This defiance wasn't directed at Ji Feng, but at her patriarchal family, who were obsessed with social status and "suitable" matches.
Su Yu, the head of a company in Gimhae City, had achieved her success through her own vision and hard work, without any family assistance.
But societal expectations loomed: men should marry, and women should be married. Su Yu had reached that age.
Two weeks ago, her family elders had arranged a marriage for her without considering her feelings. The other party was the son of a business associate, known for his chaotic personal life.
However, to consolidate and expand the family's power, they'd insisted on the marriage, ignoring Su Yu's objections.
So, that night, Su Yu had gone to a bar alone for the first time and gotten drunk. She woke up the next morning to find she'd slept with Ji Feng.
It was her first time. She wasn't angry, but quietly left, removing any trace of their encounter.
She hadn't expected the consequences. Her period never came. A hospital visit confirmed her pregnancy.
Initially, Su Yu was in disbelief, but the test results were undeniable.
Faced with family pressure and her current circumstances, Su Yu decided to take Ji Feng as her live-in son-in-law. Having a child was the priority.
This was also her way of rebelling against her family. She'd rather marry a stranger she had no feelings for than let them dictate her marriage.
With Su Yu's resources, finding Ji Feng's contact information had been easy, leading to their meeting today.
At this point, she didn't care about Ji Feng. Her only concern was the child.
Marrying Ji Feng would stop her family's interference. Besides, she'd have a child. She doubted they could do anything about it then.
To protect her child, she decided that, after registering her marriage with Ji Feng, she would only reveal the marriage itself to her family. The pregnancy would remain a secret for now.
…
Back in his rented room, Ji Feng called his parents.
Although he was a transmigrator, his parents in this world were still alive. His father, Ji Jun, and mother, Xia Ling, were ordinary people in a small town.
They ran a small business to support him through university and his current job. Their finances were modest, barely enough to make ends meet in the big city.
Despite their financial struggles, the family of three was happy, a fact that brought Ji Feng great comfort.
His father answered the call.
