Chapter 260: Kohina Hiruko
Kisara Tendo remained silent. Although she had not yet developed romantic feelings for Rentaro Satomi, the death of her childhood friend dealt her a significant emotional blow.
Seitenshi, too, was at a loss for words. Eriri's casual act of tossing Rentaro into the cube world had deeply unsettled her.
What's more, the scene of Kikunojou Tendo shown on the screen earlier had left her heart sinking. Considering the hundredfold time differential, over two hours had already passed since Eriri announced the game.
This meant that at least ten days had gone by inside the cube world. After ten days of bloodthirsty slaughter, how many survivors could possibly remain?
Seitenshi opened her mouth as if to plead with Eriri once more, but no words came out. Rentaro's fate had made it clear that Eriri was resolute. There was nothing she could do.
At that moment, Eriri turned to Seitenshi and said, "Seitenshi, instead of worrying about those who are beyond saving, you'd be better off guiding the remaining people of this world and the cursed children who have been given a second chance."
With most of the world's leaders now trapped in the cube world, Eriri intended for Seitenshi to rise from her role as the leader of the Tokyo Area to become the leader of the entire world.
"I understand." Seitenshi sighed and accepted this irreversible reality. "I'll do my best to guide those children."
After discussing plans for the world's future, Seitenshi and Kisara Tendo took their leave from Eriri and the others.
In the elevator, Seitenshi turned to the visibly disheartened Kisara Tendo, her expression filled with concern. "Miss Kisara, are you alright?"
"I'm fine. Thank you for your concern, Seitenshi-sama." Kisara lifted her head, offering a faint smile tinged with sadness.
"But you don't look fine at all…" Seitenshi's eyes betrayed guilt. "I shouldn't have brought you along. This is all my fault."
"This isn't your fault, Seitenshi-sama. We asked to come along," Kisara hastily reassured her, waving her hands. Even though the government had essentially dissolved, her respect for Seitenshi remained unwavering.
"Maybe this is just Rentaro's fate."
After some hesitation, Seitenshi asked, "Do you hate Lady Eriri?"
While Eriri had cast seven billion people into the cube world, Seitenshi harbored little resentment toward her. After all, Eriri had indisputably eradicated the Gastrea virus, a feat that no one else could accomplish.
"Hate? I'm not sure. She avenged my parents and cured my body when I was bathed in that light. I owe her a debt of gratitude, and she saved this world. I shouldn't hate her… but…" Kisara's voice trailed off, a haze of uncertainty in her tone.
"If you're not sure, then don't think about it. From now on, let's work together to protect this world we've regained."
"Understood."
Shortly after Seitenshi and Kisara Tendo departed, the meeting room doors were suddenly slammed open from the outside with incredible force, taking part of the surrounding walls with them.
Milim strode in with her chest puffed out, utterly unconcerned by the destruction she had caused.
"Wahaha! Eriri! Everyone! I'm back!" Milim beamed as she marched toward Eriri and the others. Trailing behind her were: Enju Aihara, Tina Sprout, Kayo Senju, Midori Fuse, as well as the Hiiro sisters.
During the past two hours, Milim had been leading the group of children around the former IISO base, playing and exploring like the childlike leader she was. Their bonds had grown considerably stronger.
"Eriri-nee!" Enju and Tina exclaimed as they ran to Eriri, hugging her arms tightly from either side.
"Milim, why are you back so soon? Did you have fun?" Eriri casually snapped her fingers. Instantly, the meeting room doors and walls Milim had destroyed reverted to their original state, as if nothing had happened.
This scene left Kayo Senju and the others completely stunned. Their admiration for Eriri only deepened.
Meanwhile, Eriri's companions, accustomed to such displays, barely reacted. Instead, they warmly greeted Milim and the others.
Eriri gently extricated her arms from Enju and Tina's embrace, placing her hands on their heads to pat them fondly.
"Mm-hmm! Everything here is so interesting! That thing called video games is super fun too!" Milim leaned on the conference table, her eyes sparkling with excitement as a bright smile spread across her face.
"That's good to hear." Eriri nodded before retrieving a cake from her storage space, one baked by the expert chef Aoi Kujou, to offer Milim.
"Milim, would you like some?"
Sure enough, the sight of the delicious cake made Milim's eyes shine with anticipation. Drooling slightly, she eagerly nodded. "Yes! I want it!"
Milim didn't even bother with the fork beside the cake. She immediately took a big bite, her eyes widening as the flavors exploded in her mouth.
"Mm!" Milim froze momentarily, overwhelmed by the heavenly taste. It was as if her senses had been elevated to a new realm of delight.
"What is this? What is this? What is this?! It's so good! I've never eaten anything so delicious!" Milim exclaimed as she swallowed, her excitement bubbling over as she looked at Eriri.
"This is a cake made by my maid, Aoi Kujo. And besides cake, there are plenty of other delicious foods to enjoy," Eriri replied with a smile.
"Awesome! I want more!" Milim said, nearly vibrating with excitement.
"You'll have plenty to eat from now on."
Standing nearby, Erina Nakiri hesitated to speak. She wanted to boast about her own cooking but swallowed her words, knowing they couldn't compare to Aoi Kujou's legendary skills.
Satisfied with Eriri's promise, Milim joyfully sat down with her cake.
Just as Eriri was about to take out more cakes to share with everyone, Tina suddenly opened her eyes after enjoying Eriri's head pats.
