Chapter 219 - Divine Cat Mii-chan Participates in the Festival
219 Divine Cat Mii-chan Participates in the Festival
After making a final stop at the Commercial Guild for a last-minute meeting, I return home and gather Letty, Perro, Sera, Lu-kun, Ral-kun, Sister Sumire, Baro, and the four wolves, then teleport to Wilhelm.
It looks like Alex and his team have closed their shop and are waiting for us to arrive.
“Kyuu!”
“Strahl, have you been doing well?”
Ral-kun clings to Chris and starts licking her face. He looks exactly like a dog, but I won’t say anything.
“You sure came with a big crowd.”
“Doesn’t seem like they’ll be much help though.”
Since there are both familiar and unfamiliar faces, I make introductions. Letty seems tense the entire time—she probably has no idea where we even are right now. When I introduced the four dragons and said, “These are dragons,” I’m not sure she fully understood. I introduced Letty as a half Ice and Scarlet Spirit Tribe to the dragons, but none of them seemed to care. Whether someone is a demon or a human seems to make no difference to dragons.
Chris, Perro doesn’t like it when you’re too close, so could you give him some space? Oh, and the same goes for you, Lu-kun. Sera, stop puffing up and growling! Try to get along, okay? Sister Sumire and Baro seem indifferent. I was worried Baro might be intimidated by the dragons, but he seems perfectly fine.
Together, we head to the central square. Perro, Sera, Lu-kun, Ral-kun, Sister Sumire, the wolves, and Baro are all working at the daycare booth, helping out with the kids. They’re fluffy, and both Sister Sumire and Baro are kind, so I don’t foresee any issues. Perro, despite appearances, is also quite good at looking after others.
Mii-chan and Alex, along with the Commercial Guild receptionist who came to help, will be selling snacks at the Divine Cat Trading Company’s booth. It would have been hard for Alex to manage alone, so when I was looking for assistance, all the receptionists from the guild raised their hands at once, which was a bit surprising. I had intended to let them decide by discussion, but it almost turned into an argument, so I held a strict lottery to choose. It’s not like I’m jealous of Alex being handsome or anything!
The remaining crew—Claudia, Chris, Al, and I—are in charge of chilling the ale. I’m also handling the non-alcoholic drinks. The Commercial Guild staff will manage the payments, and once customers pay, they’ll collect their drinks from one of the four designated stations. I figured a streamlined assembly-line approach would work best—at least, that’s what I thought until things started.
When the time came and the fireworks began, customers were guided into the venue by the Commercial Guild staff and hunters from the Hunter Guild who were hired for the job.
We set up table seating with chairs, but most of the tables are standing-only. The seats with chairs are paid, and we reserved a few as “silver seats” for the elderly.
The seats are mostly filled, but many people are still without a place to sit. Well, we’ll just have to get started. The head of the Commercial Guild is serving as the emcee, and a representative from the Grand Duke’s household gives an opening speech. This speech informs everyone that the festival is officially recognized by the country, which benefits both the nation and the Commercial Guild. The guild gains prestige for hosting such an event, and the country showcases its peace, prosperity, and tolerance.
When the Grand Duke’s representative finishes reading the congratulatory message and announces the start of the festival, the crowd erupts in cheers.
Here we go—let’s kick off the ale garden!
Everything started smoothly, but then came an unexpected turn of events…
A long line formed at Claudia and Chris’s stations, while Al had a line of what appeared to be housewives. Meanwhile, I was surrounded by children… Wait, what?
The kids’ orders were quickly filled, but when I tried helping Claudia and Chris with their customers, I got dirty looks from them…
With no other choice, I stuck to making chilled ale behind the scenes and left the distribution to Claudia and Chris. However, since I was also handling the juice orders, my workload was overwhelming. Although they were doing their best to keep up, the lines continued to grow. What a bunch of horn dogs!
We couldn’t handle the volume, so I called for reinforcements from the Commercial Guild. Two beautiful receptionists were sent as backup, allowing me to fully retreat to the back while they handled customer service. With four lines, things slowly began to settle down.
Meanwhile, Al was receiving cheers from the madams, flashing them a cool, dashing smile, which only made them scream more. That’s what happens when you’re a handsome guy… Al really is quite dashing, though.
The Divine Cat Trading Company’s booth also seemed to be doing well. With handsome Alex, the beautiful receptionists, and the adorable Mii-chan, our representative, of course, they were attracting a crowd. They were serving fried fish with a makeshift tartar sauce, and once people tried it, they couldn’t get enough. The makeshift mayonnaise was prepared by Jin, who had been idle. Apparently, he was exhausted afterward, but he seemed to recover by the time the feast began.
Anyway, the ale garden has just started, so Mii-chan, keep up the good work!
“Mii!”
