Chapter 327: Sky-High Priced School Uniform
When her initial excitement settled down, Kaede Honjou finally remembered the chat group's description of the Flying Thunder God Technique, particularly the last line in the notes.
"So that's how it is. My strength is still too low. Once I get stronger, I should be able to use the Flying Thunder God," Kaede nodded in understanding.
With a tinge of regret, she picked up the notebook from the floor and placed it back on her desk.
"Hmm... I should take a look at the other items first. I'll work on improving my strength later."
Since leveling up her strength wasn't something she could achieve in an instant, Kaede decided to explore her other rewards instead. The experience with the Flying Thunder God would have to wait for another time.
Just then, the chat group notification rang out again.
[Ding! Reminder: Recycling 'Onee-sama's Worn School Uniform' will grant 50 million points.]
Perhaps because Kaede had ignored the previous notification, this time the system directly increased the recycling price fivefold. This demonstrated how much this seemingly ordinary item meant to the chat group.
"Huh? 50 million points? Eriri's uniform is that valuable? That's amazing!" Kaede was utterly stunned by the notification in her mind.
She knew the notification referred to "Onee-sama" as Eriri since the uniform was the only clothing item she had received in her rewards.
She had suspected the uniform might hold some special defensive properties, she never imagined it could be worth such an astronomical sum.
Quickly snapping out of her daze, Kaede opened the description of Eriri's uniform to understand what made it so extraordinary.
The result was a single, simple line:
"Onee-sama's Worn School Uniform (Little Skirt Collection), a standard Toyogasaki Academy uniform treasured as a prized collectible by the chat group."
"It's just a regular uniform…" Kaede was dumbfounded.
For a moment, she didn't know what to think. A plain school uniform being worth 50 million points was beyond anything she could have imagined.
To put it in perspective, 50 million points could elevate an ordinary person to the pinnacle of Level 5.
However, Kaede wasn't the type to take advantage of such opportunities. Trading a simple piece of clothing for 50 million points was something she simply couldn't bring herself to do.
With a laugh, she addressed the chat group:
"Little Skirt, you can take this uniform back. It's your collection, right? There's no need to give me the points."
The chat group's introduction had already explained that "Little Skirt" was the consciousness of the chat group, so Kaede knew who she was speaking to.
The moment Kaede finished speaking, a system notification quickly appeared.
[Ding! 'Onee-sama's Worn School Uniform' has been recycled. 50 million points have been credited to your account.]
Kaede's point balance instantly surged by 50 million, leaving her momentarily speechless.
Hurriedly waving her hands, she anxiously exclaimed, "No, no! You don't need to give me the points, Little Skirt. Please take them back!"
[Ding! For me, anything belonging to Onee-sama is priceless. The 50 million points are rightfully yours, so accept them with ease.]
Seeing the sudden change in tone from the system prompt, Kaede Honjou blinked in confusion.
"Wow, Little Skirt, you can talk like this? I thought it was always that stiff, robotic tone," she said, her voice brimming with excitement.
For a moment, Kaede completely forgot about the matter of the points. Her face lit up with delight as she spoke to Little Skirt.
Fortunately, she was alone in her room. Otherwise, anyone witnessing her speaking so loudly to herself would probably think she had lost herself in some delusion.
[…]
"Hey~ Little Skirt, let's be friends, okay?" Kaede said cheerfully, but after several minutes of waiting, there was no response from Little Skirt.
Feeling a little disappointed, Kaede gave up on trying to initiate more conversation.
She also decided not to insist that Little Skirt take back the 50 million points. From Little Skirt's tone, Kaede could tell it was firm on this matter. Continuing to argue wouldn't change anything.
Still, keeping all 50 million points to herself felt a bit unfair. So Kaede quickly opened the chat group and sent out a big red packet.
[Ding! Kaede Honjou (Level 2, Stage 3) has sent a lucky draw red packet.]
The red packet, split into ten parts, was snatched up in less than a second.
[Adele (Level 3, Stage 8): Wow, I got 2.86 million points! Yay!]
[Adele (Level 3, Stage 8): Thank you so much, Miss Kaede!]
[Yuuki Asuna (Level 5, Stage 9): Thank you for the red packet, Maple!]
[Arifureta (Level 6, Stage 2 / Group Leader): Thank you for the red packet, Maple.]
[Fubuki (Level 5, Stage 9): Thanks, Maple. But why are you all so fast? I was among the last to grab it. Luckily, it was divided equally, or I might not have gotten anything.]
[Chika Fujiwara (Level 5, Stage 9): Hehe, it's all about reaction time!]
[Ruri Gokou (Level 5, Stage 9): Whoa… terrifying! Maple, did you hit the jackpot again? You just casually gave away 30 million points!]
[Kaede Honjou (Level 2, Stage 3): Heehee, not really. It's just that I got a little bonus when Little Skirt recycled that school uniform of Eriri's I drew earlier.]
[Ruri Gokou (Level 5, Stage 9): Huh… this is getting scary. You can casually give away 30 million points—does that mean you earned over 100 million points? Shocked.jpg]
[Kaede Honjou (Level 2, Stage 3): Nope, just 50 million points. Screenshot.jpg]
Kaede attached a screenshot of the system notification to the chat, instantly sparking a flurry of reactions. However, the responses were sharply divided.
[Elaina (Level 6, Stage 1): …]
[Risa Shiramine (Level 1, Stage 5): Just 50 million points? That's already terrifying.]
[Yuna (Level 2, Stage 1): A school uniform worth 50 million points? Is it some sort of legendary garment?]
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 9): Nope, it's just a regular school uniform. Little Skirt took it from me a little over a month ago.]
[Kaede Honjou (Level 2, Stage 3)]: Mm-hmm, Eriri is right. It's indeed just a normal school uniform; that's exactly how the chat group described it.]
