Wilhelm’s Ale Garden ended with a display of fireworks.
Reiou asked me to organize another event, but I told him that from now on, Wilhelm’s Commercial Guild will handle it. They should have gained enough know-how from this festival, and they probably also noticed the issues and challenges. While I will participate, I’d like to leave the more tedious tasks to the Commercial Guild.
The staff from the Commercial Guild and the hunters hired for the event will dismantle the venue by dawn. Thanks for your hard work. As for us, we’re heading home to sleep. Later, I’ll have to visit the Commercial Guild after they finish the financial settlement, but until then, we need to prepare for the Beruna Festival. I’ll give Alex and the others a day off tomorrow. I’ve asked Claudia to handle just the sales check.
There are still two days until the Beruna Festival. The next morning, I’ll meet with Wilhelm’s Commercial Guild to discuss any issues from their festival, and then in the afternoon, I’ll do some carpentry work with old man Ben. I’m thinking of opening another stall in Beruna.
It’s nothing major, just crafting a ring toss game. It’s a popular festival game where prizes are given based on the score. The prizes will include food vouchers for items sold at the Divine Cat Trading Company’s booth, wooden toy swords, bows, spinning tops crafted by old man Ben, and stuffed animals made by the women of our team. Mukata’s younger brother, who has a hobby of making stuffed animals, taught them how to make Mii-chan plush toys.
The Mii-chan plushies made by Mukata’s younger brother were so cute that everyone wanted one. However, we made it one of the grand prizes. There are three grand prizes: a Mii-chan plushie, an all-you-can-eat and drink pass at the Divine Cat Shop, and a ride on the battle horse, Sumire, around the outer perimeter of the city. Sumire has agreed to this but only for children. Everyone will win some prize, no matter how small. It’s a fun, non-profit activity, and I need to properly thank everyone who’s helping.
Perro and the others have gone to fetch the chicken. No matter how much karaage we have, it’s never enough. Mii-chan, Sumire, and I went edamame-picking as well. My back hurts… The village chief was shocked, asking if we were going to eat that much. I didn’t tell him about the festival. However, it seems some villagers knew about the festival in Wilhelm since a few went to it.
Now, the festival day has arrived. I’ve called Chris and Al from Wilhelm to assist. Since it wouldn’t be fair to ask Kaya to chill the ale again, she’s only handling the juice. But we’ll stop that at the eighth bell. Chris, Al, and I will work backstage, while the guild receptionists will serve the chilled ale. Since Beruna has more people than Wilhelm, we’ll need to work efficiently to keep up.
Ilze, Lukas, and Katia will sell snacks at the Divine Cat booth, while Lu, Lara, and Yana will manage the ring toss. The Mukata siblings will assist with both.
The daycare and fluffy booth will now include Kai and Terra alongside the previous members. We’ve also brought in strong reinforcements. Perro has asked two cat district chiefs from the royal capital to gather cats that enjoy being petted and are willing to tolerate baths. We’ve got about ten of them staying at our place for the festival, making our home a literal cat house… but everyone’s happy about it.
As for Letty, she’ll be in charge of security, just like in Wilhelm. Even though the dark guild in Beruna has taken a heavy hit, it hasn’t been completely eradicated. They might come to gather funds for their recovery. Soldiers from the royal palace and hunters hired through the Hunter Guild are also on duty. I’ve also heard that the Guild of Thieves will be secretly helping with security. I doubt anything will go wrong.
When the festival started, the opening speech was given by the chief steward of the Lumiere Kingdom, reporting on their victory over the rebel army and celebrating the festival as a victory celebration. While the festival may have political undertones, it’s irrelevant to me or the townspeople. As long as people enjoy themselves, the reason doesn’t matter.
But wow, there are so many people. It’s kind of terrifying to think of them all rushing in at once. The salesgirls look nervous too. Smile, smile, zero mistakes.
Amidst all this, Mii-chan, the Divine Cat Trading Company’s representative, is brimming with energy. She’s pressing her cute paws on the table as if preparing to pounce. It’s clear she’s eager to perform her “blessing,” but she probably won’t do it unless someone shows her how. I’ll send Yan and Kaya as plants in the crowd to spread rumors about Mii-chan’s blessings. If no one asks her, Mii-chan might get discouraged.
The fireworks go off, and the festival officially begins. It’s time for Beruna’s Ale Garden!
“Mii!”