Raising her head slightly, Tina looked at Eriri and said, "Eriri-nee, we found Kohina Hiruko outside, but her condition isn't good."
After Eriri and the others left, a bored Tina took the opportunity to go through all the memory replicas in the chat group. Naturally, she learned about Kohina Hiruko, the yandere Initiator.
"Alright, bring her here so I can take a look," Eriri said as she noticed Kohina Hiruko trailing dejectedly behind Mibu Asaka.
Earlier, while observing the cube world, Eriri had also spotted Kagetane Hiruko. Though he had sought to destroy the world, his ultimate goal was merely to find meaning in the existence of mechanized soldiers.
Moreover, his desire to create a world filled with endless battles was not born out of any sympathy for the oppressed Cursed Children.
His mind was profoundly twisted, and Kohina Hiruko was one of five Cursed Children he had artificially conceived ten years ago by abducting five women and impregnating them.
From a young age, Kagetane Hiruko brainwashed his five daughters and forced them to fight each other. Ultimately, only the strongest, Kohina Hiruko, survived, becoming his powerful weapon to eliminate enemies.
Over the years, Kagetane had killed countless Initiators, so it was only fitting for him to be thrown into the cube world.
Due to the brainwashing she underwent as a child, Kohina Hiruko was utterly obedient to Kagetane and relied on him deeply.
Just as in the original story, when Kagetane fell into the ocean and his fate became uncertain, Kohina lost all will to fight and was left feeling helpless.
The current Kohina Hiruko mirrored that state.
"Lady Eriri." Mibu Asaka brought Kohina Hiruko to Eriri, holding her hand.
Though Mibu Asaka was only nine years old, she carried herself with maturity and seriousness. Her gratitude and respect for Eriri, who had saved her, were evident in her formal address.
Mibu Asaka was just as adorable as Enju Aihara and the others, but her dignified expression and samurai-like aura gave her a completely different charm from the others.
Eriri smiled and gently patted Mibu Asaka's head, causing the girl's stern little face to blush faintly.
Then, Eriri shifted her attention to Kohina Hiruko.
Kohina Hiruko had deep blue hair and striking red eyes. She wore a matching dark blue dress and was undeniably cute, though her beautiful eyes lacked vitality. The tear stains on her cheeks suggested she had been crying recently.
Instead of comforting her to lift her spirits, Eriri decided to address the issue at its root.
Rising from her seat, Eriri approached Kohina Hiruko and placed her right hand on the girl's head. As soon as their skin touched, Kohina closed her lifeless eyes.
Eriri began modifying Kohina Hiruko's memories. She completely erased all traces of Kagetane Hiruko from her mind, ensuring that the memories could never be restored.
Even if Kohina were to one day become a Level 9 being, there would be no way for her to recover the memories Eriri had obliterated.
In place of those memories, Eriri implanted images of herself into Kohina's mind, making herself the new figure of dependence in Kohina's life.
From that moment on, Kohina Hiruko, the daughter of Kagetane Hiruko, ceased to exist. Now, Kohina Hiruko was Eriri's little sister, living solely for her.
Eriri made no other alterations to Kohina's personality. She remained the same yandere who delighted in wielding her blades against others.
When Eriri removed her hand, Kohina quickly woke up. Her once lifeless red eyes now gleamed with energy as she fixed her gaze on Eriri.
Then, with an excited cry, she threw herself into Eriri's arms.
"Onee-chan!"
"Mm~ Mm~ Kohina, such a good girl."
"Yes, I'll always listen to Onee-chan." Kohina Hiruko blissfully snuggled against Eriri's embrace.
Witnessing this, Enju Aihara couldn't hold back any longer. "Hey! Eriri is my Onee-chan! Who do you think you are, barging in and clinging to her like that?"
Enju stomped forward and grabbed Kohina's right arm, trying to pull her out of Eriri's arms.
But Kohina's grip around Eriri's waist was ironclad, and no matter how hard Enju tried, she couldn't pry Kohina away.
At that moment, Kohina suddenly lifted her head from Eriri's embrace. Her glowing red eyes locked onto Enju, and her cheerful smile vanished, replaced by a cold and dangerous expression.
"Onee-chan, can I cut her?" Kohina asked nonchalantly, as if inquiring about something as mundane as dinner. Yet her eyes radiated overwhelming killing intent.
Her hands were already resting on the hilts of the twin katanas strapped to her back. The moment Eriri gave her consent, she would draw her swords and strike.
Feeling the weight of Kohina's bloodlust, Enju instinctively leapt back a few steps, her expression turning serious as she prepared to face off.
"No, Kohina, you're sisters now. You must get along. Sparring is fine, but killing each other is absolutely forbidden," Eriri said with a gentle smile, pinching Kohina's soft cheek.
"Understood, Onee-chan." Kohina immediately withdrew her killing intent and nodded obediently. "Hey, little brat over there, tell me your name."
"Hmph, you're the little brat! How rude!" Enju huffed indignantly before puffing out her chest and pointing a thumb at herself. A smug grin spread across her face. "I am Enju Aihara, Eriri's most beloved and closest little sister!"
"Enju… I'll remember that. Since Onee-chan doesn't want me to cut you, I won't. But make no mistake—Onee-chan loves me more than you!" Kohina declared confidently before burying her face into Eriri's abdomen again.