[Yuna (Level 2, Stage 1): ???]
Yuna was utterly confused. Her Bear Suit was valued at just 5 million points, yet now there was a piece of ordinary clothing valued at ten times that amount...
Excuse me, how is this reasonable?
Mile and Azusa shared Yuna's sentiment. They were equally baffled by the price.
As for the veteran group members, while they were surprised, they weren't overly shocked.
They all knew Little Skirt was Eriri's devoted admirer. Going to such lengths to recover Eriri's clothing wasn't entirely unexpected.
[Kaguya Shinomiya (Level 5, Stage 7): Onee-sama's school uniform only exchanged for 50 million points? What a pity, such a waste!]
[Kaguya Shinomiya (Level 5, Stage 7): If you'd traded it with me, I could have offered 100 million points. If I'd known earlier, I'd have acted faster. I assumed you'd want to keep it for yourself.]
[Yuna (Level 2, Stage 1): ??????]
[Azusa Aizawa (Level 4, Stage 1): 100 million points???]
[Chika Fujiwara (Level 5, Stage 9): Wow.]
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 9): Ahem, no need for that, no need.]
Both new and veteran group members were stunned by Kaguya Shinomiya's statement.
It was understandable that Little Skirt would spend 50 million points to retrieve Eriri's clothing, but Kaguya Shinomiya offering 100 million points for it was incomprehensible to everyone.
After all, as the chat group's consciousness, Little Skirt could generate an infinite amount of points. But Kaguya Shinomiya had a total of less than 3 billion points.
Spending one-thirtieth of her total points just to collect a set of clothing? That seemed entirely impractical.
But Kaguya Shinomiya thought otherwise.
[Kaguya Shinomiya (Level 5, Stage 7): I think it's worth it! Because anything belonging to Onee-sama is priceless.]
[Ding! Agreed.]
Little Skirt, who had been monitoring the chat, immediately chimed in to endorse Kaguya Shinomiya's sentiment.
...
Kaede Honjou didn't linger in the chat to join the commotion. Instead, she exited the chat module and began extracting her other physical rewards.
Four packs of tissues, one kilogram of gold, a serving of fried rice, a cup of milk tea, a P220 handgun, a laptop, a Logia-type Goro Goro no Mi (Rumble-Rumble Fruit), and a single Nine-Tomoe Rinne Sharingan.
In total, eight items were taken out from the storage space and placed neatly on Kaede's bed.
Though the items seemed numerous, they didn't take up much space on the bed.
The tissues were standard box tissues, while the kilogram of gold appeared as a neatly molded gold brick.
The gold brick is certainly worth some money; if sold, it could easily fetch over a million yen.
The laptop, however, was an enigma. Kaede had never seen the brand before. Even searching for it online using her phone yielded no results. Not being tech-savvy, Kaede couldn't make sense of the laptop's specifications, so she simply placed it on her desk and ignored it for now.
As for the P220 handgun, it was the real deal—definitely not a toy or a prop. The handgun even came with a fully loaded magazine. However, for a superhuman, this handgun might as well be a toy.
Even with her current strength at Level 2, Stage 3, injuring Kaede with a handgun would be extremely difficult. This wasn't because her body was tough enough to withstand bullets but because her speed made dodging gunfire relatively easy.
The still-steaming fried rice, however, drew her attention. Unable to resist its alluring aroma, Kaede picked it up and started eating, despite having finished dinner just over half an hour ago.
Initially, she hadn't planned to eat it, but the fragrance was simply too tempting. She dashed to the kitchen, grabbed a spoon, and began savoring the dish.
The first spoonful of fried rice instantly overwhelmed her with a sensation she had never experienced before. The flavor was far beyond anything she had imagined.
"Mmm~ This is so delicious!" Kaede exclaimed between bites, her mouth full of fried rice.
"Could this fried rice be from the world of Food Wars!?"
To confirm her suspicions, Kaede quickly accessed the chat group's description of the dish.
"Fried rice, originating from the world of Food Wars! Prepared by Joichiro Yukihira, owner of Yukihira Diner."
"I guessed right! It's from the diner owner at the beginning of that memory footage. No wonder it's so good." Feeling victorious, Kaede broke into a cheerful smile.
She then resumed enjoying the rest of her fried rice with gusto.
A few minutes later, both the fried rice and the milk tea were gone. Unfortunately, the milk tea was just an ordinary drink, completely unworthy of being paired with such exquisite fried rice.
Fortunately, Kaede had already become a superhuman, and her enhanced digestive system easily handled the large portion of fried rice and milk tea. Otherwise, such a big meal would have left her feeling uncomfortably full.
Now, Kaede had gone through most of her material rewards, leaving only the final two—arguably the most important items—to inspect.
She picked up the Logia-type Rumble-Rumble Fruit, shaped like a pineapple with strange patterns on its surface.
Next to it lay the Nine-Tomoe Rinne Sharingan, a blood-red eye with three concentric black circles forming the iris, and three black tomoe evenly spaced along each circle.
Kaede decided to review the descriptions of both items at once.
[Logia-type Rumble-Rumble Fruit:]
Origin: One Piece
One of the most powerful Logia-type Devil Fruits.
Upon consumption, the user's body transforms into electricity, rendering them immune to physical attacks, most energy attacks, and any non-Haki-based attacks. The user can generate high-voltage blue electricity at will and move at lightning-fast speeds.
With continuous development, the fruit's abilities can grant even greater power, with a maximum potential of Level 4, Stage 1.
Note: Devil Fruits have drawbacks, including the inability to swim, weakness to Seastone, and the inability to consume multiple fruits. Additionally, they taste extremely unpleasant. Chat group points can be used to mitigate these side effects.
