The Strongest Brain in the Interstellar

Chapter 14 - Discharge Arrangements

“Ms. Jiang, are you feeling better today?” She naturally sat down on the chair beside the bed, noticing that Jiang Hui was half sitting up and adjusting the hospital bed for her, indicating that she didn’t need to get up.

Jiang Hui couldn’t adjust in time and could only sit on the bed and watch as the person came in. Lying down seemed impolite, especially since she had already been able to get up and go to the dining area for lunch.

However, she noticed that the relationships between the interstellar medical staff and patients so far felt very natural. Even though it was their first meeting, they could converse as if they were familiar friends. It was very friendly, making her feel a bit less confident in her own demeanor.

“It’s nothing much. I’m recovering faster than I expected. I thought I’d have to stay for a while, but the therapist, Calet, told me I could be discharged this afternoon.”

“You called him ‘therapist Calet’ in front of him?” Unexpectedly, Miss Xu’s attention seemed a bit misplaced, and she couldn’t help but laugh.

Jiang Hui: ???

Is there still a story behind this? Could it be that there’s gossip about it? Jiang Hui felt that in less than a day since waking up in this interstellar world, she had already heard several pieces of gossip.

Xu Jia didn’t pay much attention to Jiang Hui’s slightly awkward expression and explained, “There’s another therapist in the district hospital named Calet, but he works in the radiology department on the seventh floor. The two of them have always been at odds, and their shared name has caused some trouble.”

“So…”

“So, if you see him again, just call him Mr. Calet. The older one upstairs is always called Therapist Calet… Of course, it would be best if you never had to meet either of the Mr. Calet again.” The woman made a rather cold joke.

Anyway, Jiang Hui felt a chill from that comment. She wanted to laugh, but the smile froze before it could reach her lips, so she could only awkwardly press her lips together.

Of course, this was just a small episode. Xu Jia didn’t continue talking about Mr. Calet’s little mishaps and naturally pulled over the oddly shaped cart.

“Here, let me use your hospital barcode.” Jiang Hui took a moment to realize what that was and hurriedly handed over the barcode tag hanging from her wrist.

Xu Jia took it, seemed to glance at the code, flipped the cart over, and found a small groove in one of the compartments.

“Click.” The embedded small compartment popped out, and Xu Jia took out a set of palm-sized vials, a total of six, each tube about the size of a thumb, with a blue, glowing liquid that looked quite magical.

She didn’t rush to give them to Jiang Hui. Instead, she carefully compared the information on the vials and then handed over the corresponding one to Jiang Hui. After swiping the small screen on the cart for a while to confirm the information, she finally completed this round of medication delivery.

“Although you are generally healed, you still need to take the stabilizers for five more days. Here are a total of six vials, one of which is the lead medication. You need to finish this before you can be discharged.” The pharmacist pointed to the vial that Jiang Hui was pressing down with her thumb, which indeed looked different from the other five: it was shorter and had a semi-transparent, gelatinous consistency.

Jiang Hui hesitated for a moment when it came to taking the medication, unsure of whether the interstellar medicines could be taken directly. Her memory on this matter was quite vague; it seemed she had rarely taken medication in the past.

Unexpectedly, Xu Jia misunderstood her hesitation, thinking she was afraid of taking the medicine. She felt a bit sorry for her, thinking, “Still a child,” and naturally softened her tone. “The stabilizers do have some unpleasant effects when taken, but for your future, it’s better to recuperate properly. Start with this lead medication; the reaction shouldn’t be too strong.” If there were serious adverse reactions, she likely wouldn’t be able to be discharged anyway.

This lead medication was the basis for taking the other medication, designed to ease and smooth the effects of the stabilizers and generally had a sensitivity-testing function. If there were any adverse reactions, it would indicate that her body couldn’t tolerate it.

However, Xu Jia didn’t mention this. It was already quite pitiful for a child of that size to be injured and hospitalized alone, so she should avoid scaring her any further, given that she was already feeling lost and uncertain.

Fortunately, Jiang Hui seemed to adapt well to the medication, and naturally, no further issues arose.

After making the records, Xu Jia considered her task complete.

Seeing that she was about to leave, Jiang Hui hurriedly stopped her. She suddenly remembered a somewhat tricky matter: she was currently without any identification, and her familiarity with this place was far less than the world’s familiarity with her. Now that she was hospitalized, she wondered if she would be able to find her original home once she left the hospital…

“Oh, right! I almost forgot. Your admission was quite urgent, and the medical staff could only gather some basic supplies based on the situation. Frey has a different shift today and probably forgot to mention it to you. Let me see, it should be… here!” She found it right here.

Jiang Hui had no idea how the other person could accurately locate the items. Before she spoke, she seemed just as uncertain.

Next to the hospital bed, the metal platform that Jiang Hui had thought was a workbench suddenly protruded. The back of it revealed a small screen, and beneath it was a cover resembling a security door. The entire transformation process was incredibly smooth, making no sound at all. The edges of the metal platform fit perfectly together, as if it had always looked this way, showcasing truly exquisite craftsmanship.

Jiang Hui didn’t have time to marvel before she followed the other person’s instructions and scanned her pupils and brain waves in front of the screen.

Initially, she felt a bit timid at the mention of scanning brain waves, worried that she might expose herself on the spot. However, before she could react, the identification was completed, and the lock opened immediately, revealing the contents inside.

There weren’t many items—just a necklace that looked quite punk and a round, flat object resembling a button.

Xu Jia didn’t shy away from looking at the items Jiang Hui took out, and she was a bit surprised. “So this style is quite popular in the inner star systems?” She subconsciously moved her wrist, and Jiang Hui immediately noticed that she was wearing a similar-style electronic watch on her wrist. A vague memory flashed in her mind, indicating that this was the “light brain.”

So this is what a light brain looks like.

The girl shook her head. “They also like to use wristband styles over there, but I personally prefer this one.”

Xu Jia suddenly understood and urged Jiang Hui to put it on quickly. The light brain is an incredibly important personal item for interstellar citizens and should not be left behind unless absolutely necessary.

Then the girl wanted to put on the object that should be the spatial button according to her memory.

“Wait—” Xu Jia quickly interrupted her actions, looking both amused and exasperated. “Ms. Jiang, I assume you don’t want to go home in a hospital gown. You should wait to put on the spatial button until you’ve changed into your own clothes; otherwise, you’ll have to deal with the cooldown time, which can be quite a hassle. I assume your spatial button contains your daily wear, right?”
